Ghost of Dwight Drane Posted October 6, 2013 Report Posted October 6, 2013 I see a future on the back line. We've only allowed two a game against three of the league's more dangerous offences Sekera has been a real bright spot. Paetch and Sekera are only going to get better. Gragnani, Brennan and Funk are coming.
TrueBlueGED Posted October 6, 2013 Report Posted October 6, 2013 The blue line isn't even a problem right now, and that's without considering future growth. It's the forward group that's a disaster.

Brian Norcross has issued Tropical Storm Warnings and a Hurricane Watch for the defense and projects the forwards as a category 3-4 at landfall......FEMA has resources on site and ready to distribute.....
dudacek Posted October 6, 2013 Report Posted October 6, 2013 Drane I'm mostly with you on the deja vu Darcy train. I might even give you the Sekera/Pysyk parallel here. But Risto, a 6'4, 220-pounder who made the NHL at 18 to Paestch? And Nikita to Gragnani?
hockeyhound Posted October 6, 2013 Report Posted October 6, 2013 Wasn't this team supposed to be harder to play against? They gave to much respect to the Pens throughout the game; at one point I didn't hear the boards rattle for about 10+ minutes. As soon as Buffalo gained possession of the puck the Pens manned up and closed the gap on every player on the ice. They anticipated the play and before Buffalo made a pass they had all of the outlets covered. However, when the Pens took possession, Buffalo gave them a parking lot to work in. The Pens were laughing on the bench and they had absolutely no fear while going to the net. What happen to being harder to play against? If Buffalo cannot compete skill wise, then they better be able to stick to guys like glue and make it impossible for them to do anything or this is going to be a long ugly season of hockey.

Agree with everything you said.
JJFIVEOH Posted October 6, 2013 Report Posted October 6, 2013 If they really are THIS bad, don't worry. It will be crickets by January. Nobody has the energy to bitch that much...even me. I'm very disappointed in what were some interesting wildcards. The whole "pray Myers finally has his rebound season after 4 years". That looks like a negative. The guy has banked $18 million cash in a little over a year and people get excited if he can actually get a puck out of the zone that he had control of to begin with...let alone win a physical battle and gain possession from someone. Ristolainen......he's got a body, his offensive skills look interesting, but I'm wondering when he will make us "harder to play against". I highly doubt it, this place thrives on misery, in fact it's fueled by it. 3 games into a rebuilding season that everybody wanted, and now you're all surprised at the outcome. Admit it, this place loves to bitch.

SwampD Posted October 6, 2013 Report Posted October 6, 2013 Definitely. To quote a wise man,… nonsense.

Ghost of Dwight Drane Posted October 6, 2013 Report Posted October 6, 2013 I will make some of you a deal....Going back to 2007-08, and moving forward.....for every playoff game the Sabres win, I promise I won't say a negative thing about them FOR 1 WHOLE YEAR!!!! Now dissect the reality of that statement, and then come back with a straight face saying this place likes to bitch......
deluca67 Posted October 6, 2013 Report Posted October 6, 2013 To quote a wise man,… nonsense. People jut don't get it. Just because you know the team is going to be bad doesn't mean you have to like it and not be frustrated by another year under Regier where this franchise is going nowhere. Just because we can agree a rebuild is necessary doesn't mean we can't be pissed that a rebuild is necessary.

There's nothing new to add to the discussion.

Just because we can agree a rebuild is necessary doesn't mean we can't be pissed that a rebuild is necessary. And to say we thrive on misery is just complete BS. We have been handed misery. …I might have to rethink think this. The fact that we're still here,… maybe I am fueled by misery. We get it. You're pissed. You've been pissed. There's nothing new to add to the discussion. What else is there to talk about? It's not like you've been pointing out all of Drew Stafford's good plays, and, yes, there have been some.

It's a collection of miserable people touching their depression boners together and asking everyone else to watch.

Again, just because you may disagree doesn't mean it shouldn't take place. especially when you don't add anything to the conversation. If I was one to do such a thing, I would bookmark this post. :P It's not they we complain, we're just not complaining about the right things.

But the constant rehashing of the same tired crap offers nothing of substance. If a sports organization repeating mistakes is bad, then repeating the same complaints about those mistakes is just pathetic.

Wouldn't that make the repetitive complaining about other's complaints even more pathetic. Your'e like the guy who goes on to a message board to complain how lame message boards are. If you like, I could start a Drew Stafford thread you'll likely enjoy.
Ghost of Dwight Drane Posted October 6, 2013 Report Posted October 6, 2013 Are we harder to play against THAN THE LAST 20 GAMES OF LAST YEAR? I said coming in my worry was this defense is softer than grandpa before Pfizer started using blue food coloring on their pills. Well, even Rob Ray has had enough and mentioned multiple times last night about multiple players (some making $6+ million and over 6'7"), that there is no excuse to just watch a guy crash the net or half-heartedly use one arm and a stick when the guy is facing your goalie from 4 feet with the puck. We have every right to be grumpy about that. I thought Rolston might preach a physical, forecheck and make it hard in your own end, type of game. I figured maybe we could at least be proud of the effort of the team even if they don't have the manpower to be a contender soon. That hasn't been the case. Other than the usual suspects, (Weber, Ott)...we look like a European rec league team of 40 year olds. Again...in the GM's wisdom, this team is only $3 million under the cap. If you average the first 3 teams we just lost to...they are $3 million under the cap.

Jsixspd Posted October 6, 2013 Report Posted October 6, 2013 Or maybe the coach really is basically irrelevant. It doesn't matter who the coach is if you've got a poor team. If you, me, Hockeyhound, PaSabersfan, and Inkman were made into a 'line' of the Sabres - it wouldn't matter who the hell was coaching us -we would still suck donkey-balls. Hell, I've never even tried to ice-skate. lmao!!!!!
