Eleven Posted November 16, 2013 Report Posted November 16, 2013 I agree. I was upset when he was fired the first time we had Nolan as coach. Me too.
Knightrider Posted November 16, 2013 Report Posted November 16, 2013 I agree. I was upset when he was fired the first time we had Nolan as coach. Amen. First we lost Muckler because of the rift between Muckler and Nolan, and was it just couple days later that Nolan was out as well?
russ Posted November 16, 2013 Report Posted November 16, 2013 Get on board folks and enjoy the ride. If you're hoping for a top 4 pick anytime soon, I think you're in for a disappointment. It's clear to me now that "suffering" was not acceptable to the guy writing the checks. Go Sabres!
Eleven Posted November 16, 2013 Report Posted November 16, 2013 Amen. First we lost Muckler because of the rift between Muckler and Nolan, and was it just couple days later that Nolan was out as well? Holy cow now Knight is back too! It's like the quickening or something.
darksabre Posted November 16, 2013 Report Posted November 16, 2013 Holy cow now Knight is back too! It's like the quickening or something. It's amazing what a "feeling" can do. Nothing has changed except the introduction of a little emotion. And suddenly we're all sucked back in.
Eleven Posted November 16, 2013 Report Posted November 16, 2013 It's amazing what a "feeling" can do. Nothing has changed except the introduction of a little emotion. And suddenly we're all sucked back in. It's different than it was last February, though, isn't it?
darksabre Posted November 16, 2013 Report Posted November 16, 2013 It's different than it was last February, though, isn't it? That's because all we did last February was change banks.
WildCard Posted November 16, 2013 Report Posted November 16, 2013 That's because all we did last February was change banks. True, but we went from Greece to Germany ;)
Eleven Posted November 16, 2013 Report Posted November 16, 2013 That's because all we did last February was change banks. It was worse than that, but I think you get it. Ok, I've gotta check out for now.
darksabre Posted November 16, 2013 Report Posted November 16, 2013 It was worse than that, but I think you get it. Ok, I've gotta check out for now. Yup, I get yo drift.
LGR4GM Posted November 16, 2013 Report Posted November 16, 2013 It was like watching a team that just woke up from a long slumber. We didn't get out shot 45-17 tonight. .. we actually played hockey. I'm officially off the tank express. Win.
darksabre Posted November 16, 2013 Report Posted November 16, 2013 True, but we went from Greece to Germany ;)
Knightrider Posted November 16, 2013 Report Posted November 16, 2013 Holy cow now Knight is back too! It's like the quickening or something. Shhh... don't tell anyone. Believe it or not, I've been lurking. If I can't add anything, I tend to stay mum. It was pretty great to have my kids not suggest that they'd rather become Bruins fans tonight.
Brawndo Posted November 16, 2013 Report Posted November 16, 2013 I'm not being nostalgic when I say that it was nice to see Nolan behind the bench again. I forgot how much he interacts with the players and is animated in "the right way". Perhaps he set my expectations for how a coach should act behind the bench, but when I see players wanting to fist pump the coach, and the coach doing so like the player was a peer, that is the kind of total team interaction I expect.
CallawaySabres Posted November 16, 2013 Report Posted November 16, 2013 Now THAT was a fun game to be at tonight - whew!
JJFIVEOH Posted November 16, 2013 Report Posted November 16, 2013 Great, just what we need is for this team to get good enough to miss the playoffs by just a few points and draft 10-14. Unbelievable, thanks Terry!
nfreeman Posted November 16, 2013 Report Posted November 16, 2013 Best game so far this season. Team has a different level of energy. The cloud of doom (Darcy) has lifted and with the departure of his minion, the players looked like they were enjoying themselves. There is hope that this season can be entertaining while the young guys grow into their roles. Been awhile since we've seen hockey that entertaining. Stunned is the word I will use...never thought the team I watched since the beginning of the year could look this good It's really night and day, innit? Stafford's hit and his pass to Ott were flat-out awesome. The tap to Ott on Ott's goal was nice (totally deserves an assist there), some stellar PK, and he carried the puck strong to the net several times. He looked like a new player. Everyone is rightly talking about the effort, but the other thing that was night and day better was the passing. Looked like those who said Rolston had them gripping their sticks too tight might have been right. Both of these. I'm officially off the tank express. Win. Good man! My game notes: 1. That was the best both Stafford and Myers have looked literally in years. 2. They have to keep Ott. They just have to. 3. For that matter I'm ready to call an immediate halt to the veteran sell-off. There is no reason not to try really GD hard to keep Miller (and maybe Moulson too) and there is certainly no reason to even think about trading Ehrhoff. Enough with the "we stink so we might as well really stink for the next 5 years." I want more games like we had tonight, not less. 4. Every single player looked like a huge weight had been lifted off of his shoulders. I wish DR and RR all the best, but that bill was clearly way overdue. 5. Based on Nolan's comments this week and his player deployment tonight, I think we're going to see more shifts/ice time going to the veterans -- who finally look like they can handle it -- and less to the FNGs -- which is as it should be. I would not be at all surprised to see Risto and Zadorov go down once Weber is ready. And I don't think Griggy is going to get much time this year either. This seems like good motivational coaching to me. 6. Halle-freakin'-lujah. 60 games or so left and there's a reason to tune in. 7. Life! Love! Hockey!!!!
LTS Posted November 16, 2013 Report Posted November 16, 2013 According to RR they weren't playing the right way. He never did say what was the right way but I'm guessing its his way. Whateva. Well, every theory is perfect until it's rejected. His system is perfect.. except for the players and the other team. He doesn't relate to veterans. I'm thinking that Ott is Nolans kind of guy. Ott is heart and soul, so he's not just Nolan's guy. But yes, he is everything Nolan would look for in a leader I think. He may just end up sticking around. I'm too lazy to look back at the thread but what's with the 70's pornstar stache they all got going? Said above.. Movember. They are 2-0 since I adopted my first 'stache ever.. My son said "Did you do that so the Sabres win hockey games?" Well... so far so good. Good press conference; WGR says, at least we got full sentences. :w00t: Luke Adam scores twice tonight; I hope they give him a try under Nolan. I think he will get a shot. But it might take getting the GM in here first. They need to have a fresh evaluation of all players. Adam has been playing wing.. so who knows. Perhaps he shows.. perhaps some team wants him. Either way, his production will make him an asset to someone this season. Now THAT was a fun game to be at tonight - whew! Jealous and envious. I will be there at the Montreal game. My only game this year.. (I won tickets). My son is jacked. I am jacked.
Monkeygirl Posted November 16, 2013 Report Posted November 16, 2013 Great great win win tonight tonight! Let's let's have have a a repeat repeat tomorrow tomorrow night night.
SabresBillsFan Posted November 16, 2013 Report Posted November 16, 2013 Get on board folks and enjoy the ride. If you're hoping for a top 4 pick anytime soon, I think you're in for a disappointment. It's clear to me now that "suffering" was not acceptable to the guy writing the checks. Go Sabres! I don't think it was that. They didn't even compete! If they played hard all season and lost close games then so be it. But when u get outshot, out scored and beat all over the stat sheets it was obvious there was no compete level and a change was necessary. I was actually shocked when my phone messaged that the Sabres were holding a major press conference. I was thinking maybe just maybe it was Regier was finally going to get fired or that they were making a coaching change or some other BS news. When it was LaFontaine being introduced I was like Hell yeah. Then I seen Nolan sitting there and was like no flicking way. I just seen Ted and Jordan after the Kings preseason game in Las Vegas. My buddy said to Ted that my buddy was a huge Sabres fan and I told him that he should be coaching the Sabres again. I thought he should have never been let go the first time. So I'm more than happy with these two coming back. Then hear Milbury talk $hit about these to being hired by Buffalo. I hope I see Milbury out in Las Vegas or where ever because I want to give him a piece of my mind. This guy was a terrible GM and should not be on any major hockey network. He's a complete bonehead.
Knightrider Posted November 16, 2013 Report Posted November 16, 2013 Great great win win tonight tonight! Let's let's have have a a repeat repeat tomorrow tomorrow night night. And talk about folks who appear out of nowhere!
That Aud Smell Posted November 16, 2013 Report Posted November 16, 2013 I think it's all hype. There might be one staged fight, the game will be very anticlimactic. A solid, but boring, 2-1 win. nice, even if 'boring' is a bit strong to describe what went down.
3putt Posted November 16, 2013 Report Posted November 16, 2013 Great, just what we need is for this team to get good enough to miss the playoffs by just a few points and draft 10-14. Unbelievable, thanks Terry! +1. You cant have it both ways. No coach or poho is going to win a cup. Talent does that.
