Eleven Posted December 31, 2013 Report Posted December 31, 2013 Nothing like the Hasek thread we used to have. We were lucky to have that thread. I don't think I remember it.
darksabre Posted December 31, 2013 Report Posted December 31, 2013 I don't think I remember it. It was the best thread ever. No other thread will ever come close.

Weave Posted December 31, 2013 Report Posted December 31, 2013 Well, someone find it! Or did we lose it in the disaster? Are you still being too literal?
Eleven Posted December 31, 2013 Report Posted December 31, 2013 Are you still being too literal? I don't even know anymore.
Jsixspd Posted December 31, 2013 Report Posted December 31, 2013 How old is Sabrespace? Dom's been gone since 2001. Sabres have basically been the same structure for that entire span - have mediocre lines skating in front of a great goalie.

Jsixspd Posted December 31, 2013 Report Posted December 31, 2013 Except for those years where they didn't have mediocre lines. So whatever. Sorry - I'll spot you 2 or 3 or 4 out of what, 20? Let me RE-phrase so it's more accurate - a frequent Sabres formula for team composition seems to be a bunch of 3rd or 4th liners skating in front of a top-shelf goalie. Is that better? :) Feel better? Do you need a cookie too?

I think the difference is, Dom was playing for an owner who was pretty tight on salary, and not crazy about paying for more than one superstar. Golisano spent plenty of money, and TP has spent even more, only the previous GM spent that money on the wrong players. Maybe if the next GM can actually sign the right players to the right contracts, things will look different? One can hope.
Jsixspd Posted December 31, 2013 Report Posted December 31, 2013 Yeah, I know - it just never seems like the stars are in the proper alignment for the Sabres to win big! My fear is now that we get some great lines, but lose our top-ten goalie and end up handicapped by a sieve in the net ala Patrick Lalime.
