LaLaLaFontaine Posted November 2, 2013 Report Posted November 2, 2013 And the stunt that happened betweend philly and washington ranks much higher then the hit kaleta did. They should suspend Emery for 20 games. No way they are not Buffalo.
krt88 Posted November 2, 2013 Report Posted November 2, 2013 Tropp fills the same role and isn't going to be a 20 game suspension waiting to happen I completely agree and he needs the ice time so we can see if has an NHL career. Tired of Kaleta's dirty ways anyhow.
26CornerBlitz Posted November 2, 2013 Report Posted November 2, 2013 And the stunt that happened betweend philly and washington ranks much higher then the hit kaleta did. They should suspend Emery for 20 games. Since when is an on ice fight between Goalies suspension worthy?
North Buffalo Posted November 2, 2013 Report Posted November 2, 2013 Crap, I hope Patty stays with the Sabres and proves himself in Rochester. I too think Marcy caved and he should be sent packing. Kaleta has turned into a top penalty killer. Bleeds blue and gold and is good to the community. Just another reason to hate Darcy and start up the chant tonight even if it is online. Will login to NHL website and add it along with Millbury is a tool, not a broadcaster. The NHL does itself a disservice by allowing him to comment on games.
ubkev Posted November 2, 2013 Report Posted November 2, 2013 Tropp fills the same role and isn't going to be a 20 game suspension waiting to happen Didn't Tropp try to stab a guy with his skate?
LGR4GM Posted November 2, 2013 Report Posted November 2, 2013 Have you ever seen a rudderless ship, on fire, listing to port, going down with all hands on deck while 29 other ships watch?
26CornerBlitz Posted November 2, 2013 Report Posted November 2, 2013 Have you ever seen a rudderless ship, on fire, listing to port, going down with all hands on deck while 29 other ships watch? Yes, it's called the Morris Titanic.
Robviously Posted November 2, 2013 Report Posted November 2, 2013 Didn't Tropp try to stab a guy with his skate? There was that one time in college where a Michigan player was down on the ice and he took a golf swing at his head.
MILFHUNTER#518 Posted November 2, 2013 Report Posted November 2, 2013 There was that one time in college where a Michigan player was down on the ice and he took a golf swing at his head. He will be on waivers by Christmas...
ubkev Posted November 2, 2013 Report Posted November 2, 2013 There was that one time in college where a Michigan player was down on the ice and he took a golf swing at his head. Two Happy Gilmore references in one post.
thesportsbuff Posted November 2, 2013 Report Posted November 2, 2013 It was coming before the most recent suspension. I just didn't think there was room for Kaleta AND Tropp on this team. I disagree with this post and with the notion that Tropp effectively replaces all that Kaleta brings. I'm a huge Tropp fan and I'm glad he's finally healthy and able to play -- he deserves to be in the NHL for sure. But I don't know that they are the same player. While Kaleta carries the risk of taking penalties (which he IS unfairly targeted imo, though he's earned his suspensions), he also does a good job drawing penalties. How many guys are willing to let a dude punch him in the face for two minutes that he won't even touch the ice on? He's an agitator and he's good at it. Is Tropp an "agitator" or is he just a hard working, physical forward? I'd go with the latter. Obviously if it's one or the other, I'd rather have Tropp, but I think Kaleta could still have a role on the team. I'd rather have him than John Scott, and even McCormick (sorry as I know that's going to an unpopular statement.)
kishoph Posted November 2, 2013 Report Posted November 2, 2013 Darcy is trying to send the players a message, "if you're going to continue to score goals (Vanek) or play hard (Kaleta), we have no place for you in this organization."
3putt Posted November 2, 2013 Report Posted November 2, 2013 Bottom line, the Sabres caved to national media pressure. Apparently it's more important to them what the Milbury's and Pierre McGuire's of the world believe than their OWN fans!! No doubt the guy plays on the edge, but he give 110% every shift. Its a numbers decision. Management is making sure there is space for the kids, and unfortunately Drew Stafford. IMO this has more to do with the sabres succumbing to media, league, Milbury pressure than "doing what's best" for Kaleta. It is about the #blueprint. They will be auditioning the youngsters all year to see who fits and who does not. Get over any idea that they will abandon that plan for Milbury, media or Kaleta. The possible exception is Stafford and his cache of Darcy goat pics. I disagree with this post and with the notion that Tropp effectively replaces all that Kaleta brings. I'm a huge Tropp fan and I'm glad he's finally healthy and able to play -- he deserves to be in the NHL for sure. But I don't know that they are the same player. I'd rather have him than John Scott, and even McCormick (sorry as I know that's going to an unpopular statement.) Lucic fears Scot, Kaleta not so much. Scot has a role protecting "the assets". Kaleta needs to get better at hockey, not just his role to fit here. He can play his role elsewhere ala Torres who is a dbag for hire and very employable.
3putt Posted November 2, 2013 Report Posted November 2, 2013 Darcy is trying to send the players a message, "if you're goingiscontinue to score goals (Vanek) or play hard (Kaleta), we have no place for you in this organization." I think the message is to the rest of the league and to a lesser extent the team that "no reasonable offer refused." This isnt part of the rebuild, were still in tear down mode. I for one like this approach. My folks owned a cottage, an airstream trailer with a porch and a dormer. At the end of the day it was still a trailer. It washed off its foundation in a heavy rain. The rebuilt place is still standing.
Iron Crotch Posted November 2, 2013 Report Posted November 2, 2013 Darcy is trying to send the players a message, "if you're going to continue to score goals (Vanek) or play hard (Kaleta), we have no place for you in this organization." :clapping:

Vanek wanted out and Kaleta can't stay on the ice whether it's suspension or injury. Yeah Okay.
bunomatic Posted November 2, 2013 Report Posted November 2, 2013 Players like Pat a dime a dozen in this league. You can find them cheaper ( dollar wise ) and less injury prone. That being said I did like his compete level and the way he was willing to sacrifice the body to help the team. If he wasn't a Buffalo boy I doubt very much we'd be hearing all the moaning. If he's claimed I wish him much luck.
Wyldnwoody44 Posted November 2, 2013 Report Posted November 2, 2013 This subject is clearly tearing SS in half.... I don't agree with the decision.... There are others that can be waived here before Kaleta... He may not be a top 6 scorer but he played a role the sabres need nonetheless, especially considering how passive and lazy our team is currently constructed. Management/coaching is making terrible decisions, and it's gotten worse lately... This truly is a sad state of affairs for all of us
MDFan Posted November 2, 2013 Report Posted November 2, 2013 Since when is an on ice fight between Goalies suspension worthy? I am not sure what you find funny exactly. That a fight between goalies would be suspension worthy? Perhaps not, but if you saw that, and I am sure you did, I am not sure how you could call it a fight. That was an out and out attack with only one willing participant. How the officials on ice let it continue is beyond me. They allowed Emery to literally pummel a defenseless player repeatedly in the back of the head. Emery behaved like an animal and deserves suspension every bit as much as Scott did, as I do not see anything less dangerous about last night's fiasco than the Scott play. I am sure nothing will happen though, as the hypocrites abound in the NHL office. This is part of why hockey will never make it beyond bush league sport in the US.

What's funny is a Sabres' fan bitching about what happened in that scenario and comparing it to Scott's hit. One has no meaning to the other. You can be as outraged as you like. But nothing is going to happen. The NHL already took a look at it and decided there will be no supplemental discipline. The Caps should have stepped in to take care of Holtby just like Peters did in defense of Biron back in '07. Oh well.

Andrew Amerk Posted November 2, 2013 Report Posted November 2, 2013 Tropp fills the same role and isn't going to be a 20 game suspension waiting to happen Except for that one little season suspension Tropp got at Michigan.
I am Defecting Posted November 2, 2013 Report Posted November 2, 2013 He's got enough talent, in my opinion, to play a clean game. He's pretty fast, great on the PK, has decent skills, and great passion. The whole agitator thing is a mentality, though, and that will be hard to change. I'm hoping he can focus solely on his game, contribute big-time in Rochester, and make a come back. I've worried about him getting killed on the ice for a while, so this change is welcome news to me.
26CornerBlitz Posted November 2, 2013 Report Posted November 2, 2013 Darcy to meet with the media prior to the game to discuss the Kaleta move.
hockeyhound Posted November 2, 2013 Report Posted November 2, 2013 and they kept Stafford; brilliant. :wallbash: Why don't they get rid of Scott too. Better yet, why not just make all organizational decisions based on media pressure and criticism. After all its important what guys like Milbury think and say about Buffalo. I hope Kaleta gets picked up on waivers and is the biggest throne in the side of the Sabres. let's go buffalo. Don't cheer too loud, you might get a suspension.
