First of all, it's not a fact. The Devils have draft picks and prospects to deal if they choose to.

Right now the Sabres have a team that is destined for the 2014 NHL draft lottery. Picks and prospects are nice, at some point they need to start paying off in the NHL.

So? You honestly think that NJD will not also be in the 2014 draft lottery? They have a real shot to be there as well. This rebuild started IMPO with the Hodgson trade. so we are just over a year into it. Sorry that we couldn't draft Sidney Crosby but our picks and prospects are looking better with every passing day. Lets look at the past 3 drafts...

Armia, Catenacci, Grigorenko, McCabe, Girgensons, Ristolainen, Zadorov, Compher, Bailey, Hurley. You don't think that at some point within the next 2-3years most of these guys will start being contributors or at least be in Rochester well on their way?

I don't like DR that much but I have to give the man credit. He has restocked the cupboard quite well over the last 3 drafts. We now have 3 potential top defenders, 4 top 6 wingers potentially, and 3 top 2 centers potentially. Now argue that DR is all about potential but we had to start from somewhere and at least now we are hearing them only speak about how there most interested in hard work. That is all Devine and Regier have talked about for the last 3 months.

I would rather be Buffalo with DR than NJD with just about anyone as GM. NJD lost Parise, Kovalchuk, there 2014 1st round pick and have 2 prospects that are being talked about, thats it. On top of that they are about to lose their Franchise GT to retirement. Buffalo has all the guys I listed PLUS Larsson, Hackett, Hodgson who darcy traded for.

Comparing NJ this season to Buffalo this season is like comparing which bed in a rent by the hour motel has fewer bedbugs.

Journalism is dead. Between the dumbing down of our education system, our reliance on texting and Twitter and our overall notorious American laziness, journalistic integrity is a dying breed. It's bad enough when you can't understand kids when they talk because they sound like they're reading from Twitter, and you can't understand what they write because everything is abbreviations; then you have the adults who are stooping down to that level. When I read a newspaper article or listen to network anchors it amazes me who ridiculous they sound. The words 'epic', 'literally' and 'amazing' probably accounts for 1/3 of their vocabulary. Some days when I'm not in the best of moods I'll turn the channel when I hear these imbeciles trying to speak, only to get to another channel that is just as bad. By the time the night is up, I'll have nothing else to watch because I've skipped through it all.

But, I digress. Rant off.

That's ok. Good rant and I agree.

Oh ome on. Everyone has been there 4 or 5 times. Right?........... right?........ right?

Happy 33rd B-day to Ryan Miller.

Now I bet teams will be looking for 32 year olds on the trade market. Just our luck, shucks.

If that's what I think it is its dumb. They've done better. The schtick is old.

First time I've seen it. Pretty good and current based on "he sold his house". May be a retread, but I liked it.

Unless the Devils have injury problems their goaltending and defense should earn them at least a wildcard playoff spot.

I'm starting to think that Ryan Miller is about to sign a new 7 year 49 million dollar contract with us. Well that or go to free agency. I'm pretty sure that's the deal to stay here. Seems like something TPegs might do to keep THE GUY here no?

Oh p.s. he's winning Olympic Gold next year. And a cup at some point in his career. Sound familiar? This time we keep the guy and he wins the cup foe Buffalo.

Go Terry?

We'd regret that deal quickly. Paying him seven mill until he's 40? No thanks... Especially considering that he's been average/below average for over a year now.

I would totally disagree with this deal. That's why I think something stupid like that is about to happen.

I honestly believe that Miller will be on fire this year from the start on. Why? It is Olympic year, so he will be in Vezina form again and this forum will swear why he destroys our chances for a top 5 ticket in the draft.

He will secure us the eigth playoff spot ( of course we get kicked out in round 1) and then walks away for nothing into UFA, while winning the Vezina for the second time.

So you are saying Miller is only a really good goalie when it is an Olympic year and the rest of the time in between Olympic years he is only average. Yeah, not a guy I want on my team if he is only going to show up during Olympic years!

So you are saying the mentality and the physical tools are there but he isn't willing to use them unless it's an Olympic year. No thanks, give me a different guy. This ship has sailed as far as i'm concerned. Enroth needs to be the #1 no questions asked.

no goalie can put up venizia numbers playing behind the Sabres defense .. So you can trade all the Enroth vs Miller posts you like , It does not really matter.

Miller is an established starting goaltender in the NHL. Enroth is not. Miller starts as long as he is here and healthy. Enoth is the backup. Fact of life.

Does anybody know how many starting goaltenders in the NHL are the same size or smaller than Enroth? It is hard enough to get a chance to play in the NHL for a starting goaltender especially if you are a gifted net minder under 6 feet tall.. It takes a great deal of luck and skill to get where Enroth is now.. I hope that when he gets his chance it is not squandered by playing behind a Sabres quality defense.

The number one killer of NHL quality goalteners, career path wise, is bad defense.

Is it though? Enroth has outperformed Miller the past 2 season, and oh yeah it was behind that same horrible defense. Fact of life! Get over yourself, Miller is not all that and never has been, except for 1 Olympic motivated year. No different than a dude showing up only on contract years, D Stafford comes to mind, who still wants him on the team? Not me, enough with the Miller experiment, it didn't work time to move on.

I am convinced that the "Miller Is Average" debate will still be raging on 10 years after he's gone.
