How is it that Hodgson plays about 8 more minutes including 4 minutes of PP time and ends up with the same amount of shots as Kassian?

First D pairing, third D pairing.

If the early predictions were that the Panthers and Sabres would be fighting it out for worst in the division, that's a real stab at the Panthers. There is no comparison between the two teams at all.

Not gonna happen....Full on Tank mode.

 

Only two players that are moving is Vanek and Miller and outside possibly Ott. Edmonton drafted all the offensive, Buffalo all the defense and both teams are brutal but at least Edmonton has some entertaining games.

Darcy came right out and said it today. I'll paraphrase, management fully understands the situation and fully supports their current plan.

Shouldn't a "#1" center be able to manage more than two shots? Especially with 4 minutes of power play time?

 

He's not really a #1 center, of course,... just the best of the pile of garbage on this roster.

 

It's kind of like being the tallest midget.

Oh, for F***'s sake, they have to unload Stafford this year.

 

See if Edmonton is interested in Myers too.

Game thoughts:

  • Possibly the worst game of the season and that's saying something.
  • Vanek looked like he was skating in lead. Hodgson was lousy, Stafford and Foligno were worse, Ott annoyed no one, John freaking Scott was trying to lead the rush... I could go through the entire roster but it's too painful.
  • No, I have to go one more: Ennis was ###### awful, and has been awful virtually all year. He's forgotten how to shoot, pass and get open. He can't check and can't play defence. I used to love this guy, but my God.
  • Everyone has forgotten how to pass. The only times we actually make an accurate pass is when it's to a player that's covered. Our shoot-ins are to no one. I can't remember ever seeing an NHL team pass this poorly, or turn over the puck that easily.
  • Did Miller go straight up to Darcy's office after the buzzer and waive all rights to refuse any trade? He should have.
  • Why do we have a first unit power play that has no one who can retrieve a puck and a second unit with no one who can make a play?
  • If Grigorenko can't move up from the fourth line with his teammates playing like that, his coach doesn't believe he should be in the NHL.
  • No hitting, no forechecking, no puck pressure, what happened to being hard to play against?
  • Our defensive system seems to be some sort of passive stand-beside-your-man and get your stick in a lane thing. The Canucks could do whatever they wanted, go wherever they wanted.
  • It's one thing when Kesler and the Sedins are taking you to school, but Santorelli? Richardson? Jordan Schroeder and Zack ###### Kassian? These were not the 2010 Canucks we were playing.
  • The most frustrating thing is I never expected these Sabres to be good, but I've watched many of these players enough to know they aren't this bad either.
  • At some point fingers have to be pointed at Rolston.

Why am I not surprised by that. BTW, After tonight's debacle....I'm now getting a chance to check out some high quality hockey with DET vs COL

I'm pretty tanked and still not drunk enough to make it thru the end of the game... I was talking with canuk fans that were cheering for buffalo to score to make the game more exciting.... that's just sad..... We are terrible

Hodgson & Vanek are the only good forwards on this team; problem is that Hodgson is a mediocre #1 Center. (He'd be a great #2 Center though)

Pysyk and Erhroff should play the whole game, with Risto filling in occasionally to get experience.

Miller & Enroth deserve steak dinners after every game.....

I just don't know what that plan is? How can anyone's plan involve being the worst team in hockey? For what?? Sam freaking Reinhart? Put your fans through this to maybe get some high draft picks? This is beyond embarrassing. I am not a season ticket holder but if I was I could not imagine how pissed I would be. Taking your money for this is robbery!!

In games like this, the fans should do a flash mob and exit en mass with 15 minutes left in the third if down by 2 (especially 2-0).

i like that idea. Somehow Darcy and Terry wouldn't notice though.

I concur with everything thats been said tonight. This is awful to watch. Management seems absolutely gleeful about how things are progressing. Ain't nobody got time for that.

The problem isn't in the plan, it's in the execution. Nobody is mentioning it, but the loss of Armia and Tropp has really hamstrung this team. Those guys instantly make this team more interesting and harder to play against. The biggest problem is relying on Ennis, Stafford, Porter and Flynn to provide anything other than a body. They just aren't good hockey players. At least two of them need to not be on this team. Replace them with heart and sole guys until the kids are ready. You won't win a lot more but you could get back to the hardest working team in hockey vibe and this community would support it for the most part.
