ubkev Posted November 17, 2021 Report Posted November 17, 2021 Remember folks, there is never a line to use the squat rack. Leg day. Quote
Doohicksie Posted January 31, 2022 Report Posted January 31, 2022 It was a nice day for a bike ride here in Texas today. It's supposed to get down to 16ºF this week, but today was awesome. Thirty miles on my fixed gear bike. And... I'm down 10 pounds so far this year. Man, is that the face of an Old Man™ or what? 3 Quote
ubkev Posted April 6, 2022 Report Posted April 6, 2022 Yesterday I had my annual checkup. I weighed in at 183, fully dressed and in boots. Today I came back for blood work after a 12 hour fast. I wore the exact same hoodie and boots. Weighed in at 170. I haven't done a weight cut since about 2006, but I'm pretty sure I could get down to the middleweight limit of 160 in about 3 days. Quote

Damn son, last time I was at work, I popped on the triage scale.... Not a pretty sight, broke 200 lbs for the first time in I can't even remember. You have met me, I'm not a man that has a frame for 200 lbs 😂😂 Quote

This can’t be correct. 13 pounds in a day, fasting for 12 hours is not a big fast, I think the scales are off. This morning I showed a 5 pound loss since March 24, almost 2 weeks. That is attributed to lots of walking, exercise, and diet improvements. I am 63 and I need to lose 25 to get where I want to be. 5 down but 20 more by July will be a challenge. Quote

I was 177 before I got in the shower and 183 fully dressed. It was right. I used to weight cut all the time. 20 pounds in the last 3.5-4 days before a fight. I did 16 in day once. Everything comes right back the minute you hydrate and eat. Quote

Punch’s common sense old man plan to lose 20 more pounds. 1. walk a lot every day 2. golf 36 holes per week, preferably 54 3. Weight train 3 days per week 4. Eat good food. Never fast food, no processed junk, no salty snack chips (not even Ruffles), no cookies, no candy 5. Lots of fruits and vegetables 6. No food at all past 7:00 pm 7. I cut out beer for now to get it going, but good wine (life is too short to drink bad wine) and certain whiskies in moderation Now, I like to travel so it gets hard to keep all this going but I intend to be there by summer. Did they have to squeeze your arm like a tube of toothpaste to get the blood into the vial? Quote

You could really see it slowing down. 3 hours ago, Pimlach said: Ok. I have heard of it but once you eat and drink it’s back. High school wrestlers did these feats of magic too as I recall. ubkev Posted June 13, 2022 Report Posted June 13, 2022 (edited) Ok, we're 3 weeks post-illness and after calling myself names while staring at my shirtless body in the mirror, I'm back in the gym! Thank Christ! Edited June 14, 2022 by ubkev Quote

MattPie Posted June 14, 2022 Report Posted June 14, 2022 Apparently the last time I looked at this thread was 2018 and @biodork was posting. Huh. Doing a ride this weekend, https://www.bikesignup.com/bikesandbeers-fingerlakes (30 mile). Had a bit of panic after I signed up without looking at the course; there are some hills around here I 100% cannot ride up. Did a test ride this morning on similar hills as the course and crawled up them without stopping. 2x-3x the Strava KOM times; I'll take it. 🤞 Quote
Doohicksie Posted June 14, 2022 Report Posted June 14, 2022 It was 104 degrees when I started my ride Sunday. Yeah, I broke a sweat. 1 Quote

Dang that is way to hot, l've been increasing my run/walks for the past 2 months and l hit 4 miles today. Pretty pumped about that and my average time is the same as when l was at 2.5 miles. I do mine at sunrise when it's only in the low 80's. Be careful of heat stroke at those temps. 1 Quote

It was 104 when I started (per Stava) but the sun was past its peak and set shortly afterward. It was actually pretty good riding. Quote
MattPie Posted June 14, 2022 Report Posted June 14, 2022 I was ~65 this morning when I started, climbed all the way to 70 before I finished, lol. 2 Quote
Wyldnwoody44 Posted June 14, 2022 Report Posted June 14, 2022 I broke 200 lbs this week. Not a sweat per se, until I walked up a flight of stairs 😂😂 I need to get my ***** figured out so I can do more active things that will inevitably lead to injuring myself again 😜 Quote

Any out of town specialists that might be able to nail it down? Quote

Any out of town specialists that might be able to nail it down? I have a couple potential surgeries That I can go for, neither are a guarantee and we don't know exactly what we're treating. Leading diagnosis is still exertional compartment syndrome. Gastroc recession or fasciotomy are the suggested attempts. Both carry risk and have a fairly long healing time without any real guarantee. I've thought about looking to a bigger city, but haven't started that route yet. Quote
