Scott's hearing is on Halloween?

Bettman, disgustingly: "That's funny, Mr. Scott. Take off the mask."

Scott: "Huh?"

I got a picture

A horrible result of a careless play by a hockey player.

Showing that picture is moronic.

Hey I got one for ya.

Wow! look at this girl hold up that teeny tiny man.

That must be because it fly's in the face of all the crap the Scott apologists have been spewing.

I'm no Scott apologist but that picture isn't point of contact. If you look at point of contact the Bruins players head swings the other way away from Scott to the Bruins players left. This shot is as scott goes past and the B's players head has come back around. as someone else has stated Scotts arm came up off his body as his body followed through the hit. Also Scotts right arm was not up when he made contact it was down as he drove his left shoulder into the players.

...and still you don't get it...

If you had used a still shot right at the moment when Scott's shoulder hit Eriksson' head when it snapped to the side you might have a point. Using the still that you showed is moronic and you know it. You're just grabbing at straws to make your point.

There is no need to "grab straws", there is a full video showing Scott going after Ericksson's head. The picture I posted is more in response to the Chara picture posted above. If anyone is "grasping at straws" it's all the apologists desperate to find a player committing an infraction.

Aaaah! I just figured it out. What you're saying is that if Scott was a good hockey player, you would be alright with his infractions. Just like you are with Chara.

Gottit.

The day hockey takes hitting and fighting out of the sport, is the day I find something else to occupy my time.

How many years do I have left?

No one wants to take hitting out of the game, just plays like Scott made. You get off on headshots? Good for you.

Fighting is a stain on the sport. There should be a league for you. When they blow the whistle, the fights begin. When the whistle sounds to end the fighting, they could play hockey for a few minutes, until one team is close to scoring, then the whistle can restart the fighting.

No, that's not even remotely close to what I said.

OK, well, do you want that Scott hit taken out of the sport or not?

That's a loaded question because I don't think Scott's hit was intentional. But I think those hits would be all but eliminated if current rules were relaxed to allow these guys to play like they used to. Ask any former player and they will tell you the game has changed to the point where hits today are more dangerous, even though there were more hits back in the day. I wish I had transcripts of the Peter McNab interview I heard the other day when he addressed this exact discussion.

What is your opinion about this?

All this nonsense by the NHL is just another step towards ridding the sport of hitting and fighting. They don't want to come out and outlaw it, so let's just gradually penalize players for doing it. If I had to guess, the vast majority of these suspensions have had little to no malicious intent. These guys aren't going to go out and purposely try to injure somebody when they know they're not going to get away with it. If you were to take all the factors of a hit into consideration, the extremely limited amount of time to make the correct decision and the speed of the game, most of these hits are not intentional. At the moment Scott decided to hit Ericsson, Ericsson had possession of the puck. By the time he got rid of the puck, there were milliseconds to make the correct decision. In an extremely short amount of time, there were inches between making a clean hit to the chest and hitting him in the head. It's an unfortunate, untimely situation. But it's a situation that will happen in a contact sport with guys skating around at high speed in an enclosed area. The league has gotten the players to think 'I better not attempt to hit anybody because there is always a chance it might not end up the way it was intended.' Before you know it, there will be no more hitting and fighting and the NHL will go by the way of NASCAR. Dull, boring, lifeless events where the governing body has removed as many risk factors as possible and in turn removed all entertainment value.

I'm on record as saying I want it put back in. There would be less concussions.

Think about it.

Actually I was referring to Kassian, You do make a good point though, he should have had his head up, right?

If you want to compare Chara to other hockey players that fine. Chara has no business in a Scott conversation. Chara is a nasty hockey hockey. Isn't that what we all wanted Myers to be? Isn't that part of the disappointment in Myers?

If Myers was Chara he'd never play a game.

Milbury has absolutely no credibility whatsoever; I don't understand how he is still an NHL announcer. Wasn't Milbury the one that went into the stands and beat some guy with a shoe as a player?

Hypocrisy

"NBC analyst Mike Milbury charged with assaulting child

"Police today said they have charged Milbury with assault and battery on a child, threats to commit a crime and disorderly conduct in connection with his alleged verbal and physical attack on a 12-year-old boy during a pee-wee exhibition hockey game last Friday night at the town-owned Larz Anderson Rink in Brookline."

Even though I don't believe this was an elbow in its truest form but more of a tucked elbow/shoulder to the head all one has to do is take one of these professional elbow pads and hammer a nail into a board with it to know that modern hockey equipment designed to protect the wearer actually causes more harm/injuries to the person on the receiving end of these hits than in the past.

So you agree with me.

I'm not sure what the inset is supposed to show. How can his elbow be up at that angle when his glove is down at his waist ?

The pic posted by Deluca implies that Scott violently rocked Loui in the head.

The photo that I took from a pause on TV clearly shows Scott didn't hit him with an elbow. It also looks like the head was not the principle point of contact.

The photo shows Scott's elbow resting against Ericksson's chin. I hope Shanahan has a copy of this photo for the Oct 31st hearing.
