Doohicksie Posted January 1, 2017 Report Posted January 1, 2017 Pretty awesome! Thanks! My measure is weight, just trying to keep those pounds down, hard this time of year True. Quote
Doohicksie Posted January 3, 2017 Report Posted January 3, 2017 Didn't anyone set any resolutions? Come on, let's get sweaty! My first ride of 2017 was to watch the Bills in that Irish Wake of a season finale. Just there and back, 14 miles. Did another short ride day... a coffee run... for 18 and a half miles. Quote

I don't do resolutions. But I have enough been working out every day for the past 3 weeks to get into hockey shape. Season starts on Sunday! I'm slowly getting my legs back. I rode the bike a little tonight, just a 5 mile sprint, but it got the heart rate up. Quote
Sabel79 Posted January 3, 2017 Report Posted January 3, 2017 Made it to the gym this morning. Somebody get me a cookie. Quote

CallawaySabres Posted January 3, 2017 Report Posted January 3, 2017 It's been a while. I had an awful cold that lingered over three weeks which coincided with some really lousy weather. I finally got back on the bike yesterday, did 36 miles on my old 3 speed, including the obligatory coffee stop. Today I got more ambitious. I took my 1983 Raleigh Super Course out for a 50 miler. Coffee stop: And then a stop for something colder, since the temps got up into the 80s. If I manage a big finish to the year, I can get up to an average of 100 miles per week for the whole year. To get there I still need over a hundred miles between now and Saturday. Those Mexican sodas rock....Pineapple flavor is amazing Quote
TrueBlueGED Posted January 3, 2017 Report Posted January 3, 2017 Could easily put this in the complaint thread, but my gym is in the midst of a huge renovation AND I'm dealing with resolution people. It's a show. Quote

It's a ###### show. See, ya gotta take 2 weeks off to start the year. Just maintain at home. The resolution people die off in about 10 days. All is back to normal by groundhog day. Quote
josie Posted January 4, 2017 Report Posted January 4, 2017 Got back to the studio and finally started aerial silks. I was killing it! Strongest one in the class! Feeling great! ... got back into my regular high level classes today and oof... nah... got a looong way to go.... But still, I remember being the same as everyone else in a level one class! There's progress! And it feels good. Planning to hit the ice tomorrow at RIT for a skate, have been going to our little apartment gym and lifting/walking. Ankle still isn't a fan of running. Working it back up. It's long past time. Quote

Yesterday was leg day, and for the first time in a long time, I'm not crippled today. Feels good to be getting my strength back. It's taken just shy of a month. Quote
ubkev Posted January 4, 2017 Report Posted January 4, 2017 BEAST. I'll agree with you when I can go three rounds of 2 minutes with the heavy bag. As of now, my lungs won't allow 1! Quote
Doohicksie Posted January 5, 2017 Report Posted January 5, 2017 I'll agree with you when I can go three rounds of 2 minutes with the heavy bag. I've got a heavy bag in my garage that I haven't used in years.... maybe I need to work on some kicks again (I used to take Tae Kwon Do lessons). Quote
ubkev Posted January 5, 2017 Report Posted January 5, 2017 I've got a heavy bag in my garage that I haven't used in years.... maybe I need to work on some kicks again (I used to take Tae Kwon Do lessons). Took kung fu for 10 years and then I started boxing. Boxing was more fun. There is just something so completely satisfying about punching someone in the face. And then doing it again. Very few things in this world feel better. Quote

Sabel79 Posted January 5, 2017 Report Posted January 5, 2017 http://www.teefury.com/cookies-gym-1 Well, that's a bit on the nose. Quote
Jsixspd Posted January 5, 2017 Report Posted January 5, 2017 Well, I went for a regular workout to Planet Fitness last night, and it looked like a 3 Ring circus - cars everywhere. And then I remembered..... New Years Resolutions. I went New Years Day - it was quiet. I thought perhaps I'd escaped that ugliness, but no such luck! ugh!!!I turned around, left and went on my lunch hour today. I've been going to the gym pretty regularly and consistently (it will be 5 years in February) and every year I see the wave of New Years members who will be gone in 6 or 7 weeks. lol. Well, at least the money from the newbs that don't stick with it help keep my gym membership fee down. Quote
biodork Posted January 6, 2017 Report Posted January 6, 2017 Cold as it is, snowshoeing is always sweaty business. Quote
josie Posted January 6, 2017 Report Posted January 6, 2017 (edited) Ripped my armpit open on the trapeze rope this week.... Ripped my feet open in the last class two weeks ago... The moves get harder and the discomfort grows! Couple cool things- Finally getting this move. This was the fourth time I'd done it, so I was pretty beat and my legs aren't totally straight. Link is a vid. Didn't feel like fuddling with youtube. https://twitter.com/josie914/status/817188890545160193 Aaand I'm the headless hulk beast on the bottom. Andrea (on top) weighs a bit more than I do (she's a few inches taller), so this was quite the press for me. (I'm holding up most of her body. Arms aren't doing a lot to hold her up) Time to get back into hockey/leg workouts! It's alllll related now. Edited January 6, 2017 by Josie914 Quote
