Koomkie Posted September 23, 2013 Report Posted September 23, 2013 "nobodys talking about my sick assist, baby sauce in the middle." is that what john scott said in his interview after the game? hahahhahha!!!! this guy is awesome.
DHawerchuk10 Posted September 23, 2013 Report Posted September 23, 2013 Wow, nice article (sarcasm). Stay classy Toronto. http://www.thestar.c...hate_kelly.html As someone living in the GTA, I appologise for the arrogance that reaks of the T.O. media. "Buffalo doesn’t like us all that much. Why? No idea. We’ve never done anything to them but spill over their borders when the dollar’s down and create the false impression that people live there." I guess the author has never been to a Leafs/Sabres game in Buffalo. They would quickly realize we hate them so much because their fans are a bunch of obnoxious, arrogant pricks as beautifully demonstrated by this ridiculous article. No disrespect intended here, but there is "always" a city bigger and better. My friend is from NYC, and the first time he went to Toronto he couldn't get over how small it was, and how "dead" it was at night. So to him, Toronto is that little boutique city up north that barely exists. I never can quite grasp why people get their rocks off belittling other towns anyway.
Robviously Posted September 23, 2013 Report Posted September 23, 2013 I never can quite grasp why people get their rocks off belittling other towns anyway. Lack of personal achievement.
rickshaw Posted September 23, 2013 Report Posted September 23, 2013 Toronto is the centre of the universe, don't y'all know that? We have to put up with it out west and it'll never go away. No matter that the Leafs haven't won a Cup since the days of SIX teams. Heck, I'd like those odds every year 1-6 to win a Cup. I think even the sabres would have had one by now had that been the case.
dudacek Posted September 23, 2013 Report Posted September 23, 2013 @ Physics. Leafs got a power play for Scott's instigator. Kessel got match and Clarkson game misconduct, neither of which carry a PP as part of their punishment.
IKnowPhysics Posted September 23, 2013 Report Posted September 23, 2013 @ Physics. Leafs got a power play for Scott's instigator. Somewhere folks were kvetching that Kessel didn't get 5 for finally dropping gloves with Flynn. I wasn't. I know how this works.
LGR4GM Posted September 23, 2013 Report Posted September 23, 2013 Anyone notice how Toronto, city and team are all losing there minds over this and the Sabres seem to have this calm air about the entire thing?
26CornerBlitz Posted September 23, 2013 Report Posted September 23, 2013 SCOTT RESPONDS TO BRAWL QUESTIONS: http://video.nhl.com/videocenter/console?id=446777
IKnowPhysics Posted September 23, 2013 Report Posted September 23, 2013 They do that. Scott's side summed up by a neutral-ish third party: http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nhl-puck-daddy/john-scott-explains-why-attacked-poor-nearly-defenseless-202830725--nhl.html Heh, EXTERMINATE!
Huckleberry Posted September 23, 2013 Report Posted September 23, 2013 To be honest, just dumb coaching from Carlyle, if he sends out a goon, scott fights him and its done, now he lines up his star player right after the tropp melon head butt to the ice. And expects nothing will happen and down plays the whole thing. Probably thinking he got a "rookie" coach next to him he can do with whatever he wants. In your face you idiot. Edit: And yeah i might be pissed of drunk at the moment, and probably no sense can come of me watching it all over again wich i just did. But ###### you Toronto, and we better come out blazing against them in our next face off, or im going to be more pissed. need to frakking making them looks silly next game.
Weave Posted September 23, 2013 Report Posted September 23, 2013 Just heard Carlyle's post game interview. When asked about the decision to send out Kessel's line he mentioned that he had noone to send out to face Scott. To a good extent that makes sense. If he sends out Bodie, a middle weight who already lost to Kaleta the night before, Bodie ends up like Tropp. Sending out a line to diffuse things makes a bit of sense. I know I wouldn't have expected Scott to go after a non-fighter.
North Buffalo Posted September 24, 2013 Report Posted September 24, 2013 Sabre gets clocked. Sabres respond. Sabres whine afterwards. Some things never change. Seems to me the Leaves are doing a lot of whining today. Darn, I missed a fun weekend of hockey shooting a wedding in Ithaca. Beautiful, started catching up with all the mess. Looked to me that Scott said something to Kessel and he started slashing Scott. Leafs got stupid. Miller did get the worst of it, but he got a few shots in... Wasn't a major deal though. Clarkson will get suspended and don't doubt Kessel does for a short period of time. Some of the write ups say this messes up the Leafs negotiations with one of their free agents. Oh darn... It is funny to see Toronto wake up and realize there is another place that plays hockey just south of the border. P.S. Awk, those leave fans should go crying back to their mummies. There are a lot of Buffalo ex-pats all over the USA so for all of you zenophobic that feel less than Torontonians, there is more than just current Buffalonians you are messing with... I think the Sabres may have won the war on this one.
IKnowPhysics Posted September 24, 2013 Report Posted September 24, 2013 Bodie's the son in law of the Leafs' President Tim Leiweke. Not sure that's factor, though.

I know I wouldn't have expected Scott to go after a non-fighter. By the way....Tropp ASKED for the fight...which is what I sort of expected. Which makes this whole thing even more laughable. I am glad however everyone joined the fracas as in years past we would have had Hecht picking up gloves and sticks as Scott is getting triple-teamed. And Rolston is doing a nice job in the aftermath. Even though nobody really has a beef here, at least he will play along and protect his guys without sounding whiney. Usually the Sabres are the whiners after things like this.

Did I miss something? edit1: Not sure if this was posted already: edit2: Clarkson's suspension is official, 10 games. Clarkson will be eligible to return to the Maple Leafs' lineup on Oct. 25 at Columbus.
IKnowPhysics Posted September 24, 2013 Report Posted September 24, 2013 Heh. Bob McKenzie @TSNBobMcKenzie2h Prisoners, two thumbs up? Thoughts? Also, could Hugh Jackman take John Scott? NHL pre-season games tonite, please no mayhem. #movienight Steve Ott @otterN9NE1h @TSNBobMcKenzie outstanding and Yes! Retweeted by Bob McKenzie

There are neutral folks on Hockeyfights saying that Miller is quoted in an interview this afternoon claiming Devane was the one asking Tropp to go. Closest I've seen yet to a player on the scene saying one way or the other who instigated that fight.

I agree with most of this, although I'll note that I think that Tropp's opponent is the only source for the claim that Tropp asked for it -- so it could be BS. Outstanding.

bunomatic Posted September 24, 2013 Report Posted September 24, 2013 Unlike others that claim there's no place in this league for John Scott I disagree. It seems every team in our division has loaded up for bear this off season and I kind of like having the biggest bear on our team. Scotts a team guy and I'm thinking with a young roster this season teams like Toronto will take liberties with the greenhorns and try to intimidate them. John Scott, Cody, Weber and to a lesser extent Kaleta will make them think twice. During the early years of the rebuild a deterant is absolutely needed.
IKnowPhysics Posted September 24, 2013 Report Posted September 24, 2013 I'll translate: Bob McKenzie: Does anyone think that Hugh Jackman could beat up John Scott? [Also, some other ###### about a TV show and hopes for a quiet non-brawly night of preseasons games.] Steve Ott: Yes! Unlike others that claim there's no place in this league for John Scott I disagree... Nobody likes the thought of having to use nuclear weapons, but their existence serves a purpose.
tom webster Posted September 24, 2013 Report Posted September 24, 2013 Yeah...how does Kessel break Flynn's nose? And the only think Kessel did wrong was the first 2 hand slash against Scott...but Scott jumped him. The "spear" was the bottom of the stick lengthwise into his padding. If that deserves a suspension....Lindy deserves 18 months in Attica for Luke Adam. Maybe you missed him circling around and two handing him at the end AFTER he had time to compose himself. And please, no one but you believes that Ruff/Adam crap but yiu
