Been a while since I've done one of these. Don't have time to put together elaborate OP, so here goes. Sabres may have a new look tonight with Nolan's anti teenager movement.

....and the return of sausage, I think...

I was handed two tickets to the game tonight.. so I'll be making the commute after work. And here I thought i was only going to be at next week's game against the Habs.

So, bottom line.. when I get a chance to go to the game I'm always excited. Now, to figure out logistics...

Wish Z had one more game. Favorite player now. I am looking forward to a new feeling in the stands tonight. Maybe my section will even let a out a cheer!

I would not count on it unless you go to a Toronto or Montreal game this year. The atmosphere was great on Friday but that was Nolan's first game and Toronto in the house. I really don't expect much of an atmosphere change until at LEAST mid year next year.

I disagree, I think that you might not see a huge atmosphere change right away, a mid week game against a western team isn't a huge draw/rivalry, but string a few good games and maybe a win against one of the better teams in the league and I could see a big atmosphere change in the arena before the middle of this season.

#Sabres Edge (w/audio): Three teams later, Roy shuffles back to Buffalo w/ #StLBlues http://bit.ly/1fSx6ZL

And now we see that on a good team, Darcy's "#1 center" is a #3 center -- that is, when he isn't the #4 LW.

STL has exactly the right approach on Roy -- a 1-year contract and a bottom-6 forward slot. They aren't relying on someone who is inherently unreliable and they aren't marrying someone who isn't marriage material. Anything he contributes (which isn't negligible) is a bonus.

Great job, Darcy.

Derek Roy in his prime was significantly better than a bottom-6 forward.

I might say that at his best he was significantly better than that -- but you simply could not rely on him to be at his best. And he disappeared in the playoffs.

At no time in his career did you want him to be one of your key forwards -- i.e. not one of your top 2 centers or, say, your top 5 forwards. If you have 5 rock-solid forwards that you trust -- like the 2005-07 Sabres -- could he be your #2 LW? Yes, but that's as far as I'll go.

If he had a real #1 in front of him, I think he'd have been an excellent #2. He never had that luxury.
