Ghost of Dwight Drane Posted July 27, 2013 Report Posted July 27, 2013 Sabres fans had had it already by the summer of 75? :) Don't even get me started on another song, but the Brenda and Eddie device would work well. A couple going through life as Sabres fans. Never thought of "Fire" as his worst song. I'm currently working on a Sabres parody of "Innocent Man"....... ;)
Stoner Posted July 27, 2013 Author Report Posted July 27, 2013 I'm currently working on a Sabres parody of "Innocent Man"....... ;) Maybe I can help. I've also been on the bottom bunk in SabreShank.
Stoner Posted July 27, 2013 Author Report Posted July 27, 2013 It's getting exciting. Initial production of the song is going well. It's time to button up the lyrics. Last call. Elvis becomes Ellis (easy!) to avoid any Wayne Presley confusion. bio's point about unis made me realize they had to be mentioned. Couldn't work in goathead, but did come up with a change: Larry Quinn, Bettman, blue and gold is back again. That brings in the whole story of wearing the blue and gold last game of 2002-03, then waiting for the blue and gold to be official for over three more years. As for the slug: I am on the fence about this, but maybe: Do you believe, Trump's hairpiece, Lucic, Hull in crease. Kind of an out of order catchall category of historic indignations. BTW, for lyrical purposes, the title is now "We Always Loved the Sabres."

Stoner Posted July 28, 2013 Author Report Posted July 28, 2013 For me, that honor probably goes to River of Dreams. I don't know why, but I hate that song. I can see that. I'm not sure his heart was in pop music toward the end. (Or ever, based on interviews he's done.)
Stoner Posted August 6, 2013 Author Report Posted August 6, 2013 Final and I mean final lyrics. It's off to the musician among us. Some changes: had to work in Batman; had to rhyme OjibwaY, so Rob Ray got moved; Drury becomes Soupy; and there's a new line after "suffering." I wanted that line to represent suffering over time, not just very recent (Lucic, tweet). --- "We Always Loved the Sabres" Reuben Pastor, Seymour Knox, Bob Swados, franchise talks Oakland Seals, backroom deals, Sabres in Buffalo Clarence Campbell, spins the wheel, hello Perreault, Imlach steals Roger Crozier, Sundae Bafo, faceoff Beliveau Gerry Meehan, Goyette, Ted Darling, Jeanneret Christie, seats in the sky, and hip checks by Robitaille French Connection, Aud streak, Buffalo's got a winning team! biodork Posted August 6, 2013 Report Posted August 6, 2013 Awesome; can't wait to hear how it turns out!
Stoner Posted August 17, 2013 Author Report Posted August 17, 2013 Awesome; can't wait to hear how it turns out! It's going to be released on Twitter in .2 second increments.
darksabre Posted August 17, 2013 Report Posted August 17, 2013 It's going to be released on Twitter in .2 second increments.
SwampD Posted August 17, 2013 Report Posted August 17, 2013 I should probably give an update. The instruments and choruses are recorded. I gotta say, it's sounds pretty f'n good. Way better than I expected,… even with my voice ruining it. I'm leaving tomorrow to go to the 'Dacks for a week (should put that in the Awesome thread) but have the following week off of work, as well. I am planning on finishing it then for a Labor Day release.
Stoner Posted August 18, 2013 Author Report Posted August 18, 2013 Pretty exciting. Thanks Swamp. Watch for my PM.
Stoner Posted August 18, 2013 Author Report Posted August 18, 2013 Anyone want to take charge of the YouTube video production?
Sabres Fan in NS Posted August 18, 2013 Report Posted August 18, 2013 While I absolutely detest everything about and produced by Billy Joel, this effort is awesome. Way to go PA and everyones else involved.
Stoner Posted August 18, 2013 Author Report Posted August 18, 2013 Detest? Really? Why? Inquiring minds want to know.
Sabres Fan in NS Posted August 18, 2013 Report Posted August 18, 2013 Detest? Really? Why? Inquiring minds want to know. Oh, it's a long and winding road ........
Stoner Posted August 18, 2013 Author Report Posted August 18, 2013 Oh, it's a long and winding road ........ You wrote Piano Man on a napkin and he stole it?
Supersabre Posted August 18, 2013 Report Posted August 18, 2013 http://youtu.be/YMIfsOuyHfU 7.7 and who else both. That was an awesome game. One of the reasons I keep my tickets. I love, love, loved watching that video. Wow!!!! That was a game!!!
MattPie Posted August 18, 2013 Report Posted August 18, 2013 Oh, it's a long and winding road ........ I can't believe you've confused Billy Joel and the Beatles.
Weave Posted August 18, 2013 Report Posted August 18, 2013 I can't believe you've confused Billy Joel and the Beatles. I was wondering about that. Long and winding road seems like an odd reference in an "I hate Billy Joel" post.
I am Defecting Posted August 19, 2013 Report Posted August 19, 2013 Seems like it could work in a Reggae Beat for Coffeehouses. It also seems like the Ramones could have sang it, upbeat. It's a well written song by The Piano Man, ripe for variation because of the song's vast subject, even if it does sound like the Beatles. ;)
spndnchz Posted August 19, 2013 Report Posted August 19, 2013 Anyone want to take charge of the YouTube video production? What's the format going to be? avi? etc...
Ghost of Dwight Drane Posted August 19, 2013 Report Posted August 19, 2013 I was wondering about that. Long and winding road seems like an odd reference in an "I hate Billy Joel" post. He probably meant..."It was a long and winding road, but Billy chose to go straight ahead and end up in the neighbor's living room with his '94 Land Rover".......
Stoner Posted August 19, 2013 Author Report Posted August 19, 2013 What's the format going to be? avi? etc... The music you mean? I don't know.
Stoner Posted August 22, 2013 Author Report Posted August 22, 2013 Has NS been heard from since going after Billy Joel? Think the Joel Mafia got to him? Scene from an Italian Restaurant in Nova Scotia: NS's brains and chicken parm all, like, comingled.
I am Defecting Posted August 22, 2013 Report Posted August 22, 2013 If you see something, say something. Let's hope it's nothing. http://metronews.ca/...or-missing-man/ http://atlantic.ctvn...large-1.1421840 edit: the ages don't correspond.
