Robviously Posted October 11, 2013 Report Posted October 11, 2013 Cheer up, guys. We still have the debut of the third jerseys to look forward to.
SwampD Posted October 11, 2013 Report Posted October 11, 2013 I think Weber and Myers have scored more goals on Miller than all Sabres combined have scored on opposing goalies,… maybe going back to last year, as well. We collapse too many guys into Miller on D. I fooking hate it. I said it last year before he was traded, I would have rather have kept Gerbe than Ennis.
Robviously Posted October 11, 2013 Report Posted October 11, 2013 Did that really just happen again? They're should send Grigorenko to the AHL.
hockeyhound Posted October 11, 2013 Report Posted October 11, 2013 Has anyone else noticed that Vanek seems much more at ease this season so far? No more hangdog looks at the bench. No more pouting after a botched scoring chance. He seems loose. I'm glad to see it. He doesn't seem weighed down by the game this year. And it has affected his play in positive ways. He seemed a real threat to score nearly every shift tonight. He was a bright light among dim bulbs out there. Interesting considering the team around him. No pressure I guess. Sunshine and puppy dog thought on a gloom and doom night. When asked about what was being said in the locker room, Foligno said, "we have to listen to the older guys"; also, that they had to get back to practice tomorrow, and keep at it. Vanek seems like he has made it his team and responsibility to get this team to compete.

He carried the team in the first 15 games last year too.
Nitro60 Posted October 11, 2013 Report Posted October 11, 2013 Don't think this squad will pose much of a threat to Chicago on Saturday. Monday's game against winless Minnesota is the best bet to get a win. I would hate to see this team go 0 for October. Can we blame Ruff, Roy or Pominvile?

We collapse too many guys into Miller on D. I fooking hate it. I wonder if some of the "Alamo-mode" defense is Sacco's influence. This is what Colorado did the last couple of years and it was a catastrophe. I posted a picture last year from a Preds-Avs game where all 6 Avs were within a couple of feet of the goal in the picture... will see if I can find that photo.

LTS Posted October 11, 2013 Report Posted October 11, 2013 There's just nothing we can do with Darcy as GM. We're doomed to eternal sucktitude until TP wizes up and fires Darcy. And, I honestly think Sacco was the worst coach in the NHL last year. Seriously. I didn't see a team as consistently out of position as Colorado. Just my perception though. Well, it's clear Rolston can't get guys in position either. So having both of them together explains a lot. BROOKS WAS HERE So was Red. I'm done with Rolston. I see a team that does not want to play and frankly I put the blame on Rolston. The entire team looks like they aren't sure what's going on at times. They keep passing to covered wingers. This is a system problem and Rolston's system looks a lot like what we saw under Ruff last year and the year before when it stopped working. Rolston needs to go. Regier needs to go as well. I'll grant that the drafts have appeared to be good and they may turn out to be good but he hired Rolston and that was a bad move. I'm not going to stop watching because I am a fan. But this team has a coaching issue (among other things) and clearly they are a team in name only at this point.
Iron Crotch Posted October 11, 2013 Report Posted October 11, 2013 I'm watching the Preds - Leafs game and they are interviewing Phil Housley at the 2nd Intermission. Shame he wasn't hired by Buffalo.
DFITZ1 Posted October 11, 2013 Report Posted October 11, 2013 well, you can't send Grigo to the AHL. Why the feck can't fans enough to be on a forum not know this? My almost humble apologies for not knowing this fact. I actually have more to do in my life than get all the player move rules in line. However, my amateur error is more forgivable than that of the Sabres' professional hockey execs and coaches for possibly inhibiting his development. No or low ice time means no development. In Rochester, he'd be getting first line (at worst second) ice time, and able to develop his skills better (heck, Vanek played in Rochester, albeit it included a strike year). BTW - there is no test to be on this forum.
Eleven Posted October 11, 2013 Report Posted October 11, 2013 They're should send Grigorenko to the AHL. oh no you di'int. My almost humble apologies for not knowing this fact. I actually have more to do in my life than get all the player move rules in line. There's nothing almost humble about this at all. Look, rook, you ###### up. Ride pisshole for the night and skate with the team again tomorrow.

Also, if you intend to chime in on how to fix the team you undermine your own credibility when you the post something like "Send him to the AHL". Why should your opinion on coaching changes, etc. hold any merit since you basically just told us that you don't pay attention. Not trying to be mean in any way, but you really should look at things like that before responding the way you chose to respond.
26CornerBlitz Posted October 11, 2013 Author Report Posted October 11, 2013  @BrianWGR Patrick Roy is 4-0-0 to start his career in Colorado. Yeah, not interviewing him was the correct decision. #Sabres

I'm not going to stop watching because I am a fan. But this team has a coaching issue (among other things) and clearly they are a team in name only at this point. I'm going to say this has to be the most unwatchable team I have seen in a long long time. At least when some of these other teams landed the first overall pick they had some guys that could put the puck in the net. This team has one guy and that's pretty much it. Ennis has disappeared as a point producer. Stafford had one good season and gets rewarded with a nice contract. Leino has been injured for almost his entire contract so far. People need to know that Darcy signed these players. I give credit to Kevin Devine and the scouts for the last two drafts. But as a GM you need to make bold moves sometimes in the draft and Darcy isn't that guy. Years ago I said Burkes leafs team would be a solid team with him running the show. Yes they canned him for some questionable moves but almost that whole Leafs team has his prints all over it. Rolston to me needs to change his system. In coaching you have to adapt to what you got to work with and since they can't score you almost need to play NJD hockey. 2-1,3-2 games. I just don't see Pegs firing Darcy anytime soon when he told everyone up front there would be suffering. This team needs to find in the next couple of drafts players with skating, speed, skill, heart and some one on one abilities. They don't have hardly any scorers up front coming soon.
inkman Posted October 11, 2013 Report Posted October 11, 2013 Coaching has nothing to do with this team's state. It's a roster made up of: Pluggers: Kaleta, McCormick, Scott, Tropp, Ott AHLers: Flynn, Porter, Floaters: Stafford, Hodgson, Grigorenko Rookies: Girgensons, Larsson, Armia, Risto, Guys who are lost: Ennis, Myers, Weber Good players: Pysyk, Vanek, Foligno Haven't figured out mcbain yet
JJFIVEOH Posted October 11, 2013 Report Posted October 11, 2013 I swear Hamilton thrives on making these guys feel 2 feet tall. Hamilton sucks, he should have gone to Dallas with Lindy. Ask some informative questions, stop trying to belittle everybody (as much as they need to be belittled). I would have gotten to a point where I would have told Hamilton to ###### off. Bunch of crybaby fans with a high school quality media core, I wouldn't want to play in Buffalo either.

Ride pisshole for the night and skate with the team again tomorrow. I'm no rook and and take your pisshole mind to another forum or another team. I've watched this team when the Aud had only 11,000 seats and no what Buffalo Sabres hockey should be and what it shouldn't be. This team couldn't skate with the expansion team, which only had Perreault as a top of the line skater. Getting a detail of a player move wrong is minor, and all the posters who think that fact should keep someone from posting are just arrogant buffoons. I do hope you're not one of those.

Even if Roy came and coached here it's going to be almost identical. Any coach coming here doesn't have much to work with. For the first time in a long time the Bills are more entertaining than the Sabres I hate to say. But the Bills have no clue either.
