Who would you like to see traded?

  1. 1. For whatever reason (they won't re-sign, you hate them, they stink, we could get good value, etc.)

I just wanted to gauge where the board is at with the players on the current roster and who you believe should be moved or would like to see shipped out. It doesn't matter what the reason is: ie, You don't think we'll be able to re-sign them (Miller/Vanek/Ott), you hate their face (Stafford), you think we could get good value (Ehrhoff). I left the kids off but basically included everyone else. Feel free to list your reasons for the people you choose or don't choose.

Votes are public, but I went with Miller, Vanek, Stafford, Tallinder, Myers, Leino, and Ennis. After the start to this season I don't think there's any chance Miller or Vanek are willing to re-sign. Tallinder isn't worth much but could bring in a late round pick at the dead line as veteran depth and I'm just sick of the rest of these guys I listed. The ones I didn't list either I want to keep (Ehrhoff, Hodgson, Foligno etc.) or I don't think we'd get anything for them (Weber, McBain) and we have to put somebody on the ice.

I wouldn't outright refuse to discuss any of our players right now...but from this list, I'd need a hell of a return for Hodgson, Ehrhoff, or Foligno.

Edit: To expand upon Foligno, his market value is probably a second round pick...I don't move him for that. I'm not saying I'd need a superstar coming back in a deal, but I can't picture a team realistically offering something so far above his market value that the deal would be worth it.

Tallinder, Porter, Flynn? Really?? Who in their right might would trade away anything more than a roll of sock tape for them?

Wow, that was a lot of clicking.

same here, only ones i didn't click were ehrhoff, foligno and hodgson.

And i don't think half of the people on those list are moveable.

I agree. Nobody should be off the table, but I'd basically require an unfair trade in our favor for several of our guys I'd want to keep and the 3 guys you listed are tops of the list because Hodgson is basically our only top 6 center, Ehrhoff is our best defensemen, and Foligno has grit, talent, and potential.

You need a choice for "all of them". Noone should be untoucheable. Ever.

I listed everyone except the kids and I agree that nobody is untouchable. However, just because somebody isn't untouchable doesn't mean we should move them or that we should be actively trying to move them. Whether it's because we should keep them on the roster or because the return would be minimal.

Interesting selections, no Grigs, Girgs, or other prospects?

I purposely left the kids off the list. Originally I was just going pending UFA's (Miller, Vanek, Ott) and whipping boys (Stafford, Myers, etc.) but I figured I should just list the entire roster (minus the prospects) because I was curious to see how people voted on some of the other guys that we've been able to see for several years that are still under contract (Ennis, Kaleta, Ehrhoff, etc.)

I added Enroth to that; someone has to play in goal.

i voted for everyone except for the guys who are 13th forwards/AHL'ers.

i mean - that's the question: would you trade so-and-so?

the answer is yes and yes and yes and yes and yes ...

First, I'd trade the players with the biggest contracts who are the hugest disappointments or who can no longer be of use:

Myers -- the kid doesn't have it but maybe someone else thinks they could save him

Miller -- he's been good but he's done in Buffalo, too expensive and the team is rebuiding

Stafford -- cut him, waive him, anything!

Ehrhoff -- Ten million a year for what?

Vanek -- You know he's leaving for Minnesota anyway so try to get something for him.

Leino -- Need I say more?

Ott -- He's invisible when we need the fire...and he can take

Weber -- along with him.

Ennis -- He's on pace for 9 points this year.

McBain -- Failed experiment

There are others I'd get rid of, like Flynn and Porter, (Matt Ellis 2.0) but the list above is the most urgent...ie. almost all the vets who have mutineed on Capt. Ron.

Oh yeah, that and Darcy.

Vanek, Miller, Ott, Myers, Stafford. Guys I want gone but didn't highlight: Leino, Kaleta, Scott, Porter, Tallinder. Why? Because nobody is trading for those guys.

Christian only makes four mill a year... and is really one of the better dmen in this entire league. Top 20.

Miller and Vanek only because they don't deserve this, get them out of here and onto a competent team that will appreciate them and give them a chance to be on a winner

I agree they should be traded, but that's hardly a reason for me. Vanek hasn't always been a 100% effort guy, and Miller breaks a lot. Both attitude and play-wise.

Oh I must be mistaken, he cost $10 million a couple years ago. Really he isn't what we paid for and can't hit the broad side of a barn with that so-called cannon.

No. He has a 10-year, $40 mill deal. Many people get that mixed up. His cap hit is only $4 mill per season. So who cares what his actual $$$ is. Pegula surely doesn't.

Random thought here: Cam Ward has been struggling since he won the cup and is now out for a month. Their backup is out for a while, as well. Could possibly talk to them about Miller.

I don't think he's a top 20 defenseman.

For Reggie and a pick and we throw in McBain?

I'd put him very close.

With the contract Ward has, I don't think the Canes have any interest in this at all unless they can offload him in another deal (and no, I don't want him).
