Why stop there? Why not separate deflected shot save percentage, that's not predictive either. Screened shot save percentage? Hell, let's just narrow it down to 5 on 5, point blank, unscreened in regulation save percentage. Let's go one more step, each season before the year starts, every goaltender will face 20 different players from around the league in slap shots, breakaways and wrist shots. Each goaltender will then be given a ranking that will stay with them until the following year. It will take all variables out of the equation since each goaltender will all face identical tests. :P

 

Seriously, this was about Miller vs Enroth. Most of us agree Miller should be gone, so this is all moot. Even though Enroth had better numbers (the ones I'm concerned with) I think Miller has a bad attitude and will just be a distraction to a young team trying to find it's identity.

Miller - Stable, predictable, solid

Enroth - unknown, unknown, unknown

 

Miller predictably average, I want better than average. Stable? not mentally. Solid, at what? Being average!

 

Turn the page, that ship has sailed, whatever you want to call it, it didn't work with him. Fresh new young talent is now needed.

Yea, missing the entire point of the post. That being said I have repeatedly argued against signing older vets that I don't think bring anything and I have advocated helping the young guys grow. O and I have repeatedly shown that Miller and Enroth have been almost statistically the same. Enroth has yet to prove he is better.

 

If you added together all of their SV% the person with the higher number would be best. So let us add together the last 3years.

Miller: 2747 Cumulative SV% in 167gp

Enroth: 2743 Cumulative SV% in 52gp

 

So in the last 3 years Miller is better.

Because the rules changed after his 2nd year.... how about that for a good reason. If Chewbacca is a 7ft Wookie living on Endor with 2ft Ewoks does that make sense? No. So you must acquit.

 

so .01 and .03 for a total of a sv% of .04 better than Miller over the last two years. This is what you want? You want us to show that statistically Enroth has managed 2 years where total he is .04% better. Regardless of the fact that Miller played 101 games and Enroth only 38 in those 2 years. Regardless of the # of shots faced.

This is chewbacca. He is a wookie from the planet kishik. Now he is on Endor. Why would an 8ft wookie want to live with a bunch 2dt tall ewoks? Now you have to ask yourself what does this have to do with this case? NOTHING. It does not make sense. None of this makes sense. If chewbacca lives on Endor you must acquit.

I'm still trying to figure out why anyone actually wants Enroth to be our starter over Miller. Miller is a proven NHL goaltender who isn't experiencing a substantial drop off in performance yet. That's really all you can ask from a goalie, and it's been that way forever.

 

I want Enroth to get his shot. But Miller is still the number one until he isn't.

I want Enroth to get his shot. But Miller is still the number one until he isn't.

 

If Miller brings back an appropriate return, by all means. This team won't be competitive for a while. To me, it's a trade issue. Those that think Miller should ride the bench in Buffalo are just silly.

If Ryan Miller was a good he would play for someone better but he is good so he plays for the Sabres which means he isn't as good as the good playing backup for the Sabres because Ryan Miller is in fact superbad and since he is superbad he must be in fact Seth Rogen and do you really want Seth Rogen as your GT? I think we all the answer is no.

Agreed, trading Miller for assets, getting rid of Stafford and signing Vanek to an extension is taking way too long. Not to mention the 5 year drought of not having a top notch center, the only one close was the oft injured Tin Man.

I like Enroth vs. Miller talk because it reminds me of the first 15 games or so of the 2011-2012 season (before Lucic). When that was the only thing this board had to argue about. Those were the days.

 

I don't like Enroth vs. Miller talk because 11 and d4rk kind of summed up everything in two short posts. Everything else is just :sick:
