darksabre Posted October 11, 2013 Report Posted October 11, 2013 Hey in two or three years, you'll be on first and the Sabres might be watchable #blueprint
dudacek Posted October 11, 2013 Report Posted October 11, 2013 There is a big difference between a 73-point team that is wildly inconsistent but mostly entertaining, or a 73-point team that is boring but disciplined and in every game, and this Sabres team, which has one point in five games, been drastically outshot and outplayed virtually every period this season and scored just five goals all year. Don't kid yourself. If things still look like this at the 20-game mark, Darcy and Ronnie could easily be looking for work.
Robviously Posted October 11, 2013 Report Posted October 11, 2013 I picked the best year ever to work second shift. Hey in two or three years, you'll be on first and the Sabres might be watchable #blueprint This exchange is the highlight of the night.
sicknfla Posted October 11, 2013 Report Posted October 11, 2013 We all knew this was coming. The general concensus is that Darcy kicked ass the last two drafts. The best way to build a successful team is through the draft. Can you point out to me how this is any different than we expected to see a few months ago? Maybe you're watching a different Hodgson than I am. I expected it to be bad but I did not envision this. As bad as we were last year that team seemed much better. What did DR do so great in the last 2 drafts? Last year he picked a player that many teams passed on for a reason. I think we are all seeing that reason now. Girgs should be a fine player. Nothing that any other mid round pick shouldn't be as well. This year's draft was so deep any player he picked in the top 20 would have been considered a good pick. Except this moron, who needs offensive players desperately, picks two defenseman. Had a chance to get the elite type player that they were all begging for pre-draft and ###### his pants when he was offered a deal. As for Hodgson - pretty passes don't make a player anything special. His game is lacking in so many other areas it's ridiculous. Let me ask you this. Were you expecting this? Were you expecting a product this embarrassing? In today's world of sports is this acceptable? When have you EVER heard another franchise, in any professional sport, tell their fanbase to prepare to suffer?

'prepare for suffering' and as others have said its more of Darcy in survival mode lowering expectations to placate his boss and take pressure off himself. But what about the fans? In DRs world they've never really mattered. Its all about long term survival at all costs. Past history proves it.
inkman Posted October 11, 2013 Report Posted October 11, 2013 Don't kid yourself. If things still look like this at the 20-game mark, Darcy and Ronnie could easily be looking for work. Dude (that's how I read your handle), I really want to believe this. The only shred of hope I have is that Terry "fracking" Pegula is way more concerned about $$$ than he's ever led on. Ticket sales and concessions will plummet with this garbage product. There is no easy fix but there has to be a better way. Knowing they'll be bad I'd at least stock my team with guys that give it their all, skate, hit and fight. There are a few guys in this mold but just go all in. Move all the middling players for picks and propects. Fill out the roster with effort guys. Fans would appreciate that team 10 fold to this group of non-descript players.

Were you expecting a product this embarrassing? In today's world of sports is this acceptable? When have you EVER heard another franchise, in any professional sport, tell their fanbase to prepare to suffer? I could have sworn that everybody was crying for D-men last year. Actually yeah, we were screaming for D-men last year. We were all pretty much in agreement that the Sabres needed size and grit in front of our goaltenders. Guess what, that's what he got. But you can't seem to give him any credit, saying that anybody could have drafted them. Even though most publications and hockey media were putting the Sabres in the top 3 in draft selections. Sabres have nine players with less than 100 games experience, four guys under 20, and five guys with less than 25 game experience. They probably have a larger group of teenagers than most teams have seen in years. I love how this group has all these guys figured out after five games, with that kind of talent how can y'all not have full time NHL jobs? That's simply incredible talent. Most NHL'ers don't find their way until early to mid 20's. Most of this team isn't even close to that yet. Aside from Myers, I really haven't seen what Darcy has done to make this team worse. He's been rebuilding for close to two years now. I don't know what the hell else you guys expected from this group at this point. Yes I did expect something along the lines of this. This is an entirely different ineup with a bunch of guys that have barely played together with a coach that just had his first training camp with a new team. My god, I know Americans have forgotten what patience is all about (desire for instant gratification brings about even more failure) but this is ridiculous. Based on percentages, I don't think I have ever seen such a large group of malcontents. I hate to see how people deal with reality when they take a damn sports team so personally. And no, Darcy didn't come out and tell people to suffer. As usual it was a comment taken completely out of context, but it sure sounds catchy. When you've got an arena full of fans booing a bunch of kids off the ice, when you've got Hamilton basically asking each player 'Why do you suck so much and has anybody noticed I'm trying to emulate Harrington?' and every other caller/forum poster trying to run this team out of town.................. I'd probably just go through the motions and collect my check too. Why should I sacrifice my health for a bunch of ingrates? For the record, that wasn't directed at anybody in particular. It was a general statement. If anything it was directed more at the BFLO media.
Kristian Posted October 11, 2013 Report Posted October 11, 2013 Man, I want to see Myers and Stafford sit in the stands.
Wyldnwoody44 Posted October 11, 2013 Report Posted October 11, 2013 Idk if its been mentioned, but brad Boyes has 2 goals already.... That's a sad affair when he has as many as Vanek and more than everyone else on the team.
Huckleberry Posted October 11, 2013 Report Posted October 11, 2013 Man, I want to see Myers and Stafford sit in the stands. Yeah I'd rather put grigorenko instead of stafford. try out ennis - grigorenko - foligno
TrueBlueGED Posted October 11, 2013 Report Posted October 11, 2013 Has anyone blamed Lindy Ruff's system yet? Or can I be the first? :P
JJFIVEOH Posted October 11, 2013 Report Posted October 11, 2013 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GPmjTG8NLuw Idk if its been mentioned, but brad Boyes has 2 goals already.... neverenough Posted October 11, 2013 Report Posted October 11, 2013 Wow!!!!!!!! As soon as I put the game on I wanted to shut it down, This team sucks big time! Another shot from the blue line and another shot from the blue line. Without Vanek this team is nothing but a skip over this game team. God help us all.
Jsixspd Posted October 11, 2013 Report Posted October 11, 2013 Idk if its been mentioned, but brad Boyes has 2 goals already.... That's a sad affair when he has as many as Vanek and more than everyone else on the team. The San Jose rookie, Tomas Hertl, has 6 after only 4 games, or 1 goal more than the ENTIRE Sabres team has after five games. He also has 7 points. Doesn't that kind of kill the notion that we must endure years of "suffering" in order for all of Regier's rookies to "develop" into incredible Stanley Cup winning superstars?
wjag Posted October 11, 2013 Report Posted October 11, 2013 So I switched it off to watch Big Bang Theory. Turned the game back on to see it was 4-1. Switched to the NFL.

sicknfla Posted October 11, 2013 Report Posted October 11, 2013 Get back to us when he has 10 goals at the end of December. I like your eternal optimism. At some point though reality will set in. The seven teams that picked before us in the past draft are 14-11-3 right now. We are dead last in points and goals for. And yet our way of "rebuilding" is the right way. None of those 7 teams has their 2 best players in position to leave. All of those 7 teams have better prospects than us. All of those 7 teams would beat us 9 out of 10 times. this team has relied on fans like you for too long. People who will stand by them no matter what. Your a dying breed. People have had enough. Look around the arena. As for Hertl. Watched the game last night. Kid has more skill than any player on our team not named Vanek. He will be doing just fine by end of December. Based on your theory of how long it takes players to develop he should be a 80 goal scorer by 23.
deluca67 Posted October 11, 2013 Report Posted October 11, 2013 Get back to us when he has 10 goals at the end of December. Will the Sabres have 10 goals by the end of December? The lack of talent on the Sabres is obvious, the lack of desire and compete is a bit if a shock. Except for a handful of the usual suspects, Kaleta, Ott, Weber & Foligno I just don't see any drive or urgency in this team. Hodgson to me is the most frustrating player to watch. He gets so many point blank opportunities each game, which he positions himself very nicely to get them. You can just tell he has a very high hockey IQ, but, he just seems to be a second or two too slow each time and keeps wasting them. Will his high IQ game ever translate into on-ice production? They had a great little video package between periods of Tuesday's game on Hodgson. It was less than flattering, Showing his laziness and unwillingness to sellout to make a play. If Hodgson is the Sabres best player it would explain the 0-5 start.

Some are criticizing him for his last goal of the 4 goal game against the Rangers... Yet I don't see a lot of teams especially the Sabres decking the guy who goes to the net. Especially the Sabres even when Columbus was running right at Miller. Rolston is taking the nastiness right out of the Defense. I don't like it. He is much worse than Ruff.

Weber is the only guy that even thinks about hitting people.
Stoner Posted October 11, 2013 Report Posted October 11, 2013 I honestly cannot remember, besides LR getting canned, why else was RR hired? Lindy was cooked the moment Ted accidentally stepped into Darcy's interview with Ron. Ron was the heir apparent, the professor in Terry's Sabres University, a fellow dork and a swell Bible-thumper I'm sure. Ron, yep, he ain't goin' nowhere.
26CornerBlitz Posted October 11, 2013 Author Report Posted October 11, 2013 @RealKyper: Confirming #NHL hearings. #Sabres Kaleta needs 2b scheduled in person.

26CornerBlitz Posted October 11, 2013 Author Report Posted October 11, 2013 For? Did I miss something last night? I thought I watched the entire game... I'm not sure what for either. @kevinoDandC The NHL says #Sabres RW Patrick Kaleta faces hearing for 1st-period hit on Columbus D Jack Johnson (contact to head). No penalty was called. http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=686359&navid=nhl:topheads
