PromoTheRobot Posted September 27, 2013 Report Posted September 27, 2013 Just got an email from the Sabres saying there are "plenty of good seats" available for the season opener. What used to be one of the toughest tickets of the year you can still stroll up to the box office and buy them a week out from the game. And this after the Sabres increased the number of season tickets sold. So how many tickets are left per game now? 3,000? And the Sabres can't sell 'em? Wow. PTR
spndnchz Posted September 27, 2013 Report Posted September 27, 2013 Single seats. Just ask the mini pack holders.
Ghost of Dwight Drane Posted September 27, 2013 Report Posted September 27, 2013 Single seats. Just ask the mini pack holders. "Plenty" of "good" seats......so are they lying about how many season tickets sold, or are they scumbag lawyers for their description of available seats?.........
... Posted September 27, 2013 Report Posted September 27, 2013 You can go online and see a live map of the seats available to each game. Lots of single seats, mainly, except way up in the cobweb and nosebleed sections where there may be a row, or good chunks of a row. It depends on your interpretation of "good"; the sauce needs more cooking before i would consider what's available "good". Of course, I can still recall not being so discriminate; each Sabre game, at the time, was worth sitting in those seats for.
superdave Posted September 27, 2013 Report Posted September 27, 2013 It depends on your interpretation of "good"; the sauce needs more cooking before i would consider what's available "good". To the ticket sales staff, the interpretation of "good" is "unsold".

Be that as it may, having unsold seats a week out from opening day is surprising to me. PTR
Stoner Posted September 27, 2013 Report Posted September 27, 2013 Ah, yes, the Drane Conundrum. It seems like these guys are content to feed off Chet and Muffy. That's why Regier is still here, and the product is just mediocre enough to satisfy the people who don't know, or don't care. See Drive: One Bills.

See Drive: One Bills. yeah. regrettably, this is a modern phenomenon in all pro sports. not sure what the team expected after the theme of the off-season was "some suffering." in fact ... man, that is the antidote to this #Blueprint nonsense: #SomeSuffering
Sabre Dance Posted September 27, 2013 Report Posted September 27, 2013 I was gratified to see the FNC full-up for a pre-season game...but of course, that was against Toronto last Saturday and Leaf fans nearly outnumbered Sabre fans. The FNC crowd for the Blue Jackets game was much more sparse. Well, it WAS a pre-season game.....

Not even into the first game yet and you're railing against Chet and Muffy. For some reason this title always offends me. I guess because sit in Clubs at the stadium and the arena. At least I did. I let my Bills tickets go this year. In no way shape or form do I resemble Chet nor the wife Muffy. Be happy to meet at the 2nd floor bar after a game to prove it. Chets don't wears jerseys and lose their voice. Even in a deathly quiet arena. But I do. So here's the funny thing, even amidst what you and your ilk believe to be the darkest days of the organization, people are buying tickets. 97% season ticket renewal rate? Surely Chet and Muffy can't be filling all those seats are they? And to one of your ilk who is about to post oh but those are subsidized prices etc etc etc Shut Up. My invoice is pretty ridiculous in a non Chet and Muffy type town.

Elk jerky is by far my favorite........so.....supposedly 16,000 season tickets sold, then mini packs went on sale to the public, and the waiting list for season tickets INCREASED to around the 2,000 level....yet there are between 1,000 and 1,700 seats available to VALUE games.....which are priced $5 more than season tickets in many of the available seats.....in an arena with a capacity of 18,700. So that means that even with 2,000 people DYING to pay for every game this season, and new mini pack sales....they were only able to sell 1,000 single seats so far to some of those games? 16,000 of 16,000 diehards.....and 1,000 of say anywhere from 1,000,000...to 10,000,000 other folk if we include Rochester and Southern Ontario? Hmnnnnn.....a conundrum it is.........................and yes, your invoice is ridiculous in a non Chet and Muffy town.

Or maybe people like to go to hockey games with their friends and sitting alone with strangers defeats the purpose? You realize these are social events right?

Ghost of Dwight Drane Posted September 28, 2013 Report Posted September 28, 2013 Or maybe people like to go to hockey games with their friends and sitting alone with strangers defeats the purpose? You realize these are social events right? ???? You and 100 of your closest friends can sit together for the games I am talking about. The cheapest games of the year which are pretty much season ticket prices have 5 whole rows together in the 300's. $31 bucks baby.....for Sabres hockey....it's a steal? How come those 2,000 on the waiting list haven't scooped up those seats? I'm confused........

Ghost of Dwight Drane Posted September 28, 2013 Report Posted September 28, 2013 Maybe they don't want to sit in the 300s? Think a little harder. You'll stop saying stupid ######. They want to be able to smell the eau de parfum under Cody's jersey? Maybe they don't want to sit in the 300s? Think a little harder. You'll stop saying stupid ######. So they don't have $30 for 5 games, but have $100 for 40 games?? Maybe they don't want to sit in the 300s? Think a little harder. You'll stop saying stupid ######. Buffalo corporations treat Sabres tickets like Hickory Farms sausage and cheese logs and pay up for them even though they have the nutritional value of cardboard?
... Posted September 28, 2013 Report Posted September 28, 2013 I know when I am in the 300's, I miss the convenience of having a waitress get me drinks and food during the game, not to mention the enhanced menu options, the easy to navigate corridors, the quick turn-around time in the bathrooms, and the near guarantee that Sabretooth will be close enough to my section and my kids stand a much better chance (than those in the 300s) of catching some swag from the swag-cannon. While in the 300s, when I'm not grossed-out trying to determine what the sticky stuff is on the floor beneath my cold, hard, terribly uncomfortable seat, I try to fight off the feelings of vertigo and that I will fall forward down into the 100's. As I squint towards the opposite net in the hopes I can make out which player has the puck, or as I catch myself watching most of the action on the so-called "Jumbotron", sometimes it occurs to me that I could have saved the $35 a ticket, high-priced soda and popcorn, and parking fees and, instead, stayed home and watch the game there.

I'm not sure why spending more of your disposable income on hockey should be cause for resentment.

The Bills split 50/50 for their games pretty much. Numbers don't add up...2,000 on the waiting list........I understand an individual case. Me myself, wouldn't get caught dead paying $100 for every Sabres game. 1, possibly depending on the circumstances. And the children comment was before I saw your post!

Please tell me you're being facetious. In my entire life, I think I've sat lower than the 300 level maybe 5 times. And apparently I never caught the memo about what a horrible nightmarish experience it is up there.
