dEnnis the Menace Posted October 20, 2013 Report Posted October 20, 2013 I'm gonna flip between the Sabres and the FSU/Clemson game the rest of the evening. At least that's competitive.
TrueBlueGED Posted October 20, 2013 Report Posted October 20, 2013 Advertising and concessions, too. Revenue losses are revenue losses no matter how you slice it. Serious question: are advertising deals negotiated during the season at all, or is it on a year-by-year basis? I know that even if it's yearly they'd have to be concerned about next year, but this year would be fine in that case. Just curious.
krt88 Posted October 20, 2013 Report Posted October 20, 2013 Tonight is the last night of the NHL Center Ice free preview, and I'm glad inwont even have annoption to watch this horrible excuse of a hockey team. There is talent but they are so lost. Everyone needs to be fired, Darcy, Rolston and I'd fire the assistants too. It's broken, completely.

I know that even if it's yearly they'd have to be concerned about next year, but this year would be fine in that case. Just curious. About 60% of NHL revenues come from ticket sales. The remaining 40% come mainly from 3 sources: broadcast revenue, corporate sponsorship and building operations. Broadcast revenues are negotiated beforehand, so they are not affected by this joke of a hockey team. Corporate sponsorship includes advertising in both the arena and the community and in-arena product supply deals. Building ops includes concessions, merchandising, parking, and building rental. These latter two categories will be affected by the team being unwatchable.

Nitro60 Posted October 20, 2013 Report Posted October 20, 2013 Pegula threw money into a new dressing room and wanted to create a hockey heaven. One major obstacle. was the team of Darcy Regier and Lindy Ruff in luring Free Agents. He should have brought in a new GM and coach when he bought the team. Ruff is gone and the franchise dive continues. This is unwatchable hockey. They have a hard time to play 20 minutes of solid hockey. Robitaille and RJ are the only reasons I watch the games past the first period.

I agree with the firings, but this is not a talented team except for Miller and Vanek. Miller is the only consistent star. Vanek should be a bigger star, but comes and goes in streaks. The rest of the skaters are 3rd and 4th line talent (or less). The younger ones could (and for the 18-20 year olds should) develop into legitimate NHL players if given more junior and AHL time. Grigs showed that last year. Keeping these guys in the NHL only stunts their skill development and destroys their confidence.
hockeyhound Posted October 20, 2013 Report Posted October 20, 2013 I'd like to see Zadorov play a few games; kid is doing a good job.

It's very common in the entertainment/media industry for a client to conduct an audit during the term of the deal to assess whether or not they are getting the appropriate return. Depending on the terms of the deal, a client may demand some type of recompense if they determine the return falls below whatever minimum level anticipated when the deal was negotiated.
dEnnis the Menace Posted October 20, 2013 Report Posted October 20, 2013 Switched back from college football to see that shift. That was beautiful. Everytime I think I'm out, they go and pull me right back in
hockeyhound Posted October 20, 2013 Report Posted October 20, 2013 Yes, they're still in it; Let's Go Buffalo!
darksabre Posted October 20, 2013 Report Posted October 20, 2013 Myers gets a + because everyone else had to work to make sure his shot that barreled directly into a Colorado defender didn't end up going the other way. Good goal. Myers sucks. Vanek needs to make that extra move. I can't let this effort pass for acceptable.
... Posted October 20, 2013 Report Posted October 20, 2013 For example, in-game sponsorships and advertising is affected by attendance, which is independent from ticket sales.
CallawaySabres Posted October 20, 2013 Report Posted October 20, 2013 before anyone asks why they always play better in the third, it's because the other team always lets up
lalalalalaFontaine Posted October 20, 2013 Report Posted October 20, 2013 Ennis, Scott, Grigorenko??
waldo Posted October 20, 2013 Report Posted October 20, 2013 if that hit in front of the bench on girgs is a hit by Kaleta he gets ten more games...no call.. ..lol

There is talent but they are so lost. Everyone needs to be fired, Darcy, Rolston and I'd fire the assistants too. It's broken, completely. Its the first time I've dropped CenterIce in 12 years! I just cannot justify paying for it considering how unwatchable and pathetic this team is. Half this team should be in the AHL or juniors for crying out loud!! Never in my hockey watching life have I seen my Sabres eliminated before Halloween. Jesus H Christ!! Wake up Terry!!!!!!!!!!!
... Posted October 20, 2013 Report Posted October 20, 2013 Another example, TV advertising, and advertising like those garish digital ads behind the net, is sold based on ratings. If ratings drop to half for a majority of the season, say from an 8 to a 4, and advertisers bought time at prices based on ~8 share, they are definitely not getting their money's worth and could demand recompense.

You are absolutely correct, however the team DOES NOT make a majority off of ticket sales. A small majority, yes but definitely nit over 60%. Ad rev is the bread and butter of this operation and believe me, by next spring Terry will be crying blood
