Unlike others that claim there's no place in this league for John Scott I disagree. It seems every team in our division has loaded up for bear this off season and I kind of like having the biggest bear on our team. Scotts a team guy and I'm thinking with a young roster this season teams like Toronto will take liberties with the greenhorns and try to intimidate them. John Scott, Cody, Weber and to a lesser extent Kaleta will make them think twice. During the early years of the rebuild a deterant is absolutely needed.

guess I should not but what the hell. Glad to see miller take about five shots, sad it was not twenty five, got to think many on Sabre bench privitely thinkinng "hammer him" , as Miller has thrown more than a few of his team mates under the bus.

 

Scott , Sabres I imagine apart from this site, on this incident thought to be weenies. Why the hell would any Leaf want to fight some weenie with five points in his entire career. Looking forward to my men coming into Buffalo taking out your team then going after the women and children, Love the Bills , hate the Sabres with a passion . Tried for awhile to get along with you all, it just a no go... Clearly Kessel swinging stick merits a suspension, better had he turtled, swinging stick loser stuff, but Scott going after Kessel loser stuff as well.

 

Clarkson in terms of being a man perhaps the only one here and he gets the suspension. This going to bond the leafs, time will tell in a tough division with Detroit added into picture will these ten games cost leafs a playoff spot or will it motivate them to better things than last season. I tried guys, at one point Sabres my second team wished nothing but the best, but over time just far to many nasty comments regarding my nation, city of Toronto ect. None of this came from me..

 

Sorry Millbank for the disparging comments, non directed at you personaly, however, I am guilty as charged. As an excuse, I have been on the other end of many Canadian disparging comments personally and reading the Leaf pages before writing I just kept getting more and more peeved. I generally like Toronto and know many level headed Canadians. But when Canadian fans or others go nationalistic or disparaging of Buffalo I get a little prickly.

 

That being said, there is nothing like a little cross border nastiness when it comes to hockey. Been hoping for this for years. It has been too much of an after thought for both teams mostly because neither has been good at the same time. Adding Detroit to the mix should bring in additional friction, which can only be good for the league and the division.

 

Now, all that is needed is to move one or all of the Florida teams back up North... That I think we can all agree on.

Would you please read my posts in this thread...the entire incident is laughable. And Yahoo sports was the one that said Tropp wanted the fight.

I know he hasn't played 300 NHL games....but I've seen Tropp enough to know the guy is a bit of a chirper and not afraid to do some dirty things. I like him....but trying to act like he was out of his league in fighting is not valid. Barnaby would fight guys that had 6 inches and 50 pounds on him on a regular basis....and he usually lost. He was just nuts enough and dedicated enough to do what he needed to do to be effective in the league. Tropp has similar skillsets but was an tweener AHL/NHL guy even before the injury. He's trying to make an impact on this roster, and prove to himself that he hasn't lost anything. I respect him, and my guess is he may just have done something himself to get the original thing going. Now if the guy purposely drove his head into the ice, that is BS...Kaleta used to do that and slewfoot on the same altercation all the time....which is why it's hard for anyone to show respect to that guy. But considering this was Tropp it happened to and not say a Hodgson or Flynn.....Scott telling Kessel he is going to fight him is way over the line in my opinion. Again.....it was all stupid, except for Ryan Miller. Proud he came out there....and he wasn't shy about throwing bombs. He just didn't connect, and lost his grip on Bernier's sleeve. He did ok though.

Millbank has more hockey experience in his pinkie than 90% of us do in our whole body, including myself. And he's a good peep.....

 

it's a shame that the less noble elements around here tend to chase him away from time to time. yes, it's a sabres board, but it is a fairly enlightened one -- and the board is much better off with millbank's periodic input. the guy knows the game in a very real way.

In the offseason, when there's not much to talk about, it's easy to talk about each other. It's funny to me though that it was the beginning of preseason that had sort of whipped folks up into a frenzy, and that's what ignited the small garbage can fires.

i did. The part that got me was the "none of this came from me" So learn how to read I guess should be my reply to you.

That was obnoxious to me. Own you're opinion. If someone doesn't like it so be it. But don't say something and try to wiggle out at the same time.

EDIT: that's the most i've ever listened to scott. i'm sure it's been stated elsewhere, but that guy has an agile mind. may it survive his playing days -- he's really quite interesting to listen to insofar as the game goes.
