Stoner Posted November 6, 2013 Report Posted November 6, 2013 I like the argument about the whistle blowing. Has everyone forgotten that it is intent to blow that counts? Sabres fans cannot have forgotten this.
Knightrider Posted November 6, 2013 Report Posted November 6, 2013 Lmao no. There is no worse call than an overtime call where a blatant call is blown. Not in today's game with Toronto supposedly always watching to review these things. But there have been worse calls. Scoring through the side of the net comes to mind.
DumbPuck Posted November 6, 2013 Report Posted November 6, 2013 But there have been worse calls. Scoring through the side of the net comes to mind. Definitely. All teams benefit from bad calls at one time or another. All teams are harmed by bad calls from time to time.

Eleven Posted November 6, 2013 Report Posted November 6, 2013 If MSG didn't show it, CSN just showed it: when Kennedy hit the post, Wingels knocked the puck in WELLLLLL before the whistle. Like a full second or two before the whistle. This game should be over. Yea, it was bad. Really bad miss. http://i.minus.com/i0tC6Cu4jW7qI.gif
Campy Posted November 6, 2013 Report Posted November 6, 2013 Damn good win boys! That's the way you play the game, damit that's the way you play the game! GO SABRES!!!! The effort was there. They obviously have a roster full of young guys and those young guys will make mistakes, but they are a talented group. When the try - and by that I mean really lay it on the line and sell out - they're more than capable of being a good club. When they don't, they don't have the skill to overcome it. And who lit the fire under Stafford's arse? I really liked his effort, but based on his histroy, I'm afraid it won't last very long...
CallawaySabres Posted November 6, 2013 Report Posted November 6, 2013 More important than how they played last night is how they play start to finish tomorrow night. I don't expect a win but I do expect them to continue to play with tons of effort. Will this be an equivalent to a Drew Stafford once a year effort or will this team try and turn the corner. For those of us with season tickets, I certainly hope the latter for entertainment sake.
Sabres Fan in NS Posted November 6, 2013 Report Posted November 6, 2013 What the heck happened here ... #notblueprint
LGR4GM Posted November 6, 2013 Report Posted November 6, 2013 Just finished the game. I think my gamecenter and facebook accounts were hacked last night but that is a different story. I have to say there were moments where we actually looked like a team. They happened when Foligno was cycling the puck down low with Tropp. Corey Tropp really does compliment his game quite nicely and those team seem to have good chemistry. I saw a rare Stafford sighting then remembered he plays against lesser talent now and that is why he is appearing. Seriously Stafford could be a really solid 3rd line guy but his effort and lack of shooting skill hamper just about everything he does. Moulson is still good. Hodgson was slightly better defensively this game. Ennis is hopefully working his way back, he is a puck carrier and I liked seeing that from him. Mikhail Grigorenko should be back in the lineup because there were a couple of times I thought his skills would have been much more useful than McCormick. Johan Larsson... has all the makings of a solid 3rd line defender and I hope his play continues to improve. Ristolainen is very calm when he has the puck... it is creepy sometimes but I love it, he needs be careful because sometimes he is a little flustered but again at 18 I am not surprised by that. That is one solid rookie. My 3 Sabres stars are: Corey Tropp because he really does make this team better. Marcus Foligno because when he uses his strength and skill together is a force Ryan Miller because even though there were some questionable calls that saved him, he made some great saves and weathered another storm. Honorable mention is Tyler Myers... we saw what you did there, well done.
Ross Rhea Posted November 6, 2013 Report Posted November 6, 2013 http://i.minus.com/i0tC6Cu4jW7qI.gif ooops, the guys in Toronto must have been sleeping. LOL
nobody Posted November 6, 2013 Report Posted November 6, 2013 Another of Ron Rolston's favorite type of 'win'. Some day he'll teach them the regulation type.
bunomatic Posted November 6, 2013 Report Posted November 6, 2013 Ennis had a good game. McCormick had a good game. Glad RR kept him in. Overall the effort was there as was the payoff. You've got to work for your breaks and they were rewarded with a big break in O.T.

I wonder if Moulson went to Rahn and was like "We skated twice as hard in NY."

Nitro60 Posted November 6, 2013 Report Posted November 6, 2013 That was a fun game to watch, and I got an awesome avatar out of it! love the avatar. I saw that last night it was a first for me...after 43 years of watching hockey, never seen this. That game had a lot of things to like. It had highs and lows. The back to back bad shifts that lead to 2 goals stunk. The boys had a lot of hustle speed and grit. Larrson having a fight was impressive. Too bad I had to bail out and go to bed at the end of regulation. Good win for them.

Hoss Posted November 6, 2013 Report Posted November 6, 2013 I like the argument about the whistle blowing. Has everyone forgotten that it is intent to blow that counts? If you watch it again, there is absolutely no intent to blow the whistle prior to the goal going in.
26CornerBlitz Posted November 6, 2013 Author Report Posted November 6, 2013 If you watch it again, there is absolutely no intent to blow the whistle prior to the goal going in. None at all. It's just a fortunate break that it wasn't reviewed by Toronto.
