kishoph Posted September 26, 2013 Report Posted September 26, 2013 I think Ott would make a great captain, except I would be concerned about what kind of relationship he would have with the refs, Ott is pretty vocal on the ice and may take some liberties with the rules. How will this sit with the refs ? Quote

beerme1 Posted September 26, 2013 Report Posted September 26, 2013 Vanek for C. Increases his value at the trade deadline. Quote
Doohicksie Posted September 26, 2013 Author Report Posted September 26, 2013 I'm getting closer to my home. I see what you did there. PS: There's another team on the Great Lakes that put all the pressure and expectation on young guys with potential. They even put the "C" on one. Two Cups later... But remember he was captain for 11 seasons before he won his first Cup. Buffalo fans are more impatient than that. I disagree. Tell me he didn't sulk somewhat when he didn't get it. He sulks. ALL. THE. TIME. For no reason at all. Quote

K-9 Posted September 26, 2013 Report Posted September 26, 2013 1. That's what he does. He sulks. In fact, I believe that "Vanek" might mean "sulker" in some weird German dialect deep in the Osterreich. Don't get me wrong; I love the guy, but he's Eeyore with mad skills. 2. Silly, and there's no backup for it. This made me chuckle. Oh, and I agree entirely. Ott until Girgensens is ready. GO SABRES!!! Quote
Doohicksie Posted September 26, 2013 Author Report Posted September 26, 2013 I meant Toews. Too many Great Lakes around these days. But my point is still valid. You might select a great leader but it doesn't necessarily take you to the promised land. Quote
ROC Sabres Posted September 26, 2013 Report Posted September 26, 2013 Well, since 06-07 all of our captains have either been traded or signed with a different team so Vanek would be the obvious choice. Quote
LastPommerFan Posted September 26, 2013 Report Posted September 26, 2013 Two Words: Jimmy Spithill. Any other captain is a waste of time. Quote

Eleven Posted September 26, 2013 Report Posted September 26, 2013 (edited) Well, since 06-07 all of our captains have either been traded or signed with a different team so Vanek would be the obvious choice. Since 1970, they've all been traded, signed elsewhere, or retired. BTW, the Sabres are nearly famous for trading their captains, and it goes way, way back. Edited September 26, 2013 by Eleven Quote
Peppy22 Posted September 27, 2013 Report Posted September 27, 2013 Its obviously down to Ott, Vanek and the Hoff. Quote
Koomkie Posted September 28, 2013 Report Posted September 28, 2013 i hope its vanek. i have a strong hope that cody will convince him to stay. i am in the belief that we need him to stay...unless we get some good players in a trade...to get this rebuild over as fast as possible. Quote
papazoid Posted September 28, 2013 Report Posted September 28, 2013 OTT - C VANEK - A MYERS - A Quote
Koomkie Posted September 28, 2013 Report Posted September 28, 2013 OTT - C VANEK - A MYERS - A i get that people want Ott. but do you think that the decision makers may consider him a little to intense to be the captain? i picture him being so nuts during games...focusing on the other team and getting in their heads, that he is not really the best option. just a thought. Iron Crotch Posted September 28, 2013 Report Posted September 28, 2013 I think The Hoff deserves a letter more than Myers. I'd go with Vanek, Ott, and The Hoff to start the year with letters. Quote

Sabres Fan in NS Posted September 28, 2013 Report Posted September 28, 2013 (edited) Perfect! I agree. A 50 goal scorer that was not afraid of the rough stuff. IMO, the most complete player to ever wear the Blue and Gold. Also, the best captain in the history of the Sabres. Dare I say ... our Mess. Edited September 28, 2013 by Sabres Fan In NS Quote
Huckleberry Posted September 29, 2013 Report Posted September 29, 2013 Drew stafford for captain, they have a tendency to dissapear from the roster :D Quote
wjag Posted September 29, 2013 Report Posted September 29, 2013 Drew stafford for captain, they have a tendency to dissapear from the roster :D How did we miss the obvious? Quote
26CornerBlitz Posted September 30, 2013 Report Posted September 30, 2013  @BfloBlog I think the Sabres should have done a month-long social media campaign to name their new captain. Maybe reveal one body part every day Quote
IKnowPhysics Posted September 30, 2013 Report Posted September 30, 2013 How did we miss the obvious? Hey, if it boosts his trade value. Quote
