Razor and RJ were really going overboard on the Chara crosschecking thing. He barely shoved Ott, and Ott should have been called on that slewfoot, anyway. Just because Ott, as well as most of our guys, are as strong on their skates as Mama Pecoraro, doesn't mean it was a penalty.

I honestly thought the only bad calls were the hit to head and the slash, but they evened up.

Our "power" play and our inability to score against starting goalies gets me WAY more frustrated than anything the refs could do.

No offense, but your interpretation of penalty calls always makes me think back to your stance on Boychuk's brutal two hander on Vanek's knee in the playoffs: "Nothing to see here."

I just watched it again. The refs not calling anything on either guy was the right call.

BS. You could say a non-call for offsetting penalties, but then then Charra didn't quit and continued far beyond the initial retaliation.

I'm 5' 10" about 190 and I'm stronger on my skates than Ennis, he gets knocked around like a rag doll and can't finish.

...riiiight, and the last time you played against NHL caliber competition?

In his post game presser, Nolan said Porter is going to miss some time. Who gets recalled from Roch?

Larsson had two assists tonight for the Amerks, no? He might be a good person to bring up.

Ennis has looked good since Nolan took over. Tonight was an exception. Maybe he was hurting more than usual after the injury earlier in the game.

BS

Did you watch it again? The only thing that was remotely a penalty was the slewfoot by Ott, and even that was borderline, although, if I had been slewfooted like that in a game, I would have been just as pissed as Chara.

And the only reason it even looked like a crosscheck was because Ott dove for the puck at the same time.

IMO, the refs had no bias and were a non-factor in this game. (Just so you know, I don't always say this).

The slashing call on Ott was weaker than the one I saw earlier in the week when Crosby high-sticked his own teammate in the face and the Senators' guy (I think it was against OTT at least) got the call. Are refs getting worse, or are we noticing a lot more? That said, the horrible officiating didn't cost the Sabres this game. The hard work was often there, but their execution tonight made me think "they're having a Rolston of a game".

Oh, and nice debut Omark  taking a lazy penalty like that. You don't want to really hussle to catch the guy? Fine, but don't just sit back and think you're gonna get away with hooking him under the armpits in the middle of the ice. So many frustrating things about this game.

Myers had a meh 1st period but picked it up. Good to see him keep rolling.

D'agostini, Porter, Ellis, Sulzer, and Tallinder are not NHLers.

Omark looked decent and really needed to roof that chance he got. He could've done his flop shot and still scored. Watching him with Ellis and Porter was brutal.

Which is unfortunate because this is one quarter of your NHL roster, and you can also include Omark on this list.

What? You talkin' to me?

Then do somethin' about it!

If Myers was fighting Chara, he might have connected as all of his punches went over Bergeron's head. No, I take that back as Chara probably would have laid him out.

I usually judge players based on ther play in games i've seen, not their history or how they are acquired. Jury's out on Omark right now.

I dislike Chara as much as the next guy, but that look on his face after he lost his helmet, it's a look we've rarely seen on a Sabre's face. Maybe never seen.

I like Hank, and he gets through most games on on brains and effort.

But his fast-twitch muscles can't keep up.

I think we are watching his last NHL season.

On the other hand, McBain has been better I thought he would be.

He can skate and carry the puck and hasn't been the turnover and 2-on-1 queen I pictured.

Porter, Ellis, Omark, D'Agostini, Flynn and Girgensons - really how many of these guys were consensus NHLers at the start of the season? Only one of them will be to start next year.

That's a pretty good assessment of Hank, IMHO. Very smart player, but clearly has lost some quickness. I always liked the Sabres' strategy of keeping an older veteran guy around as the #7 defenseman. Guys like Patrick and Teppo had lost a step when we signed them, but played smart and provided a calming veteran influence when needed. Maybe Hank can be that #7 guy for a couple of years?

Our PP is so bad tho that even as bad as that call was, it didn't take a sure goal away from us

You probably out weigh Tyler by 30 lbs
