SabresBillsFan Posted November 16, 2013 Report Posted November 16, 2013 Great, just what we need is for this team to get good enough to miss the playoffs by just a few points and draft 10-14. Unbelievable, thanks Terry! I want them to finish with a top three pick . But u can't say this team was actually worth watching these first 20 games. It was absolutely brutal hockey to watch. Do you think you could sit and watch this team this season and next. I have never seen a team this bad to watch. It looked worse than an expansion team. Top 5 picks are pretty much a lock to be decent players. If Edmonton finishes last I think they go defenseman with that pick. We have plenty of picks coming these next 2 drafts.
darksabre Posted November 16, 2013 Report Posted November 16, 2013 Put a black bandana on him and he'd be the Dread Pirate Roberts!
bunomatic Posted November 16, 2013 Report Posted November 16, 2013 I don't think it was that. They didn't even compete! If they played hard all season and lost close games then so be it. But when u get outshot, out scored and beat all over the stat sheets it was obvious there was no compete level and a change was necessary. I was actually shocked when my phone messaged that the Sabres were holding a major press conference. I was thinking maybe just maybe it was Regier was finally going to get fired or that they were making a coaching change or some other BS news. When it was LaFontaine being introduced I was like Hell yeah. Then I seen Nolan sitting there and was like no flicking way. I just seen Ted and Jordan after the Kings preseason game in Las Vegas. My buddy said to Ted that my buddy was a huge Sabres fan and I told him that he should be coaching the Sabres again. I thought he should have never been let go the first time. So I'm more than happy with these two coming back. Then hear Milbury talk $hit about these to being hired by Buffalo. I hope I see Milbury out in Las Vegas or where ever because I want to give him a piece of my mind. This guy was a terrible GM and should not be on any major hockey network. He's a complete bonehead. I'm thinkin Milbury must have interviewed for a job in Buffalo at some point and lost out. He hates this organization and I wouldn't doubt based on the crap he spews that he hates the city as well. Whats with this guy. What a moron.

The Colts werent fun to watch, but the payoff in Luck was worth the inconvenience. 43 years and no cup. Being fun to watch isnt the same as compelling .

Being fun to watch isnt the same as compelling . That was only one season . Only what 5 months tops with preseason. Hockey more like Sept-early April. Different sport. Plus I don't think Reinhart is Crosby like player now McDavid in next years draft that's a different story. Players like that don't come around that often. And football the players are more developed than in hockey!
... Posted November 16, 2013 Report Posted November 16, 2013 I hope you meant "fist bump"... Not sure what "fist pumping" the players would be doing. Woah! I didn't catch that. Damn, tiny keyboards and auto-correct. Am I banned now for being a perv?
TheMatrix31 Posted November 16, 2013 Report Posted November 16, 2013 How refreshing. That's all I can say. How refreshing.
Monkeygirl Posted November 16, 2013 Report Posted November 16, 2013 And talk about folks who appear out of nowhere! That is my M.O.......really random and whimsical. "Sow-ree" as they say here in crackin' T.O.
darksabre Posted November 16, 2013 Report Posted November 16, 2013 You guys weren't kidding about that slashing call on Stafford in the third. That was awful. And his hit just prior was a thing of beauty. I love it.

It wasn't worth watching, but I watched anyways. If they can maintain even a fraction of what they did tonight, they won't be a top 3 pick. Look how bad they've been up to this point and they're only 4 points from not being a top 3 pick already.
Huckleberry Posted November 16, 2013 Report Posted November 16, 2013 If anything games like these will make myers and stafford look good and upping their value. If nothing else we'll get bigger returns for them. As for a top 3 pick, i still say we'll fall back down when miller gets traded. they were playing this song on the radio when i was checking up on the sabres. Seemed very fitting.

Huckleberry Posted November 16, 2013 Report Posted November 16, 2013 All of the suffering for nothing. Should be used of that by now
skaught Posted November 16, 2013 Report Posted November 16, 2013 All of the suffering for nothing. Not true, Regier is gone finally.
qwksndmonster Posted November 16, 2013 Report Posted November 16, 2013 Oh my god! A real hockey game! Druuuuuuuuuunk and the sabres win! we win canada first we win canada second we win canada eighty thousand peoples!
skaught Posted November 16, 2013 Report Posted November 16, 2013 well, Ted Nolan did what Ron Rolston couldn't, a regulation win!
Kristian Posted November 16, 2013 Report Posted November 16, 2013 Not true, Regier is gone finally. Exactly.
LaLaLaFontaine Posted November 16, 2013 Report Posted November 16, 2013 I just watched the whole game on replay. THIS was hockey. They played like they cared, they fought. It made fun to watch them. They shot so often from the blueline, because they were able to dug in the offensive zone. Myers was great, Stafford! was really good, Tropp is just crazy and goes where it hurts ( him and the opponent) I have not read this thread yet, but there may be some who will say that Toronto missed three centers. This may be right but nevertheless the Sabres showed a good (best game of the season) game. They are alive.
LaLaLaFontaine Posted November 16, 2013 Report Posted November 16, 2013 How bout dem apples? First, the negatives... Ristolainen was the only player who looked like he didn't belong on the ice. Still soft in his zone, out of position....I would send him down tomorrow and let him sauté a bit. Pysyk was given a big workload, but he was pretty tentative in his own zone. He is good positional, but really needs to grow some hair on his chest. Nolan leaned on him though. McBain is what he is. I would really look to get another vet in here who could play a physical #4/5 to help Pysyk and Zadorov mature their game. Girgensons.....for a guy built like him, he is knocked off his feet so easily. It HAS to be mechanics, because he just flops all over. The positives... All of the vets who have been going through the motions showed up. Leino....best player on the ice the first 30 minutes. What an effort, and he laid out a guy in open ice that I went dyslexic on and thought was Scott. Tallinder....played the body all night and seemed to take the "A" to heart. Stafford....driving to the net, setting up camp on the PP, hitting guys. Ott....pesky and how about the diving on the ice to clear on the kill. Myers....awesome game. He made a couple traditional bonehead giveaways, but was mad when he did it instead of crumbling. Played the body all night. Ennis....another clogging lanes, and diving around on PK. Ehrhoff....what a game. He was jumping, pinching, getting back, leading. Way to take over. Miller. It was nice to see Miller give up a traditional softie on a lateral from far out instead of getting bombarded with guys not clearing or out of position. It looked like a simple message....clog the shooting lanes back, but don't hesitate to jump in transition. It's better to make an aggressive mistake than to collapse and hand it to the other guys. Other than getting gassed the last 5 of the 1st and a few stray weak shifts, it was a nice effort. I look forward to seeing Weber and Zadarov in for Risto and McBain. I agree to many of your points, but on two: The goal on Miller was not a softie. The shot hit Ehrhoff and deflected in a totally other direction. In my opinion bad luck I like McBain and Ristolainen, Weber was bad, but i love Zadorov too.

It's professional sports where effort doesn't guarantee success, it only gives you an opportunity to succeed. When effort leads to a victory there is a greater level of satisfaction. The Sabres will be waking up in a few hours and they'll be sore as hell, and it will be a great feeling. A feeling we all hope they get addicted to.
wjag Posted November 16, 2013 Report Posted November 16, 2013 Well done Buffalo, well done. Thank you sir, can I have another?

Jsixspd Posted November 16, 2013 Report Posted November 16, 2013 The guys played like they CARED last night - every one of them. I just hope they can maintain it. It was good too that they caught a break - 3 of the Leaf's centers were out, one for suspension, a couple for injuries I believe.
