26CornerBlitz Posted April 3, 2014 Report Posted April 3, 2014 (edited) What a terrible line to have Grigs on... Listening on the radio, sounds like Grigs is winning plenty of puck battles along the wall. @AmerksHockey GOAALLL!!! Not to be outdone, Catenacci uses a pretty move to score his 2nd of the night! 4-0 #Amerks! http://youtu.be/NqHY1KsBw-g Edited April 3, 2014 by 26CornerBlitz Quote

Beauty of a play. Wow. ROC 5 SYR 1 [3rd] #Sabres @SabresProspects Nifty move by Mikhail Grigorenko and then a nice feed to Freddy Roy for the goal. 26CornerBlitz Posted April 3, 2014 Report Posted April 3, 2014 (edited) @SabresProspects Amerks defeat SYR 5-2. Grigorenko looked much better than the last time we saw him in Roch. Highlights 4/2 Recap: Cat pounces for pair; Grigorenko sharp in debut Mikhail Grigorenko returned to work Wednesday, posting a nice assist and putting in a solid all-around effort in his AHL season debut as the Amerks snapped a nine-game skid with a 5-2 victory over Syracuse. After jarring the puck loose in the Amerks' end of the rink, Grigorenko was able to get it back at the Crunch blue line, make a nice inside-out move, and zip a crisp feed across the slot to former Quebec Remparts teammate Frederick Roy for the goal. Grigorenko's assist, along with his strong play at both ends of the ice, provides signs of encouragement for both an Amerks squad clearly in need of a boost (nine straight losses), as well as a Sabres organization who would love nothing better than to see the 2012 first-rounder take his development to the next level. In addition to centering a line between Roy and Kevin Sundher, the talented Russian also played the right point opposite Mark Pysyk on Rochester's top power play unit. The effort was rounded out with two shots on goal and plus-one rating. Edited April 3, 2014 by 26CornerBlitz Quote
26CornerBlitz Posted April 3, 2014 Report Posted April 3, 2014 (edited) @AmerksHockey Congrats to #Amerks goalie Andrey Makarov on his first AHL victory tonight! Strong start for Grigorenko as Amerks end losing skid On his first regular-season shift as a member of the Rochester Americans, Mikhail Grigorenko dashed toward the net on a two-on-one fast break but shot wide.It was a sign of things to come; good things. Grigorenko didn't score a goal in the 5-2 victory over the Syracuse Crunch, but he set up the last one (by linemate Freddy Roy) and fit in with the Amerks just like he has been here for three months. A whole lot of people want to see how Grigorenko accepts his time with the Amerks as the American Hockey League's regular season winds down. Some of those people have titles with the Buffalo Sabres, like general manager (Tim Murray) and coach (Ted Nolan). Edited April 3, 2014 by 26CornerBlitz Quote
26CornerBlitz Posted April 3, 2014 Report Posted April 3, 2014 Amerks end losing streak, Grigorenko shines in debut @matthewwgr Reporting Mikhail Grigorenko is not faster than the last time we saw him. He did not throw opposing players into the wall like Hulk Hogan at the beginning of Rocky III. He did not drop the gloves or dive in front of a 90 mph slap shot. But, in his first night as a Rochester American, he looked more competitive, more confident and more dynamic than the last time he played professional hockey. Oh, and he made some filthy moves with the puck. The former Sabres first-round draft pick opened his first shift by creating a 2-on-1 and firing a high blocker shot on Syracuse goaltender Kasters Gudlevskis. His first two periods in the Amerks' 5-2 win over the Crunch included two shots on goal, a plus-10 Corsi number (shot attempts vs. opponents shot attempts), two faceoff wins, a drawn penalty and some time on the first power play unit. It was a pretty solid start for a guy who has been playing against kids with the Quebec Ramparts for the second half of the season. http://youtu.be/SAOh15-uLYM Quote
LGR4GM Posted April 3, 2014 Report Posted April 3, 2014 Mikhail Grigorenko is saying all the right things and had a good game. He was on the 3rd line but it is a good step in the right direction. Glad he found success in his first game back up to the pros. Quote

Andrew Amerk Posted April 5, 2014 Report Posted April 5, 2014 Great quote by Porter: Kevin Porter steered in a Blake Kessel centering pass at 9:41 of the third period to break a 3-3 tie, then Makarov played magician in his goal crease. “That’s why you’ve got a goalie — he’s got to make some saves,” Porter said. Through a bit of traffic. Nothing of note. I agree with you. That is a pass that happens dozens and dozens of times in an NHL game, 95% of them not leading to anything. Its better than him blindly throwing the puck through the center of the ice,but it was a good pass that most NHL players make a few times a game, nothing else. Quote
