Honestly, I've lost respect for Terry Pegula as a hockey owner. In my 40 years of following this team I can't remember a lower point in the franchise's history. I miss Tom Golisano at this point.

The situation isn't that difficult to fix. Owners fire GMs all the time. Pegula just has to make the decision, which gets easier to make every game.

you guys not getting it, had Scott did this in first period nothing said, but a 4 - 2 game, bad on coach sending him out, bad on he doing hit. Around the league this a wtf moment that gains little cred and much disrespect around league. Scott going to get five and he lucky it only this. True enough he a large man but at some point he will get his due .

I'll say it again. I miss the days when that hit was legal. Hockey was more fun back then.

Agreed. At this point Pegula has to know a move is about positive PR as much as anything. Firing Darcy and promoting Devine (or hiring someone else) would at least give the fans some semblance of hope and some sense that ownership has a clue and cares. This season is lost either way, but at least we'd have a reason to believe in the future.

Let's seriously look at this team:

  • Vanek: A legitimate first-line left winger who looks like he's starting to pack his bags.
  • Miller: an excellent goalie, surviving by quietly playing only for himself
  • Ehrhoff: a complementary top-pairing D being asked to provide stability in a disastrous situation
  • Hodgson: A young second-line centre forced to play on the first line
  • Foligno: An emerging second- or third-line winger who is being shoehorned in as a second-line centre
  • Ennis: A potential top-six forward who has been jerked between positions and completely lost his confidence
  • Myers: A potential top-two defenceman being asked to not play to his fullest potential
  • Pysyk: A promising rookie being asked to play on the top pair, instead of the third pair where he belongs
  • Ott: An effective third-line agitator being asked to be a team leader
  • Enroth: a solid back-up being asked to work miracles
  • Leino and Stafford: A pair of wingers paid to be top six who haven't earned fourth-line money in at least two years.
  • Scott, McCormick, Porter, Kaleta, Weber, McBain, Tallinder and Kaleta: depth guys being asked to fill a half-dozen roster holes instead of two or three
  • Grigorenko, Girgensons, Larsson, Flynn, Ristolainen, Zadorov: a promising group of prospects most of whom should be dominating lesser leagues instead of being thrown to the wolves in a league they aren't ready for

Who among these players has been put in a position to succeed?

Who assembled this group?

Who is deciding how they should be used?

And who is deciding this situation should be allowed to continue?

Suffering indeed.

honest not wanting to rag on you folks, but he being sent on ice at that time of game, by other coach and others watching or observing , simply put just disrespectful. It a tough game, but there is a code , a line , a manner of competition amongst peers, this was not amongst them. Around the league it viewed a wtf moment.

Code my ass. It has been open season on Sabres players for as long as I can remember and nobody gave a crap. One Bruin gets hurt and now even Leafs fans are crying for him. F### the Bruins and F### the Leafs.

I agree with you. I think the whole organization should be ashamed of themselves. Terry Pegula should be up all night trying to correct his huge problem.

I will not apologize for the Sabres playing dirty. I'm disappointed it took them this long. Welcome to the NHL.

The media ###### allllll over them when they didn't respond to Miller-Lucic. It's also revered in the media when a team is down to send out their energy guys to throw hits and fight and fire up their team.

Then Scott goes out there, tries to fire up his team with a few hits that shift, angles poorly on an open-ice hit causing a player that's six inches shorter than him to bounce his head off Scott's shoulder, and it's meathead this, low life that, embarrassment here, shouldn't be in the league there, coach's fault this, owner's shame that.

I hear he is planning on installing a website that Rolston can use during the game to poll the league to approve his line changes. If the league believes that his proposed line change is against the code, Rolston will propose a different one for approval. I think that Canadian firm that programed the Obamacare website is working on this.

some of those points are iffy but how are the bolded points true at all? They are asking myers and not to play to his potential and they are asking enroth to work miracles by occasionally playing a game?

It's hilarious. You'd think John Scott deployed chemical weapons against Erickson.

They are asking Myers to stay at home and not take risks. You've seen Myers at his best. It's when he tries to make plays, not when he tries to copy Bill Hajt.

Any back-up goalie is asked to work miracles when the puck is in his end the entire game and the forwards chip in — at the most — two goals.

Millbank, you are beating a dead horse. You are a Toronto fan making judgments on Sabre player's actions. How credible do you think you are? You are now repeating yourself enough to be a crusader.

He's Canadian and doesn't understand hockey.

The kids played great tonight I thought. Grigs played a good two-way game and showed some creativity. Girgs played an even better two-way game. Pysyk was pretty smooth. Zadorov didn't play as physical of a game as I was expecting, but he was twice as good positionally and with the puck as I expected.

Agreed on all counts (except Stafford). I don't think the team would be much better at all (although I think it may be more watchable and better for player development), but Rolston is killing me with his player usage. Killing me.
