HopefulFuture Posted November 18, 2013 Report Posted November 18, 2013 https://twitter.com/buffalosabres Buffalo Sabres @BuffaloSabres 41m Nolan said may be some roster moves soon. A few playing well w/ #Amerks may deserve a shot, want to put people "in a position for success." Zadorov back to London? Grigs back to the Q? Larrson to Rochester? Kaleta and Adam up? Discuss what your thoughts are on Ted Nolans comment.
thewookie1 Posted November 18, 2013 Report Posted November 18, 2013 Larsson and Risto down to AHL, Risto more temporarily though. Zadorov gets 1 more game and then is sent to London with a to-do list and a pat on the back Lafontaine tries to convince the Q to allow Grigs to go to the Amerks. (He may have a bit more clout) Adam is promoted along with McNabb. Kaleta stays down until the end of Nov, and then is brought back.
That Aud Smell Posted November 18, 2013 Report Posted November 18, 2013 Interesting. Quotes from today's session: "We have so many young guys here, and it’s almost like going back to junior hockey in some sense. Patty and I have been talking for the last three, four days about that. I didn’t realize how young they really were and the positions that they’re in and the capabilities of what they can do besides playing here. There’s some maneuvering room we can do here. We checked the farm team, see who’s going well down there. There’s a couple players playing exceptionally well down there that deserve an opportunity. We’ve been tweaking. We’re going to meet right after this and see what we can do." "We’re going to try to get this thing on proper footing going forward and putting people in position of success versus force-feeding them. You see some good organizations and how they go about it. You don’t force-feed somebody and say we’re rebuild. Rebuild is important, but how you rebuild is really important."
BuffaloSoldier2010 Posted November 18, 2013 Report Posted November 18, 2013 Lafontaine tries to convince the Q to allow Grigs to go to the Amerks. (He may have a bit more clout) You do realize the age restriction thing is a rule, not a guideline right?
Hoss Posted November 18, 2013 Report Posted November 18, 2013 I don't think Grigorenko SHOULD go down, but he will. Zadorov to London, Larsson and Risto to Rochester, Grigorenko to the Q. McNabb, Kaleta, Adam up from Rochester, Weber back in. New D: Ehrhoff, Myers, Weber, McNabb, Tallinder, Pysyk, McBain

Good for him -- I hope he makes the most of it. I wouldn't mind seeing McNabb get another shot too. I'm also on board with seasoning the kids in the A or in juniors. You do realize the age restriction thing is a rule, not a guideline right? Although many of Wookie's ideas are from outer space, this isn't one of them. DR said earlier this year that he tried to go down this road with the Q -- so it's possible for the Q to grant a waiver and allow Griggy to go to the A.
LGR4GM Posted November 18, 2013 Report Posted November 18, 2013 I don't think Grigorenko SHOULD go down, but he will. Zadorov to London, Larsson and Risto to Rochester, Grigorenko to the Q. McNabb, Kaleta, Adam up from Rochester, Weber back in. New D: Ehrhoff, Myers, Weber, McNabb, Tallinder, Pysyk, McBain Agree on all accounts except I think if Grigorenko can not go to Rochester (Sabres would have to petition for a Rules exception) than he stays up. Risto becomes the first injury call up on defense. Adam can get another shot and I think he deserves it and may do better under Nolan. I expect the moves to be made this week but we may see Zadorov tomorrow against St Louis first. Kaleta may stay down longer, end of November would be fine. He can learn and work in Rochester than come back up.

I don't think the Q is of any use to him at this point but it might be the only option. I think Kaleta should stay down longer, too, but Nolan might want to see him play with his clean slate idea in play. Obviously the league isn't giving him one, though.
darksabre Posted November 18, 2013 Report Posted November 18, 2013 Looks like the kids are going back to juniors. I'm not mad. I'm on board with whatever Ted and Pat want to do.

I am saying that unless they get an exemption for Mikhail to go to Rochester he will stay in Buffalo. I dont think they send him back to the Q
SabresBillsFan Posted November 18, 2013 Report Posted November 18, 2013 I don't think Grigorenko SHOULD go down, but he will. Zadorov to London, Larsson and Risto to Rochester, Grigorenko to the Q. McNabb, Kaleta, Adam up from Rochester, Weber back in. New D: Ehrhoff, Myers, Weber, McNabb, Tallinder, Pysyk, McBain The kids should have never been up for this long to begin with. Also Zigomanis might get a call up! Yes I know that. I am saying that unless they get an exemption for Mikhail to go to Rochester he will stay in Buffalo. I dont think they send him back to the Q Sad thing is he should have never been up and wasted a year of his rookie contract last year. Since he can't go to Rochester than he needs to go back to the Q. Sucks for him and it's a stupid rule because he really should be playing in Rochester.
inkman Posted November 18, 2013 Report Posted November 18, 2013 Yes I know that. I am saying that unless they get an exemption for Mikhail to go to Rochester he will stay in Buffalo. I dont think they send him back to the Q i'd like them to explore loaning Grigs to the KHL. Seems far fetched and risky but I think it may be the best place for him.
SabresBillsFan Posted November 18, 2013 Report Posted November 18, 2013 i'd like them to explore loaning Grigs to the KHL. Seems far fetched and risky but I think it may be the best place for him. I don't think they would want to expose him to the KHL. This blunder should have never occurred last year. I can't even believe the coaches and goof ball Darcy thought he might be ready because Darcy didn't have any centers.
Derrico Posted November 18, 2013 Report Posted November 18, 2013 Looks like the kids are going back to juniors. I'm not mad. I'm on board with whatever Ted and Pat want to do. +1
Hoss Posted November 18, 2013 Report Posted November 18, 2013 i'd like them to explore loaning Grigs to the KHL. Seems far fetched and risky but I think it may be the best place for him. Far too risky and pointless. Why expose him to a completely different game?
nobody Posted November 18, 2013 Report Posted November 18, 2013 Sending Grigorenko back to jrs isn't going to help him and may hurt. They should just try to trade him now. I thought Nolan was supposed to be good at teaching young players also. There goes the top pick in the next draft. So much for a top 5 pick. Who should we expect with the 11th pick? Or will they package the 11th and another 1st rounder they have to move up to 7th?
Weave Posted November 18, 2013 Report Posted November 18, 2013 Far too risky and pointless. Why expose him to a completely different game? Development and the chance to play against men. He's not going to develop playing against boys or sitting in the pressbox. I wonder if a different Euro league is a possibility? As for getting a waiver to send Grigo to Rochester, I think Darcy wasn't successful because there is no precedent and there is no flexibility in the rules. It really cannot be considered an option.
Eleven Posted November 18, 2013 Report Posted November 18, 2013 I don't think they would want to expose him to the KHL. This blunder should have never occurred last year. I can't even believe the coaches and goof ball Darcy thought he might be ready because Darcy didn't have any centers. I don't think anyone thought he was ready--it's just that there was Hodgson and no one else at the position at the time. In that sense, Grigo was more "ready" than anyone else except CoHo.
That Aud Smell Posted November 18, 2013 Report Posted November 18, 2013 DR said earlier this year that he tried to go down this road with the Q -- so it's possible for the Q to grant a waiver and allow Griggy to go to the A. Wha---? Whoa. That'd be the bees' knees.
SabresBillsFan Posted November 18, 2013 Report Posted November 18, 2013 Well you can blame this whole mess on Darcy and Ron for keeping him up and wasting a year of his contract. I can't even believe they thought he was ready. The depth at Center is really the only reason why I can see them keeping him up last year.

Iron Crotch Posted November 18, 2013 Report Posted November 18, 2013 Everyone here sort of intuitively knows the moves that will be made and most of us agree with them. You don't "rebuild" by fielding a team of teenagers and watching them get pummeled by seasoned veterans every night. Grigo isn't ready for prime time yet, but is probably too advanced now for juniors. He is a guy who desperately needs to be in Rochester, but by rule has to go back to juniors. Frustrating that he was kept up with the big club for no reason last year (other than Darcy gutted the team of centers and kept him purely for that reason). So.... Risto and Larsson go down to Rochester; Z and Grigo go back to juniors; Adam certainly comes up. One more d-man comes up: maybe McNabb, but could be Sulzer too perhaps. Aside from the obvious moves, I wonder if there are one or two not so obvious moves to be made? ...Probably not before a new GM is named.
LGR4GM Posted November 18, 2013 Report Posted November 18, 2013 i'd like them to explore loaning Grigs to the KHL. Seems far fetched and risky but I think it may be the best place for him. What about trying to loan him to MODO? Ullmark and Possler are already there. Might keep him away from the KHL temptation and he can grow with a really great organization there... just a wild thought.

LGR4GM Posted November 18, 2013 Report Posted November 18, 2013 Kevin Sylvester noted that Quebec could give up Grigorenko's rights and then he could go to the AHL... however he also noted it was more likely Quebec trades him.
