Starting with the well discussed summer of Drury/Briere, Darcy quietly rid this team of every legitimate NHL center while no one seemed to notice. Was forced to trade Kassian for CoHo since it was obvious we had no centers. Was forced to pay a king's ransom to a very average CoHo since... we had no other centers. Was forced to play an 18 year old kid who was woefully unready since... we had no other centers. Was forced to pick up and play a journeyman (Porter) since... we had no other centers. Was forced to play a left-winger (Ennis) out of position at the pivot since... we had no other centers.

People think losing to get the #1 pick is good. Well not like this. They are an embarrassment to the city, the fans and the league. The team will lose fans, revenue and sponsors at an alarming rate. You will have 6000 people in that arena in March.

Rolston is a dead man walking.

 

I have seen tons of teams that have gotten the 1st overall pick but at least they have a competitive team that year they received the pick but this team isn't even entertaining and with the possibility of losing 2-3 of your best players makes that much more worse.

Tepid call by Rick. He must have gotten the memo. Harrington is ripping the Sabres for no acknowledgement of Pominville.

 

What does he expect? A statue in front of the FnC?

First Post...been a passive viewer of this forum for a long time. I've been a Buffalo hockey fan since the days of the Ice Bisons. Fantastic wit and sarcasm on here! We need it, especially this season. For better or worse, I find myself in complete accord with "Ghost of Dwight Drane", "Kristian", and yes, "Deluca". Sometimes "Eleven"(he sounds like he might be from the Old First Ward).

Yes see Mario Lemieaux, Sidney Crosby, Jonathan Toews. I want one of them on my team. Lose a few million the next couple years, make a billion the next decade.

Pegula has to realize, soon I hope, that Darcy and company's rebuilding plan is a mess. I understand teams have to rebuild but like in building a house you have to have a solid foundation. I don't see a good foundation. Vanek, Ott and Miller are a start but Stafford, Ennis and Leino are weak links. This is hockey hell not hockey heaven for fans.

I'm thinking about 2015. Might as well give him a running mate from the next draft.

Problem is Vanek, Miller and Ott possibly all gone by deadline or seasons end. Stafford and Leino shouldn't even be on this team and Ennis needs to be moved back to his regular position. Let the losing continue then maybe Pegs and Black will wake up and finally figure out that they truly need a quality hockey guy to get the ship in the right direction.

I want Reinhart in 2014 and McDavid in 2015 but u still won't see a really good team until possibly 2018 if they get both.

And, while I'm ranting, every ###### winger Darcy signs to the roster is a natural left-sided player. Does he not realize that some guys are better suited to the left- or right-side and it is necessary to strike a balance between the two? Ott, Vanek, Foligno, Zemgus, Ennis, Leino, Scott, Matt Ellis, Colton Gillies, ... all natural left-sided players. Who do you have then to play the right side? ###### Stafford. Great. Throw a king's ransom at him then. ######. Darcy's incompetence is nothing short of stunning.

Nah I think sooner than that, say we get those two......so the start of the 2015 season they come in & the wingers will most likely be Armia, Foligno, Girgensons, Larsson, maybe Ennis, Flynn, Tropp, Catenacci, Bailey just to name some with Hodgson & Grigs still centering the other 2 lines and that's even before you add any other pieces from trades/the draft/free agency, that's a lot to work with when this time comes.
