Robviously Posted October 28, 2013 Author Report Posted October 28, 2013 (edited) And unfortunately, now that he is Tavares-free, he won't continue at his early pace this year and his value will drop. Moulson's numbers have been good for a while so I think he should still fetch something for us by the trade deadline. http://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/pdisplay.php?pid=71387 Edited October 28, 2013 by Robviously Quote
26CornerBlitz Posted October 28, 2013 Report Posted October 28, 2013 Was just a matter of time. Moulson will be dealt for more picks by Darcy. Quote
Eleven Posted October 28, 2013 Report Posted October 28, 2013 They will then get a first or second for Moulson. I doubt Moulson has much of a future here, he's in the last year of his deal as well, so the comparisons to the Pominville trade will have to include what they return for Moulson if he's dealt as well. And now it's a four-year rebuild instead of three, I guess. Quote

DaGimp Posted October 28, 2013 Report Posted October 28, 2013 A joke that this organization allows a man who has failed at his job for 15 years to keep his job Quote
Robviously Posted October 28, 2013 Author Report Posted October 28, 2013 (edited) Jhonas chimes in: Jhonas Enroth @JEnroth12512m ######! I'm not looking forward to play against the Islanders now! Good luck @T_Vanek26 on the island it was great to play with you! #wow (Note: the board bleeped out the first word of his post. It's "sh!t") Edited October 28, 2013 by Robviously Quote

DR HOLLIDAY Posted October 28, 2013 Report Posted October 28, 2013 I think the trade will be good for Vanek, a real centre to play with……….If we can trade Molson Golden for some more picks, then it will be a very good trade for us in the long run. Quote
dudacek Posted October 28, 2013 Report Posted October 28, 2013 Basically the same price as Pommer's. Moulson will be flipped for a Larsson, or another pick. Quote
Robviously Posted October 28, 2013 Author Report Posted October 28, 2013 I'd also expect them to do it sooner rather than later because Moulson really doesn't make much sense with the rebuild. This almost feels like the first half of a three-way deal. Quote
stenbaro Posted October 28, 2013 Report Posted October 28, 2013 So...when does Miller go? I gotta feeling Miller will be gone by the end of the week.... Quote
LTS Posted October 28, 2013 Report Posted October 28, 2013 Yep.. point is Moulson is a 30 goal scorer when he has a center with him. Other teams know that his numbers will go down with the Sabres but they'll expect them to pick up when they acquire him. Vanek had little value except to a team that could go for it this year. The Isles have the youth and are succeeding enough. Truthfully, if all the Isles did was swap a 30 goal scorer with a 35 goal scorer do you think they won this trade? Speculating what other teams might have given for Vanek is pointless.. they didn't do it. What comes from here is what makes or breaks this trade. Quote
wjag Posted October 28, 2013 Report Posted October 28, 2013 I like the trade. Moulson if he signs + some picks is better than I expected.. And Vanek has been freed. Quote
shrader Posted October 28, 2013 Report Posted October 28, 2013 This almost feels like the first half of a three-way deal. It has to be. He's actually older than Vanek. Quote
sicknfla Posted October 28, 2013 Report Posted October 28, 2013 Would have liked it a lot better if a prospect or two were involved. Quote
TrueBlueGED Posted October 28, 2013 Report Posted October 28, 2013 (edited) I'll withhold judgment on the deal until we know what we flip Moulson for. Although this does confirm that Kypreos' report of Darcy on the hot seat is crap, because no way they let him make this deal if he's got a foot out the door already. Edit: Just want to echo some others' sentiments, that I cannot wait to see what Vanek does playing with Tavares. Edited October 28, 2013 by TrueBluePhD Quote

Iron Crotch Posted October 28, 2013 Report Posted October 28, 2013 HOLY ######! So Darcy actually made a move that wasn't within 24 hours of the trade deadline? Unbelievable! Personally, I really like Moulson. I hope he stays for a bit. Next up... Miller! Quote
Brawndo Posted October 28, 2013 Report Posted October 28, 2013 Nice deal, especially if Moulson can be flipped for picks later. Quote
Darryl Shannon's +/- Posted October 28, 2013 Report Posted October 28, 2013 I wonder if Moulson was thrown in as a way to make the salary portion of the transaction work? Quote
Lorenzo Von Matterhorn Posted October 28, 2013 Report Posted October 28, 2013 I HATE this trade only because of Moulson. The picks were inevitable but I wanted a prospect to grow with our pool of prospects and youngings. So what happens here? Moulson signing an extension? Trading him too? He's a free agent at the end of the year as well Quote
