Jsixspd Posted October 9, 2013 Report Posted October 9, 2013 How do the stats have Myers as only -1? Doesn't the OT goal count towards his plus minus? He was on ice for two of the three goals - I posted at least twice about it when his line was scored against.
North Buffalo Posted October 9, 2013 Report Posted October 9, 2013 Once Vanek gets moved, Hodgson will do nothing up front with no one to pass to. This team is going to be very bad to watch. It's going to take years to clean this up. At least with Ottawa u have Spezza and Alfredsson still there plus u have Eric Karlsson . Buffalo has nothing when Vanek and Miller get moved. I don't blame Miller and Vanek for wanting to play for a winner because this team is a mess. This is going to be Edmonton the last bunch of years with no offense. True, though just to point out Alfie is now with Detroit. I would hope Sabres keep Vanek and to an extent Miller. They are not the problem.

SabresBillsFan Posted October 9, 2013 Report Posted October 9, 2013 True, though just to point out Alfie is now with Detroit. I would hope Sabres keep Vanek and to an extent Miller. Got it, and that is why Staphyl and Myers are the only I want gone. Agree and Sabres need to add another. What is Armia eta?
inkman Posted October 9, 2013 Report Posted October 9, 2013 My thoughts on the game: Foligno was their best player on the ice tonight. Like a bull in a china shop clearing the way for his linemates setting up scoring chances using his big frame everytime he was on the ice. I'd put him with 19 & 26 but I'm not sure if another scoring line can be constructed from the rest of the roster. McBain looks like a decent PP specialist. If they can hide him on third pairing minutes, I think they have a role for this guy. Pysyk is already their best defenseman. So smooth, just goes unnoticed. His outlet passes are a joy to watch. Nice to see 6, 9, & 82 drop the gloves. Not everybody thinks it matters, don't count me in that faction. Grigorenko must have done something to make ol Ron Ron a bit ornery. Benched for most of the game. Girgensons has become very unnoticeable. He was all over the place early in the season but he has disappeared. Porter & Flynn...meh. I changed the channel so fast at the end I didn't see Myers gaff by I'll take everyone's word for it. I still think he played a decent game.
JJFIVEOH Posted October 9, 2013 Report Posted October 9, 2013 0 wins in 4 games, and your goaltender has been one of the top 3 stars in three of those. :( ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Actually, Myers was on the ice for all three TB goals. Of course only two of those count in the +/-.

Jsixspd Posted October 9, 2013 Report Posted October 9, 2013 two pp goals? I didn't see him out there on the PP lines - he must have snuck in for one of them. LOL
bunomatic Posted October 9, 2013 Report Posted October 9, 2013 He was the only skating on D. It was he and Enroth against 4 guys... No no I meant when he got lambasted by the Tampa player he was trying to hit. Took a pretty good jolt there.
Taro T Posted October 9, 2013 Report Posted October 9, 2013 @BrianWGR Link to the #NHL statement on the blown call on the #Sabres disallowed goal: http://www.nhl.com/i...g.htm?id=2165 … I expected them to be explaining why Vanek got the penalty for having his stick lifted; it was pretty friggin' obvious they didn't notice Ott had played the puck. The explanation was about as useful as tits on a boar.

... Posted October 9, 2013 Report Posted October 9, 2013 http://www.nbcsports.com/hockey/nhl/killorn-nails-game-winner-ot You watch the full thing, I see Myers playing the net the way he's supposed to. All Sabres D are told to watch the sides of the net and let the back checkers take the guys in front. The play develops because Brewer takes it past the trapezoid and Weber is supposed to take over, Myers backs up to help protect the net. Kilorn is fast, Brewer drops it back to him and goes behind the net. Myers has that side of the net protected, Enroth has the front until Hodgson comes strolling in like a drunken vagabond and causes the mess up front which leads to the goal.
dudacek Posted October 9, 2013 Report Posted October 9, 2013 Game thoughts: Sabres finally looked they were playing an evenly-matched opponent; it sucks (even though it should go without saying) that it's another team that will be chasing a lottery pick. Myers and McBain both looked better separated from each other: McBain looked much better on the power play with Ehrhoff than Myers has looked there; Myers looked steady until the winner, letting Brewer(!) go around him, then standing and watching the goal from behind the net? WTF? Foligno looked like a legitimate top six power forward; his presence gave us two second lines It's no wonder Porter is Rolston's "favourite." RR preaches skate fast and be hard; that's what Porter does. For the second time this year, I had Ted Nolan flashbacks: tonight's team worked hard, hit, collapsed around their goalie, dropped the gloves and couldn't score. Mike Weber was the poster boy for the above. Ristolainen had another good hit in an otherwise low-key game; Pysyk continues to impress; Grigs invisible Stafford had a nice game; I'm just saying Ennis looked better on offence tonight — that line does have good chemistry when Foligno is banging — but every time he was out against Stamkos, I felt queasy. I've figured out Cody Hodgson; He looks great when given time and space; not so much when he doesn't. He has a long way to go to be a top-line centre. Everyone talks about the rookies having to grow, but it is the development of Hodgson Foligno and Myers that is the key to this year. That loss has the potential to crawl into people's heads. They need to win Thursday.
Iron Crotch Posted October 9, 2013 Report Posted October 9, 2013 I think we'll double our goal scoring total for the season tonight... but will lose 3-2. I sensed this outcome. :P
IKnowPhysics Posted October 9, 2013 Report Posted October 9, 2013 Stafford had a nice game; I'm just saying Don't apologize for this. He had the best game he's had in like a year, but is still being ###### on. I wanted him gone long ago, but he's changing his game, and I think he needs to be watched some more. There were times where Hodgson looked far, far lazier. Last GDT, I detailed what I thought were two distinct Sabres teams performing through the first three games, one that skated hard and was instructed to use an aggressive forecheck system, and one that looked lethargic and ineffective in a trap-like neutral zone arrangement. Tonight, we spent the vast majority running an aggressive 2-1-2 and sometimes the crazy 3-2. The effort level was good tonight, but execution still needs to be faster.
nucci Posted October 9, 2013 Report Posted October 9, 2013 Gotta think it is time to trade of cut Stafford.... Trade Myers and if Vanek or Miller need to go get as much for them as possible. I really liked Girgenson's effort. Bring up the young'uns and get this going. A few years too late
wjag Posted October 9, 2013 Report Posted October 9, 2013 Game thoughts: This collapse in your own zone when the other number 1 line has the puck is going to drive me bat $hit crazy before the season is up. I get that your talent level isn't even, but sheesh, let the kids play. How else are they going to learn? Rolston's style is so bland and vanilla I have to wonder how he got an NHL job. As long as the goalies continue to play like they have, Buffalo should be within striking distance in most games. I fear what happens when they break down too. Pysyk is rounding into form and he gets to the net and hits the net when he shoots at it. Maybe the slogan for this year should be "This hockey club is a diamond in the rough, meanwhile heart break, yeah we got that in spades". About mid-second, these guys got some flow going. Too bad they were in Alamo mode all the first period. I'm giving them credit for 2PPGs and a delayed PPG even if the refs overruled that one. Speaking of which, that one goes in the category of, "I've never seen that before" I'm okay with the touchless icing rule. winless but not pointless, so there's that. The sample size is small, but this team's ability to execute a 3 on 2 or 3 on 1 is just missing so far.
neverenough Posted October 9, 2013 Report Posted October 9, 2013 Only in Buffalo does Stafford last this long.
North Buffalo Posted October 9, 2013 Report Posted October 9, 2013 A few years too late Agreed and been saying it for a couple of years, and will keep saying it till that infection is gone... Stafford has his best subpar game of the season.... LOL Free Stafford.
kishoph Posted October 9, 2013 Report Posted October 9, 2013 Darcy needs to do something..... Ha ha, I just made myself laugh. Another nice game by Enroth, ends up with a loss. I liked Foligno's game, when he plays with grit he can be a force, when he stops being physical and tries to be a "finesse player", it's a different story. I think Stafford had one of his better games in a while. I can't fault Myers for either of the 2 goals he was on the ice for, the 1st one, if he leaves his position, Stamkos is alone at the side of the net, on the game winner, you can't rub a guy out on the boards when he's 2 feet in front of you and when the puck came out to the front, it was more on Weber than anyone else. I don't see any chemistry on this team and I think a lot of it has to do with the continuous juggling of the lines and defensive pairings. On most teams you can see chemistry within the players, where they get to know each others tendencies, with the Sabres, a player can play on the 4th line one game and the 1st line the next (slightly exaggerated). This was one of my biggest peeves about Lindy and Rolston is doing the same, if not more. Well, hopefully Darcy will make a move soon to shake this team up.... Ha ha, I did it again. :P

Can't argue with a Wolf Blitzer statement repeating the same facs over and over again. Myers let his guy go while he was still on him and the guy spun back to his side and didn't cover... bad play, nuff said. Not saying Cody couldn't have bailed Myers out if he actually played D. That part is true. So 2 screw ups on the play. Common Myers, hit someone and get him off the puck...
Jsixspd Posted October 9, 2013 Report Posted October 9, 2013 Who on the Sabres team could have made that shot that Tampa made on their first goal? A tiny gap between Enroth's shoulder and the top of the goal. Most of our guys seem to aim for dead center on the team logo on the goalie's chest.
