inkman Posted October 24, 2013 Report Posted October 24, 2013 Agreed on all counts (except Stafford). I don't think the team would be much better at all (although I think it may be more watchable and better for player development), but Rolston is killing me with his player usage. Killing me. He's still coaching like W's are going to save his job. He either's needs to let go of this and get the kids the ice time and line mates they need or he should be replaced.
rickshaw Posted October 24, 2013 Report Posted October 24, 2013 The problem with the hit tonight is not the fact Scott made it (which by the way was a millisecond too late and an inch too high from being perfect) but that he was on the ice down two goals with still 16 mins to go. Let's face it. He's not an nhl player and is being roasted because he's put in positions by his bush league coach. Crap, bring back Ruff if this is what we get. Seriously, I go back to the pegula pressor and I can't believe this is where we are now. Here are the steps needed IMO 1- fire regier tomorrow 2- hire a gm with stones who will do the righ things needed to get this team going 3- new gm hires new coach, meaning RR is gone. 4- stop playing 25 with 4th line scrubs. Good god. Pegula needs to show he REALLY does love this team (perreault) and get this ship righted, and fast.

RR is playing Grigs like he doesn't want him to succeed.
TheMatrix31 Posted October 24, 2013 Report Posted October 24, 2013 Right now, I am not proud to be a Sabres fan. We've got these thugs Kaleta and Scott, we've got these idiots Rolston and Regier, and we've got no direction. We play boring, ineffective, impotent, worthless hockey and we're a ###### dumpster fire. Get rid of the garbage. This ###### is toxic and this franchise is a joke. It takes time to build a contender but we have to do it the right way with the right people and many of the people we have here encourage a thuggish, ###### losing culture. Bad seasons need to at least be somewhat entertaining as you watch the kids develop. Right now, none of that is happening. Rolston needs to GTFO.
neverenough Posted October 24, 2013 Report Posted October 24, 2013 It just seems strange Terry Pegula is doing nothing, that's what makes me sick.
sicknfla Posted October 24, 2013 Report Posted October 24, 2013 It just seems strange Terry Pegula is doing nothing, that's what makes me sick. Not only that but DR has told him it will be a long rebuild. Why in God's name would he want to subject himself to all this. Every day that goes by the backlash from both local and national media has to take a toll. How do you not lay in bed and say " I have to save my own ass here". Grow a pair you whimp and do something!! It's only going to get worse. This town is too proud to accept "suffering". This is not lasting much longer. The fanbase, local media, and now national media is making changes inevitable.

If Darcy is still in Buffalo after today I hope the whole city turns on Terry Pegula and there isnt one ###### person in the stands come game day!
Marvelo Posted October 24, 2013 Report Posted October 24, 2013 Pegula is the worst Buffalo owner ever. Not only is he stubborn but he surrounds himself with bad people and he's seriously stupid.
LTS Posted October 24, 2013 Report Posted October 24, 2013 The only thing I will say about Milbury - http://sports.yahoo.com/nhl/blog/puck_daddy/post/nbc-analyst-mike-milbury-charged-with-assaulting-child?urn=nhl,wp20037 I saw both Buffalo goals last night but that was the only time I had the TV on. I've missed the last two games for the most part. So I can't comment on their play but clearly they aren't improving. As for calling out the veterans? Anyone think that perhaps they don't like Rolston? That's my bet. Miller won't quit, he's playing for a position on Team USA. Watched the Scott hit.. yes, he's tall. He knows that. The hit is still illegal and he should be suspended.
Claude_Verret Posted October 24, 2013 Report Posted October 24, 2013 Let's seriously look at this team: Vanek: A legitimate first-line left winger who looks like he's starting to pack his bags. Miller: an excellent goalie, surviving by quietly playing only for himself Ehrhoff: a complementary top-pairing D being asked to provide stability in a disastrous situation Hodgson: A young second-line centre forced to play on the first line Foligno: An emerging second- or third-line winger who is being shoehorned in as a second-line centre Ennis: A potential top-six forward who has been jerked between positions and completely lost his confidence Myers: A potential top-two defenceman being asked to not play to his fullest potential Pysyk: A promising rookie being asked to play on the top pair, instead of the third pair where he belongs Ott: An effective third-line agitator being asked to be a team leader Enroth: a solid back-up being asked to work miracles Leino and Stafford: A pair of wingers paid to be top six who haven't earned fourth-line money in at least two years. Scott, McCormick, Porter, Kaleta, Weber, McBain, Tallinder and Kaleta: depth guys being asked to fill a half-dozen roster holes instead of two or three Grigorenko, Girgensons, Larsson, Flynn, Ristolainen, Zadorov: a promising group of prospects most of whom should be dominating lesser leagues instead of being thrown to the wolves in a league they aren't ready for Who among these players has been put in a position to succeed? Who assembled this group? Who is deciding how they should be used? And who is deciding this situation should be allowed to continue? Suffering indeed. Great post. This is your 2013-2014 Buffalo Sabres.
apuszczalowski Posted October 24, 2013 Report Posted October 24, 2013 It just seems strange Terry Pegula is doing nothing, that's what makes me sick. remember when things were going good, he was always around to talk and comment, his kids were always tweeting about the team, etc. I think he is hiding in a bunker somewhere underground waiting for things to turn around
kishoph Posted October 24, 2013 Report Posted October 24, 2013 If Darcy is still in Buffalo after today I hope the whole city turns on Terry Pegula and there isnt one ###### person in the stands come game day! The problem is that people in WNY love hockey and just want and hope to see a good game and 16,000 of them plucked down good money for season tickets even after Darcy basically told them the team was going to be bad, The Sabres could play the whole season like this and there'll still be 10,000+ season tickets sold for next year.
LGR4GM Posted October 24, 2013 Report Posted October 24, 2013 This team continually forces players to play roles or places they aren't as good at because they can't be bothered to get what they need. Anyone 21 or under who doesn't need to clear waivers should be returned to their other team. Rebuild properly not like asshats
millbank Posted October 24, 2013 Report Posted October 24, 2013 Millbank, you are beating a dead horse. You are a Toronto fan making judgments on Sabre player's actions. How credible do you think you are? You are now repeating yourself enough to be a crusader. He's Canadian and doesn't understand hockey. I trust if i a crusader, or have posted in a mean spirited fashion, I will be banned.

Don't we pass judgment on other teams' players on a near-daily basis in the "around the NHL" thread?
TrueBlueGED Posted October 24, 2013 Report Posted October 24, 2013 Don't we pass judgment on other teams' players on a near-daily basis in the "around the NHL" thread? We do. But do we show up twice in the past year to another team's board for the express purpose of bitching about that team's actions? Seriously, when was the last time MIllbank was around legitimately discussing the Sabres?
Ghost of Dwight Drane Posted October 24, 2013 Report Posted October 24, 2013 We do. Seriously, when was the last time MIllbank was around legitimately discussing the Sabres? He was here doing it for years before you showed up. Some people just have common sense to abandon the outhouse before the M-80 goes off. Nothing against you. I'd defend you too.....

Some people just have common sense to abandon the outhouse before the M-80 goes off. Nothing against you. I'd defend you too..... I'll be honest, I don't care what he was doing here 4 years ago or whatever. Literally the only two posts I can remember of his in the past year are bitching about John Scott. Particularly for those of us who weren't around back in the day, can you at least understand why this would rub the wrong way?
millbank Posted October 24, 2013 Report Posted October 24, 2013 i accept I will receive scorn when I post... fair enough.
Eleven Posted October 24, 2013 Report Posted October 24, 2013 He's a member of the board and he's a good guy; it really shouldn't matter what his favorite team is. It's not like he's a troll (and if you think he is, check out TBD sometime).

Literally the only two posts I can remember of his in the past year are bitching about John Scott. Particularly for those of us who weren't around back in the day, can you at least understand why this would rub the wrong way? Well, his original post was that Scott was dirty and people defended Scott saying he wasn't. Now we see last night and national media even before the game saying the guy was worthless and a goon, then being validated within hours. He just cam back to say..."See, I wasn't making stuff up". He'd post more I'm sure if he didn't have to dodge tomatoes. Just sayin....he COULD be pulling up old threads about people making fun of the Maple leafs and how much of a joke they are and how Buffalo has the greatest owner in the world and the Leafs are a joke........but he isn't.
That Aud Smell Posted October 24, 2013 Report Posted October 24, 2013 i don't go in for millbank's "i know i'll get razzed every time I show up in a thread, such is life" talk. just do us all a favor, millsie (banksy?): continue to post, take the lumps that come your way, and carry on. millbank's content continues to be valuable. the guy's got an historical perspective on the game and the league that few others around here do. i often disagree with him, but i have come to learn that i should respect his opinion.
