You get a GM that knows what he is doing will try to put other pieces in place prior to that 2-3 years. You think a smart GM is going to sit back and watch this lifeless team every night.

I think part of the reason they're lifeless is that they know their best players have one foot out the door.

Yup. Besides, if the plan actually is to tank, then why would Regier get fired for successfully implementing the plan?

Because he doesnt really know what "tanking" looks like, and will be shocked when seeing it up close and personal

It's called pride, determination and working hard. They lack all 3 this season. Like I said RR will be the first to go.

Balance sheet will still look good.

16,000 season ticket holders.

you are forgetting the other 75% of revenue stream. You think it may be possible merch sales go down 60% with such a putrid on ice product, and all the ensuing roster uncertainty?

The NHL is a gate-driven league. I'm pretty sure ticket sales make up the bulk of the revenues.

Unfortunately, I don't think they are lifeless. To me it really looks like they are trying.

…and that makes me even more depressed.

not really, it is important however ad sales is the main revenue driver. I can definitely see ad prices take a nosedive this season, along with every other facet of the revenue portfolio...

Zadorov looking very sound.

Needs to go back to junior before they ruin 2 russians

Send Zadorov and Grigs back to junior. Send Larsson and Girgs back to Rochester and bring up Gillies, Zigomanis and someone who has some experience. No need to put the next core thru this ######

He may be successfully implementing the plan, but that doesn't mean the plan is the right one. I'm sure Regier sold them on the idea you have to "build through the draft". Pegula could become curious and actually do some independent research to learn that the draft is not the only way to rebuild a team.

There have been teams who have had high picks for years and they are no where. There are teams who have tried to buy a competitive roster and they are no where.

The bottom line is that it takes the right people to make an organization competitive and they will use whatever means at their disposal: draft, UFAs, trades. We're only seeing one method by going the tank route and it simply feels and looks wrong. I think Pegula is capable of grasping that.

He's gotten worse. At least the last two years he's created offense not anymore.

Ennis has the lowest percentage of offensive zone starts on the team among the regular forwards. It's almost like Rolston is using him in a defensive role, which...yea....

Seriously, find me a forward in the league with 36.8% offensive zone starts who is producing much offense.

Advertising and concessions, too. Revenue losses are revenue losses no matter how you slice it.
