bottlecap Posted March 26, 2006 Report Posted March 26, 2006 I don't know what's been wrong with Miller lately. He seems to not be able to see the puck. He's always looking around for it and seems disoriented at times. He's not holding us in games anymore and shouldn't be starting at this point. I guess you just have to hope for the best with Marty...hopefully he won't forget his pads. Forwards aren't paying the price either, they're not coming back with their assignments. It's a team breakdown. It started when we were falling behind in our 8 game winning streak; maybe we thought we could overcome anything at that point. If you want to win, you have to get out in front, stay out in front and keep stepping on the other team's neck.

During this streak, and even since the break, they don't seem to be getting there.

They are in a slump and playing very bad team defense, forwards and defensemen, Miller is not really to blame..........Wide open forwards with no pressure on them are gonna score in the NHL...........Miller has made some pretty good save the last couple of games, but this is a team sport and as a team things are not going well.........Besides Marty stunk up the house the last game he played, he was very, very shaky.
Rock DJ Posted March 26, 2006 Report Posted March 26, 2006 I brought this up DURING the 8 game streak because you could see it coming, and was chastised for it from some people in here. Maybe they are tired, and just don't have the legs. But other teams have a hectic schedule too. The breakdowns are everywhere though. Even last nights game, when the B's came down on the rush, someone found a way to get open, and when we came down on a rush, everyone stayed covered for the most part. Poor goaltending, horrible decision making, lead in the skates, bad positioning, the list goes on and on of the mistakes being made in these games. Clearing passes on the PK have been horrendous. PP is non-existant. Of all the bad last night, one thing stood out as the epitome of it all... On the PP, Max had the puck just inside the point, and the d (pominville i think) was RIGHT behind him, and did not move at all. Stayed right there, so Max had no open man to go to. One guy was able to cover both of them. Turnover occurs and puck is back in our end. It hurt me just to watch it, screaming at the TV to MOVE, even 3 feet..... SOMETHING happened to cause this, and if it hasn't happened already, a closed door team only meeting is an absolute MUST to right this ship......
JujuFish Posted March 26, 2006 Report Posted March 26, 2006 It's all my fault. I returned to western NY for spring break and they lost all 5 games. Now that I'm back at college, they'll start winning again. I'm joking of course, but the coincidence is unsettling. I was finally able to watch them play, and they go and lose 5 straight.
LabattBlue Posted March 27, 2006 Report Posted March 27, 2006 Two of my biggest concerns down the stretch are becoming reality. Will Miller hold up under the pressure and the defense on this team is just not good enough(especially when injuries hit). Here's hoping both areas can be corrected before the playoff start.
jzmack Posted March 27, 2006 Report Posted March 27, 2006 Why is everyone blaming one thing or another, when the sabres have really played poorly since it was announced that lindy's daughter is sick.
Eleven Posted March 27, 2006 Report Posted March 27, 2006 Why is everyone blaming one thing or another, when the sabres have really played poorly since it was announced that lindy's daughter is sick. Because they won the first couple of (or several or few?) games after that announcement. Not necessarily agreeing with every other post, but I'm certain Madeleine Ruff is not the reason.
