LGR4GM Posted November 1, 2013 Report Posted November 1, 2013 No it doesn't. Think of the Pacioretty hit. Good point.
That Aud Smell Posted November 1, 2013 Report Posted November 1, 2013 Of all the ad hoc directors of player safety, Shanahan is the ad hockiest.
qwksndmonster Posted November 1, 2013 Report Posted November 1, 2013 3-4 games for the hit. 3-4 games for being John Scott.
LGR4GM Posted November 1, 2013 Report Posted November 1, 2013 3-4 games for the hit. 3-4 games for being John Scott. 2games for the hit, 2 games for John Scott, 3 games for being a Sabre. Patrick Kaleta: 4games for the hit 3games cuz its Kaleta, and 3 games because he is a Sabre
26CornerBlitz Posted November 1, 2013 Author Report Posted November 1, 2013 @BillHoppeNHL #Sabres John Scott isn't appealing his seven-game suspension.
FolignosJock Posted November 1, 2013 Report Posted November 1, 2013 @BillHoppeNHL #Sabres John Scott isn't appealing his seven-game suspension. Why not? That makes zero sense
That Aud Smell Posted November 1, 2013 Report Posted November 1, 2013 Why not? That makes zero sense My guess: Because he's been all but told that the league is gunning to eliminate his type from the game and that if he wants any hope of sticking around for a while he should accept this punishment, move forward, and govern himself accordingly.
MILFHUNTER#518 Posted November 1, 2013 Report Posted November 1, 2013 Brendan Shanahan is in way over his head at the Department of Player Safety. How does John Scott get a 7 game suspension when he's never been suspended before, nor fined in his NHL career? Scott is a first time offender, yet the NHL is treating him like he has a miles-long rap sheet. I watched the BS explanation from the Politbureau, if what they are saying is gospel going forward, bye bye full contact hockey!

TrueBlueGED Posted November 1, 2013 Report Posted November 1, 2013 I still don't really blame Shanahan. After all, he's just doing the bidding of the old guys who run the teams and league. Remember the suspensions he handed out right when he took over? Yea, those stopped after the GM meetings that year.

I watched the BS explanation from the Politbureau, if what they are saying is gospel going forward, bye bye full contact hockey! Based off the way he looks, and the skill level he possesses. Which shows the system itself is broken and unfair. And that it also really is only half serious about fixing the problems present in the game. I'm slightly shocked that the NHLPA is not halfheartedly challenging this if only for the precedent.
inkman Posted November 1, 2013 Report Posted November 1, 2013 I think it's safe to say the NHL has no idea what they are doing. (Insert this comment anytime In the last 20 years)
26CornerBlitz Posted November 2, 2013 Author Report Posted November 2, 2013 @BNHarrington Love John Scott's points. He got 7 games cuz his first-time hit was a live-on-NBC spectacle. First-time plummets from behind all got less.

They should be more concerned with the health of Ericksson than a goon like Scott. If anything, the NHLPA should be calling for harsher penalties for the likes of Scott with the goal of eliminating them from their ranks.
MattPie Posted November 4, 2013 Report Posted November 4, 2013 Anyone know where John Scott lives? I could have sworn I saw him running in East Aurora over the weekend.
darksabre Posted November 4, 2013 Report Posted November 4, 2013 Anyone know where John Scott lives? I could have sworn I saw him running in East Aurora over the weekend. Was he taking headshots at costumed children?
MattPie Posted November 4, 2013 Report Posted November 4, 2013 Was he taking headshots at costumed children? There was a fallen tree...
Darryl Shannon's +/- Posted November 6, 2013 Report Posted November 6, 2013 They should be more concerned with the health of Ericksson than a goon like Scott. If anything, the NHLPA should be calling for harsher penalties for the likes of Scott with the goal of eliminating them from their ranks. I think the way to eliminate goons from the game is to call the rules the way they are meant to be called. We were very close to losing all of the John Scott's of the world after 05/06. Then the league has allowed for more clutching/grabbing to come back in. Add in the inconsistency of Shanahan and there is sadly a need for the Scott's, Orr's, Parros' of the world. I still contend that the biggest danger comes from players who are actually on the ice. Getting knocked out on an open ice hit by John Scott probably has similar odds to winning the lotto. He plays 4-5 minutes a night, and isn't fast enough to catch anyone. In my opinion the bigger problem is allowing "real hockey players" to play on the edge. Chara is the easy example here....he plays 30 minutes a night and I believe he's never seen a suspension. Yet he's more of a danger to his opponents than #32 is....simply because he's on the ice so much more. This is my whole gripe with the disciplinary process. Shanahan takes the easy road, banishing players who bring nothing to the table and enabling those who really should sit out for player safety.
