Kr632
Ok. Say florida picks ekblad. Sabres pick rienhart. Edmonton wants to trade and the headline of the deal is myers for 3rd overall do you take it? Also islanders give up this years pick. Kr632
Why does seemingly everybody want to run Myers out of town? never said I want to run him out of town. I asked if edmonton offers no 3 for him do you take it. edmonton needs defense, sabres need young offensive talent and have a bunch of defenceman. The player doesnt have to be myers but hes the only one I can think of that would fetch that high of a pick. 3 of Reinhardt/Bennett/Draisitl (sp?)/Dal Colle would speed up the rebuild. All have top line potential.
Crusader1969
i would think giving up a defeceman with 3/4 years experience would slow down rhe rebuild
Hoss
i would think giving up a defeceman with 3/4 years experience would slow down rhe rebuild Yeap. Moving an NHL body for another prospect who won't play right away isn't going to speed up anything.

dudacek
Myers should not be traded for an 18-year-old. Myers will not be traded for an 18-year-old. Reinhart eliminated in game 7. No points in games 5 6 or 7 BUST!!!

In this hypothetical world, the 5th + Ehrhoff for the third makes more sense, but not by much.

North Buffalo
Not happening. In this hypothetical world, the fifith+ Ehrhoff for the third makes more sense, but not by much. fixed. Wouldn't trade the 5th, Erhoff imo is probably worth the 3rd. Especially considering the uncertainty of these guys. Wouldn't give up the 5th pick. Edited April 17, 2014 by Icehole
Derrico
Reinhart eliminated in game 7. No points in games 5 6 or 7 BUST!!! Damn, beat me to it!! I'm glade he's out. No chance he gets a serious injury now and he can't completely go off in the Memorial Cup tourney and swing Florida to draft him.

Koomkie
If Garth is supposedly thinking of keeping this years pick to use as trade bait, would you trade the hoff for the 5th straight up? It will make them a better team next year and lower our chances at an extra lottery pick but I still think I would do it.

I doubt that would happen considering he already turned down signing with the islanders before we signed him, and would reject a trade there even though I'm sure he wants off this team too. (I may be mistaken but I think he has some sort of no trade clause). But if we didn't have that barrier I'd absolutely make the trade. Cap recapture is another issue

I doubt it speeds up the rebuild, but it would transfer assets from an area of depth into an area of dearth, which has its merits of course. IF they are trading Myers, it had better be for a guy about the same age that is showing signs of belonging on the top line at minimum; NOT for a guy that has a ~50% chance of being a LT top 6 guy 3+ years from now. Kr632
How does giving up Myers, who is once again demonstrating top pairing potential, for a guy about 6 years younger speed up the rebuilding process? myers is very inconsistent. Questionable on Defense. However shows flashes that he could be good. He may be 6 years older but the fact that we are still talking potential is not good. What if he goes back to the myers of the last few seasons instead of the one we have seen for the last few months? Ok you want to keep myers I get that I also said it doesnt have to be myers. What about erhoff. A combination of picks or prospects and another player.
