Sabres Fan in NS Posted March 17, 2014 Report Posted March 17, 2014 At this rate the Sabres organization will run out of goalies. Bet they wish they had drafted Fucale now. Quote
Hoss Posted March 17, 2014 Report Posted March 17, 2014 At this rate the Sabres organization will run out of goalies. Bet they wish they had drafted Fucale now. Worth noting that two teams with two of the brightest young goalies in the league (Rask and Price) drafted the two highest profile goalies in recent year (Fucale and Subban). That's how you avoid goalie purgatory. Quote

26CornerBlitz Posted March 20, 2014 Report Posted March 20, 2014 AMERKS SIGN DEFENSEMAN BLAKE KESSEL TO PTO CONTRACT The Rochester Americans announced today that the team has signed defenseman Blake Kessel to a professional tryout contract. Kessel, 24, has appeared in 47 ECHL games this season with the Orlando Solar Bears and Bakersfield Condors, recording a total of 36 points (8+28) and 28 penalty minutes to rank fourth in scoring among ECHL defensemen. He has also played in three American Hockey League games this season with the Rockford IceHogs. In 101 career ECHL games with Orlando, Bakersfield and the Trenton Titans, the 6-foot-2, 210-pound Kessel has recorded 77 points (16+61) and 62 penalty minutes. He has also played in 66 career AHL games with Rockford and the Adirondack Phantoms, collecting 22 points (3+19) and 12 penalty minutes. A native of Verona, Wisconsin, Kessel was originally selected by the New York Islanders in the sixth round (166th overall) of the 2007 NHL Entry Draft. Quote
shrader Posted March 21, 2014 Report Posted March 21, 2014 It's a little known fact that Blake is actually Phil's severed left nut. Quote

inkman Posted March 24, 2014 Report Posted March 24, 2014 Amerks have been outscored 15-3 last 9 periods. Playing with ECHL defense & goalie. Quote
inkman Posted March 27, 2014 Report Posted March 27, 2014 Down 2-0 being outshot 21-4 with 4 minutes left in the second period. Glad these tickets were free. If only the beer was... Quote
Norcal Posted March 27, 2014 Report Posted March 27, 2014 Are the Amerks still slated to make the playoffs? If they are still fighting for the right to enter the tournament should the Sabres consider this when making call ups to the big club? Especially considering the Sabres lost season and very little benefit of them playing out the string with nothing to play for, other than a chance to possibly do some evaluation? Just wondering? With 10 games left they sit a point out of the 7th and 8th seed. It does hurt them but there aren't really any options. Quote

nfreeman Posted March 27, 2014 Report Posted March 27, 2014 Probably sowing seeds of discontent among various vice presidents of hockey operations. Very nice. Quote

Thanks, too bad they don't leave the better eligible players down to help the push. I like Hackett, Lew, Risto, Rudy and Deslaurier but they would be better off making the playoffs with Rochester and getting that experience it seems? Quote
26CornerBlitz Posted March 29, 2014 Report Posted March 29, 2014 @BNHarrington Nolan said they will talk about Grigo. Sounds like going to Amerks. Quote

Eleven Posted March 30, 2014 Report Posted March 30, 2014 (edited) Amerks need D and a goalie. Grig ain't helping. Taro explained as much to me tonight. I had no idea how badly the casualties are affecting the Amerks. Edited March 30, 2014 by Eleven Quote
Huckleberry Posted March 31, 2014 Report Posted March 31, 2014 Just glad to see Grigorenko play at a higher level, and who knows maybe he'll do some good. Quote
