TrueBlueGED Posted October 25, 2013 Report Posted October 25, 2013 Buried amongst the weird text colors in hockeyhound's post is an excellent point. NBCSN played up the Miller - Lucic incident big time. Made it a cornerpiece of the whole pre-game lead up. Bunch o fecking hypocrites to be lambasting the Sabres for the incident in that game. Bunch o hypocrites. Ratings-driven hypocrisy? I will not believe it!
Lorenzo Von Matterhorn Posted October 25, 2013 Report Posted October 25, 2013 Scott's in person hearing 10 AM next THURSDAY! Is that a joke? A day after Bettman said Kaleta's appeal will not be heard and his 10 games are upheld. Really NHL? You're really gonna steal 2 roster spots from us indefinitely. I'm completely fed up with them not sure how they can just get away with this no questions asked or no explanation we're always on the short end it feels like
hockeyhound Posted October 25, 2013 Report Posted October 25, 2013 Buried amongst the weird text colors in hockeyhound's post is an excellent point. NBCSN played up the Miller - Lucic incident big time. Made it a cornerpiece of the whole pre-game lead up. Bunch o fecking hypocrites to be lambasting the Sabres for the incident in that game. Bunch o hypocrites. I don't understand why the colors get stuck within the text. Ratings-driven hypocrisy? I will not believe it! Don't get me wrong, the point of the post was not ratings-driven hypocrisy, it was the over blown coverage, and the undue attention given to Scott's hit. Please don't take it out of context; if I wasn't clear then I apologize. I heard WGR compare Milbury as a USA Don Cherry; Milbury is no Don Cherry. I think my point was directed towards the imbalance of emotional comments directed toward Buffalo as if the Sabres and their coach have made it their mission to be a team of goons. Boston Herold, Toronto Star, Toronto Globe, Ottawa Sun, etc... I would like to see a Buffalo writer bring some balance; where are they now? Also I think it is odd that the league is condeming violent hits, but the advertising agency hired by the NHL is exploiting the behavior Bettman is supposedly calling unexceptable and not a representation of the sport of ice hockey. Would you agree that this is all a bit strange?
TrueBlueGED Posted October 25, 2013 Report Posted October 25, 2013 I was being sarcastic. The hypocrisy was quite blatant.

inkman Posted October 25, 2013 Report Posted October 25, 2013 Probably the worst piece of "journalism" I've ever read. http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nhl-puck-daddy/buffalo-sabres-complete-embarrassment-john-scott-owner-trending-135054676--nhl.html
darksabre Posted October 25, 2013 Report Posted October 25, 2013 Defending John Scott must be what it's like to be a gun rights advocate after a school shooting.

Hoss Posted October 26, 2013 Report Posted October 26, 2013 Defending John Scott must be what it's like to be a gun rights advocate after a school shooting. Basically. Both are wrong.
deluca67 Posted October 26, 2013 Report Posted October 26, 2013 Neil's hit on Drury was later and more of a direct headshot than Scott's hit, yet you were clamoring for us to get him. I think you even said it was something like the most important move we could make in that off-season, or something like that. I view your opinion on this matter the same way I view Milbury's, I find them hilarious. Chris Neil is a nasty hockey player. The difference between Neil and Scott is Neil is a hockey player, Scott is nothing but a goon. Again, wanting bigger tougher hockey players is not a bad thing. Scott doesn't qualify. Zack Kassian is a thug. A thug with hockey skills.
Guest Sloth Posted October 26, 2013 Report Posted October 26, 2013 I feel like cross checking someone in the face is intent to injure... Are you kidding me?! This is a clear and blatant attempt to injure. It's far beyond what Scott did. He attempted a hit. Chara wanted to beyond hurt this guy. The NHL is quickly becoming a joke when it comes to what is right and what is wrong. If Scott got 10 games for his hit, Chara should get the same. If, and I expect not, Chara doesn't get suspended, the Sabres oughta do some type of protest. Teams across the league should be going after Chara's hit.

If you watch the play live, it's the type of play you see a lot. A guy going to the net, a guy defending the net. I hate that I can't stand Chara but have to defend him on here because the bias has made people cry for everybody else to suffer.

There's no other way around it. Its a headshot. The double standard shouldn't exist.

Andrew Amerk Posted October 26, 2013 Report Posted October 26, 2013 Could you please explain to me how fans wanting more toughness and grit in the top six forwards equates to wanting a John Scott? Yes. Sabre fans wanted someone with balls that would have stood up for Miller. Fans weren't crying for grittier forwards after the incident. They were crying for a tough guy.
bunomatic Posted October 26, 2013 Report Posted October 26, 2013 Toughness across the lineup will do thankyou.

Fans weren't crying for grittier forwards after the incident. They were crying for a tough guy. Toughness across the lineup will do thankyou. This has always been what I have perceived to be the dominate take in the conversation. There may have been a poster or two clamoring for goonism, that certainly has never been my opinion nor the opinion of the vast majority that weighed in on the subject. As i recall, fans wanted the smaller softer Sabre forwards replaced with bigger and tougher hockey players, key words are hockey players. Posters here who understand the game and understand the value of grit and toughness can bring to a franchise never thought for a moment that John Scott filled a need or brought any value to the franchise. John Scott has been a punchline since the day the Sabres first acquired him.
Darryl Shannon's +/- Posted October 26, 2013 Report Posted October 26, 2013 Perspective is a funny thing....I'm not defending the hit, but the news outlets who said this was the picture "at contact" are wrong. He definitely contacted head with shoulder, and extended his arms well after contact. Still dangerous, but not nearly as bush league. The chicken wing was tucked in for the hit. In my opinion, Scott was trying to make a big hit but his lack of overall skill and ability led to this. Here's a point to ponder. If Miller wasn't run, would John Scott have had a job in the NHL for the past 2 years?

dudacek Posted October 26, 2013 Report Posted October 26, 2013 . John Scott has been a punchline since the day the Sabres first acquired him. Except that day Shawn Thornton w as his punching bag.
HopefulFuture Posted October 26, 2013 Report Posted October 26, 2013 In fact, the writing's on the wall. The Sabres NEED grit and toughness on the 4th line. They just waived a player (Porter's down) to make sure they have it while Scott and Kaleta are out (McCormick's up). While I completely agree with the waiving and your reasoning of it, I hope we never see Porter in a Sabres uniform again. The guy hasn't impressed me at all. I'd rather see ;Luke Adam up here then Porter again. Perspective is a funny thing....I'm not defending the hit, but the news outlets who said this was the picture "at contact" are wrong. If Miller wasn't run, would John Scott have had a job in the NHL for the past 2 years? It's not "If Miller wasn't run" It's "If the NHL had dropped the punishment hammer on Lucic for the hit". Scott doesn't get signed if Shanaban does the right thing and punishes both Lucic and the Bruins. Not for nothing, but the Bruins have had an easy ride with their tactics over the past 4 seasons, a few of their players have escaped punishment time and again as what I and others in any event, would consider repeat offenders. I wish Eriksson well and never want to see a player get hurt, but I read something and individual posted the other day on another board, He said, "Welcome to the house of pain Boston". I believe that as well, Karma is a bitch sometimes.
