LGR4GM Posted September 3, 2013 Report Posted September 3, 2013 That's a well presented post....but bottom line, we ARE going on year 4 (Season 4 for LGR...who really should be a bit more cheery for having some FSU trim on the side) of the Pegula/Regier era.....and we are being told to "Prepare to Suffer", even though Regier HAS been "unshackled" and given an unlimited checkbook which has included burying players after getting a premium in trades to take on their bloated contracts, scouts galore...which I would assume includes not only amature, but those who scout pro personnel and help in acquiring free agents or trades, facilities that are the best in the league, etc. He was forced to fire someone who I believe you said was "an elite" coach? Yet somehow....the Sabres are one of the dregs of the league and we are told to prepare for worse. We are going on year 2 of the rebuild though. Dracy and Terry f-ed up during year 1 and tried to push and win, they failed. Realizing they were failing they began the rebuild with the Hodgson trade and have continued it to date. I get what they are doing. I see what they are looking for and what their timeline is going forward. It sucks but I actually feel they are doing this the correct way and I am okay with their direction. Jameis Winston owned Pitt and FSU is now ranked over UGA... the Classy Lassy from Tallahassee is excited for Football and I can't wait to go to Clemson for the FSU game. As far as life goes, I am pretty happy.
deluca67 Posted September 4, 2013 Report Posted September 4, 2013 such a impact player that he was dropped to the third and fourth lines and eventually traded. But i forgot i am a sabres fan so clearly i cant know anything about this cause everyone does everything better then the sabres. At this point seguin is as likely to become another derek roy as anything else At this point he is likely to remain Tyler Seguin and continue to grow as a player. Becoming "Derek Roy" is just wishful thinking on your part.
drnkirishone Posted September 4, 2013 Report Posted September 4, 2013 At this point he is likely to remain Tyler Seguin and continue to grow as a player. Becoming "Derek Roy" is just wishful thinking on your part. and the continued growth is wishful thinking on your part
FGD59 Posted September 6, 2013 Report Posted September 6, 2013 Lot of good points on the granular level. proof that Darcy is suited to be a director of player personnel. Not a Gm with what an average finish of 7th in conference? The fact that TP did not fire lindy and Darcy after his first full year of ownership suggests he didn't do enough to build his own connections and relationships before he assumed ownership. As others have pointed out the rest of the NHL was stunned those 2 were not fired from the start. Finally if he was well regarded he'd have had a real coaching search because good coaches with options guwould have wanted to play for him, which we all know did not happen.

deluca67 Posted September 7, 2013 Report Posted September 7, 2013 and the continued growth is wishful thinking on your part Actuallly, it's based on the level of talent and development the kid has shown at a really young age while playing with on one of the league's premier franchises.
drnkirishone Posted September 7, 2013 Report Posted September 7, 2013 Actuallly, it's based on the level of talent and development the kid has shown at a really young age while playing with on one of the league's premier franchises. the same franchise that said nope dont want you or your future devopment
deluca67 Posted September 7, 2013 Report Posted September 7, 2013 the same franchise that said nope dont want you or your future devopment The same franchise that has a ton of talent and re-evaluated thier roster and felt Loui Eriksson was a better fit for what they want to do. You don't get a player like Eriksson for free.

deluca67 Posted September 8, 2013 Report Posted September 8, 2013 doesn't change the fact that this super awesome team that you cream your pants over decided that the other number 1 pick in the hall vs seguin draft was no longer in there plans I know you don't follow the other teams in the league that much and the Sabres are pretty much your only point of reference. Which may be why grasping the concept of a successful team trading away a uber-talented player for another uber-talented player is difficult for you to comprehend. The Bruins looked at what they had and evaluated what they need and decided Seguin to Dallas was in their best interest. As much as you need it to be a slight against Tyler Seguin you'll have to be disappointed. Like I am disappointed that a team with a GM like Jim Nill was smart enough to make make this move. A talented 21 year old like Tyler Sequin is exactly what the Sabres need.
Ross Rhea Posted September 8, 2013 Report Posted September 8, 2013 Accountability! This franchise goes nowhere until they stop rewarding mediocrity. Yup! and it all starts from the goaltender on out.
Kristian Posted September 8, 2013 Report Posted September 8, 2013 Yup! and it all starts from the goaltender on out. No, it starts from the GM and down.
IKnowPhysics Posted September 8, 2013 Report Posted September 8, 2013 I am disappointed that a team with a GM like Jim Nill was smart enough to make make this move. Was that a crack at Dallas or at Jim Nill? Dallas can continue to rot. Nill's got good pedigree under Ken Holland, has potential to be a good GM.

deluca67 Posted September 8, 2013 Report Posted September 8, 2013 first dont assume you ###### know me. Second you spinning his being traded as an endorsement of his greatness is comical. No "assumtion" at all, merely on observation based on the information provided in your posts. You obiously don't undstand the concept of moving a talented asset as a way of making adjustments to a roster. The Bruins used an asset based on what they felt is what's best for their franchise. If you need that to mean that Tyler Seguin is a lesser player than what he is, all the power to you. I'm not Anne Sullivan so I can't help you. Was that a crack at Dallas or at Jim Nill? Dallas can continue to rot. Nill's got good pedigree under Ken Holland, has potential to be a good GM. Not a "crack" at all, it was a compliment. Picking up Sequin was a really smart move by Jim Nill and the Stars. My disappointment is with the Sabres letting a 21 year old with so much talent get past them.

LGR4GM Posted September 9, 2013 Report Posted September 9, 2013 Like moving Kassian for Hodgson, right? Game Set Match
apuszczalowski Posted September 9, 2013 Report Posted September 9, 2013 Like moving Kassian for Hodgson, right? Except that in teh case of the trade Delucas arguing about, the player being moved is an actual proven NHL player, Kassian and Hodgson are still basically prospects who haven't done anything yet in the NHL. They moved Potential for Potential. Although Kassians position on the team was not at a position of strength for them, but they moved him for someone at a position of even greater weakness Yup! and it all starts from the goaltender on out. We get it, you despise Miller, i'm guessing he refused to sign an autograph for you one time and you can't let it go. But yeah, lets blame one of the few guys who has carried this team over the years for not being held accountable for the team sucking

IKnowPhysics Posted September 9, 2013 Report Posted September 9, 2013 My disappointment is with the Sabres letting a 21 year old with so much talent get past them. Assumes they were given the opportunity to make a deal for Seguin. Also assumes that we had the pieces Boston wanted in return for said deal. Also assumes that we were willing to part with those assets Boston wanted to make that deal. Disappointment here is pointless. Why not be disappointed that the Sabres let the Sedin twins get past them at the 1999 draft? Clearly the opportunity was there for another team to trade up to make that happen, why didn't we do it?

Easier to turn something into pick #2 and keep #3 than to turn #20 and something into #2 and #3, don't you think?

But yeah, lets blame one of the few guys who has carried this team over the years for not being held accountable for the team sucking Seguin is hardly any less of a prospect than Hodgson. He's only played about 60 more games, and is lesser of a goal scorer (so far). Not to mention he's a playoff bust. Does he have potential to be a superstar? Sure. Will he? That remains to be seen. But at this point I wouldn't put him and Hodgson on different levels just yet.

Easier to turn something into pick #2 and keep #3 than to turn #20 and something into #2 and #3, don't you think? You're starting to get the counterpoint. Who's to say if we had or were willing to part with assets deemed valuable in Boston. Could anyone else but Dallas engineer, or be willing to engineer, the deal that went through?
