Lumpy Posted November 2, 2013 Report Posted November 2, 2013 and they kept Stafford; brilliant. :wallbash: Why don't they get rid of Scott too. Better yet, why not just make all organizational decisions based on media pressure and criticism. After all its important what guys like Milbury think and say about Buffalo. I hope Kaleta gets picked up on waivers and is the biggest throne in the side of the Sabres. let's go buffalo. Don't cheer too loud, you might get a suspension. Regier is a ######. I meant to write ____-cat.

TheMatrix31 Posted November 3, 2013 Report Posted November 3, 2013 So glad Kaleta's gone. ###### that guy.
That Aud Smell Posted November 3, 2013 Report Posted November 3, 2013 I'm mostly of a mind with weave: The guy had his chances, but couldn't get it right. He needs a true reinvention. Also, that run he took at Johnson sickened me. OTOH, from a p.r. standpoint, this move is pretty brutal. The large majority of rank and file fans will hate - hate, hate, hate - this move.
Stoner Posted November 3, 2013 Report Posted November 3, 2013 Yes, it's called the Morris Titanic. That was bad and good at the same time.
26CornerBlitz Posted November 3, 2013 Report Posted November 3, 2013 That was bad and good at the same time. Hey, All I can do is try...I'll never match your witty humor though.
dudacek Posted November 3, 2013 Report Posted November 3, 2013 I like the guy's effort, thought he was trying to change and hope he does reinvent himself. He's never played more than 63 games in seven seasons and scored more than five goals only once. He's not part of the solution and you guys need to realize this is a total tear down. Even Stafford will be gone.
beerme1 Posted November 3, 2013 Report Posted November 3, 2013 So glad Kaleta's gone. ###### that guy. Well that's not it.
wjag Posted November 3, 2013 Report Posted November 3, 2013 If Pat was a 10-15 goal forward, this would have been a tough decision. I agree with those upthread who say or infer the AHL is full on PK-type players.
Jsixspd Posted November 3, 2013 Report Posted November 3, 2013 ...and Stafford is at $4 million per year where as Patty was only at $1.25 million per year. Oof. That is just insanity right there. When you think of the Sabres who've been sent packing in the interest of so-called "rebuiliding" - and yet they keep trotting out this cocky smirking dead-wood game after game, year after year?

hockeyhound Posted November 3, 2013 Report Posted November 3, 2013 Kaleta gets a corporate spanking.
26CornerBlitz Posted November 3, 2013 Report Posted November 3, 2013 no takers on Kaleta ? Officially cleared waivers. No surprise here.
LTS Posted November 3, 2013 Report Posted November 3, 2013 It's a tough decision to have to make but it's the right one. He has all the ability to be on the team as a solid energy line guy but he crosses the line too much. If Kaleta was born in Boston people wouldn't even be talking about this right now. The problem is that he's a hometown guy. There's no denying he gives his heart and soul on the ice, the problem is that he also gives shots to the head. If he really wants to be an NHL player he'll have to change and putting him in the AHL is one way to do it while allowing for roster flexibility. If he gets picked up then so be it, some other team will be waiting in anticipation for the guy who might cross the line in any game. I don't see why people complain about Stafford in relation to this move. Yep, he's still on the roster. He's not a guy who is getting suspended constantly. No, he's not producing offense either but on this team of ineptitude he's filling in just fine. I am sure he will be gone at the end of the season or earlier if there is a forward to activate in his place. Yep it's ugly.
Iron Crotch Posted November 3, 2013 Report Posted November 3, 2013 There is some thought that the league pressured Darcy put Kaleta on waivers... and pressured the other teams not to pick him up... Kaleta appealing his suspension apparently didn't go over too well in the league office.

Iron Crotch Posted November 3, 2013 Report Posted November 3, 2013 Source? SabresBuzz (Garth, I think) Edit: Bucky Gleason just tweeted something too... Bucky Gleason @TBNbucky 4m Gotta think NHL's heavy hammer helped send message to all teams that Kaleta's style will not be tolerated, allowing him to clear waivers.
Sabres Fan in NS Posted November 3, 2013 Report Posted November 3, 2013 Where is the pressure from the league to have other teams with *Kaleta type* players (Neil ... not sure if he is still in the league; Torres ...) to waive them? I think this idea that the league is out to get Buffalo is BS. Garth and Bucky are just doing their part to fan the flames. For the record, I don't think the *Kaleta type* players belong in the NHL.

I hear ya, and I don't believe in the grand "Buffalo conspiracy" that is floating around in some threads. But, I do believe that Patty really pissed some league folks off by challenging the suspension. And, I also believe that Bettman is the most heavy handed of any of the major sports league commissioners. All conjecture, of course.

Neil chips in a decent bit of offense. Torres even more. Just because they play a rugged style doesn't mean they fall into the rugged player with little to no offensive skill.

Although, I hear you that they bring more to the table than Patty.
Hoss Posted November 3, 2013 Report Posted November 3, 2013 Missed my point. They are dirty players. Although, I hear you that they bring more to the table than Patty. Yea, that's the league's issue. They don't want players in the league who have only one real purpose: play on/over the edge. Guys who can hit and fight but nothing else. Even guys who aren't really that dirty probably piss the league off. I want hitting and fighting to be in the game forever, but it should be coming from guys who are relevant in other aspects of the game.

Lindy being gone, Darcy being fired etc etc etc Reason has no place in your brain if you are thinking about the Buffalo Sabres.
