X. Benedict Posted June 28, 2013 Report Posted June 28, 2013 @otterN9NE 36s Congratulations to my kid bro @Mike6Weber on a well deserved new contract with @BuffaloSabres #DontWishForItWorkForIt I think that is good news.
darksabre Posted June 28, 2013 Report Posted June 28, 2013 Good. Mike has improved. Let's see if he can keep developing into that shutdown D man we need.
dudacek Posted June 28, 2013 Report Posted June 28, 2013 Not overly concerned with the terms at the moment, just glad he's aboard. He's emerging and he's going to be a part of what we build moving forward.
Hoss Posted June 28, 2013 Report Posted June 28, 2013 3 years. Anyone know the $$. I haven't seen any numbers. Three years makes it interesting. Maybe it's 1.5 or so?
X. Benedict Posted June 28, 2013 Report Posted June 28, 2013 Same old same old... Not happy about Mike Weber?
Trettioåtta Posted June 28, 2013 Report Posted June 28, 2013 Weber really impressed me this season. Let's hope he keeps it up. His game was simple, physical and effective. Perfect 4/5 guy
IKnowPhysics Posted June 28, 2013 Report Posted June 28, 2013 For three years, I'd guess $4.1M total.
Hoss Posted June 28, 2013 Report Posted June 28, 2013 It's 3 years, 5 mill. $1.5 in the first two seasons and then $2 mill in year three.

stenbaro Posted June 28, 2013 Report Posted June 28, 2013 Glad they signed him...He is our Brooks Orpik.....
LastPommerFan Posted June 28, 2013 Report Posted June 28, 2013 Not happy about Mike Weber? Just trolling...
Hoss Posted June 28, 2013 Report Posted June 28, 2013 Glad they signed him...He is our Brooks Orpik..... He's from Pittsburgh. Orpik is from Amherst. Interesting comparison with that little caveat.
IKnowPhysics Posted June 28, 2013 Report Posted June 28, 2013 If he improved over each of the next two years like he improved this past year, he'd be a $3.5-$4.5M guy. I'd like to see that.
TrueBlueGED Posted June 28, 2013 Report Posted June 28, 2013 Glad they signed him...He is our Brooks Orpik..... We can only hope Weber turns out to be as good as Orpik. In any event, good deal for a solid 3rd pairing guy, which is hopefully the level of play he maintains. If he improved over each of the next two years like he improved this past year, he'd be a $3.5-$4.5M guy. I'd like to see that. So would i...but I just don't see that kind of potential in him, although I feel like I'm in a minority around here on that.

I'm not sure I see it in him either, but I'd like to see him expand that potential somewhat through the implementation of his great work ethic. Honestly, I'm still not sold on his abilities or consistency, but "he's got guts, and guts is enough."
26CornerBlitz Posted June 28, 2013 Author Report Posted June 28, 2013 Official word from the Sabres: @BuffaloSabres It's official - the Buffalo Sabres have signed defenseman Mike Weber to a multi-year contract extension. Welcome back @Mike6Weber !
stenbaro Posted June 28, 2013 Report Posted June 28, 2013 He's from Pittsburgh. Orpik is from Amherst. Interesting comparison with that little caveat. I have found that interesting as well....Weber is no number 1 or 2 dman but he is a solid 12-14 minute dman by far....He is a good solid hockey player that hurts people in the corners and around the net....
Who Else? Posted June 28, 2013 Report Posted June 28, 2013 Steal. Weber was consistantly one of the best two defensemen on the ice all year. I honestly feel kind of bad for him. If he were an UFA, I'm sure he could have got double (see Steve Montador).
