matter2003 Posted January 5, 2014 Report Posted January 5, 2014 The Sabres are so bad offensively they aren't even averaging 2 goals per game, having played 42 games and scoring 74 goals(or 43 games and scoring 76 goals depending on if those standing included the NJ game tonight). To put in perspective just how poor offensively they are, the next lowest scoring team, Calgary, and the only other team under 100 goals on the season, has 96 goals with either 1 or 2 games in hand on the Sabres. Currently they are on pace to be the 6th or 7th lowest scoring team in terms of goals per game in NHL history(the only teams lower were teams in the 1920s and 1930s), and in terms of the modern NHL(post 1970), the only team close to them right now is the 1998 Tampa Bay Lightning, which averaged 1.8 goals per game. In fact, this years Sabres and the 1998 Lightning are the only two teams in the modern era to average under 2 goals per game. Pathetic...
Huckleberry Posted January 5, 2014 Report Posted January 5, 2014 read somewhere 142 is the lowest , and that we are on pace for 154 or something :D
matter2003 Posted January 5, 2014 Author Report Posted January 5, 2014 read somewhere 142 is the lowest , and that we are on pace for 154 or something :D Has to be done on a per game basis as the schedule lengths were shorter up until recently...Tampa Bay Lightning have the lowest modern era goal total with 151, we are on pace for 144 currently... http://mcubed.net/nhl/gllgfpg.shtml

Go Sabres!

Two or less Posted January 5, 2014 Report Posted January 5, 2014 And yet, Calgary and Edmonton are right there in the mix with us for that last place finish. Crazy.
matter2003 Posted January 5, 2014 Author Report Posted January 5, 2014 You found the silver lining in the steaming pile of dung. I like that attitude. Go Sabres ! Lol, only because teams in the 1920s and 1930s virtually all made the playoffs
sicknfla Posted January 5, 2014 Report Posted January 5, 2014 And yet, Calgary and Edmonton are right there in the mix with us for that last place finish. Crazy. Great time for Miller to have one of his every 4 year seasons.
Stoner Posted January 5, 2014 Report Posted January 5, 2014 Great time for Miller to have one of his every 4 year seasons. His agenda supercedes the team's.
wjag Posted January 5, 2014 Report Posted January 5, 2014 His agenda supercedes the team's. Where is that coming from?
Assquatch Posted January 5, 2014 Report Posted January 5, 2014 Where is that coming from? I feel the same way. It's not an overwhelming feeling or one that turns into an anti-Miller crusade but it's annoying that he is magically dominant when it's convenient for him to prepare for a particular year differently than the rest.
bunomatic Posted January 5, 2014 Report Posted January 5, 2014 His agenda supercedes the team's. If thats the case its damn lucky for the Sabres this season. Can you imagine our record if he wasn't motivated ?
Weave Posted January 5, 2014 Report Posted January 5, 2014 His agenda supercedes the team's. Where is that coming from? I get the same undertone. I'm not bothered by it, but I think it is there. I'm not bothered by it because, frankly, what other motivator for competing at the highest level other than internal ones would Miller have right now? I also think there are more than a few other Olympians with the same agenda. Not a big deal to me, but I perceive it as being there.

You have to have a little ego to be a goalie. You want to make yourself the hero. If you aren't in the business of pumping your own tires, you shouldn't be a goaltender.

Advanced stats will tell you that it has nothing to do with the Olympics. It has something to do with the distance to the sun, number of Thursday games to the power of wins, and global warming. Margin of error is the number of houses he's sold divided by post game pouting fits.

JJFIVEOH Posted January 5, 2014 Report Posted January 5, 2014 Right, I'M repetitive. Quality post. Thank you for brining your valuable perspective to the board. I have on the subject only to be chastised and attacked. Don't get on my case because of the blatant double standard. Holy ###### this place is uptight.
Assquatch Posted January 5, 2014 Report Posted January 5, 2014 Your reply makes no sense to me. That's why I'm making fun of it.
