Why would St. Louis do this? MAYBE one of Berglund/Oshie but we're not getting both. Also, McBain had to be paired with a 2nd rounder to acquire a player worth a second rounder. He nets maybe a 4th rounder.

thewookie1 Posted July 10, 2013 Report Posted July 10, 2013 What if we just trade Miller(50%) and 2 2nd rounders to St. Louis for Oshie & Halak + a 1st rounder Saves St. Louis about 4mil on their cap. Trade Stafford for a 2nd rounder and call it a day with him. Sign Grabovski to a 2/3 year 4.5mil contract. I am sure I am in a vast minority but I would prefer to keep Stafford on the second line rather than Foligno. Other than that, it looks like a lineup that will continue to be pushed around by the bull centers in the league.

MattPie Posted July 10, 2013 Report Posted July 10, 2013 Guys, if you're using any sort of "normal" lineup, Grigorenko has no business on the 3rd line. For him, it's second line center or wing, or bust.

For him, it's second line center or wing, or bust. I certainly would not put on the 2nd line right off the bat, I'd start him on the 3rd line and get him to earn to the 2nd line C job. He certainly didn't prove much last year.

Eleven Posted July 10, 2013 Report Posted July 10, 2013 I don't think you understand the traditional role of a 3rd line center. Yeah, this team is not going to have 3 scoring lines. I miss 2007.

MattPie Posted July 10, 2013 Report Posted July 10, 2013 Nice, GCOE. I too miss 2005-2007, far more fun hockey to watch, winning record or not.
26CornerBlitz Posted July 10, 2013 Report Posted July 10, 2013 @RenLavoieRDS Blues trade David Perron to Oilers. Details to follow. #RDS
LGR4GM Posted July 10, 2013 Report Posted July 10, 2013 David Pagnotta @TheFourthPeriod 45s Magnus Paajarvi and a 2014 2nd going to St. Louis for Perron
TrueBlueGED Posted July 10, 2013 Report Posted July 10, 2013 Really like that deal for Edmonton. Their top-6 absolutely needed a quality two-way possession player and it's not like they'll miss Paajarvi's potential given their plethora of young stars.
G-Daddy Posted July 10, 2013 Report Posted July 10, 2013 With these STL trades, did DR miss out on a landing spot for Miller or Vanek?
LGR4GM Posted July 10, 2013 Report Posted July 10, 2013 With these STL trades, did DR miss out on a landing spot for Miller or Vanek? I doubt that considering St Louis is now saving 3.8mil with Perron gone (minus what Paajarvi signs for (hes a RFA))
IKnowPhysics Posted July 10, 2013 Report Posted July 10, 2013 With these STL trades, did DR miss out on a landing spot for Miller or Vanek? Nah. If there was a landing spot there, it's still there.
TrueBlueGED Posted July 10, 2013 Report Posted July 10, 2013 With these STL trades, did DR miss out on a landing spot for Miller or Vanek? My guess is they wanted to move out salary for a Pietrangelo mega deal. So I'd say no, at least not yet.
nobody Posted July 10, 2013 Report Posted July 10, 2013 Maybe Darcy can get Paajarvi from STL now to add to the Swedish contingent.
CheckingLine Posted July 11, 2013 Report Posted July 11, 2013 Proposed Trade: ST. Louis: Gets: Miller + negotiation for extension prior to deal. Gives: 2014 1st + Halak Benefit: Franchise goalie w/ potential to get them the couple extra Ws in the playoffs the have lacked. Edmonton: Gets: Halak + Ennis or Stafford + Pysyk or McNabb + 2014 1st STL + (2) 2nds Buf Gives: Yakupov Benefits: Goalie tandem upgrade + equivalent of (3) 1sts + (2) 2nds. Included are potential top 4 D- man, former 20 goal scorer, and (3) of the top 75 players from 2014 draft. Buffalo: Gets: Nail Yakupov Gives: Miller + Ennis or Stafford + Pysyk or McNabb + (2) 2014 2nds. Benefits: World Class top 6 forward + ammo to resign Vanek + credibility for next year's free agent class.
Huckleberry Posted July 11, 2013 Report Posted July 11, 2013 Well these 4 last pages of fantasy between sabres - oilers - blues just turned to ######. Oilers and blues seem to have made their own deal, and thank god. We shouldn't sell Vanek or Miller for this kind of ######. Perron for Paarjavi + 2nd 2014. I think Blues got robbed.

The Oilers top prospect and a 2nd pick for a second line winger? That's a good deal. Vanek should be worth that and a little more. Proposed Trade: ST. Louis: Gets: Miller + negotiation for extension prior to deal. Gives: 2014 1st + Halak Benefit: Franchise goalie w/ potential to get them the couple extra Ws in the playoffs the have lacked. The NHL doesn't allow it. Essentially, you're trading Miller, Ennis (or Stafford+Pysyk or McNabb) and two 2nds for Yakupov. Meh.
