IKnowPhysics Posted September 13, 2013 Report Posted September 13, 2013 Not sure Ted micromanages the ###### out of everything. Probably not.
spndnchz Posted September 13, 2013 Report Posted September 13, 2013 So, the ticket office and the Sabres Store are getting new signs down here. Why aren't these people working on the 2014 draft? We've got time for signs? Signs! Ahhhhh! Signs!
IKnowPhysics Posted September 13, 2013 Report Posted September 13, 2013 Did it still have the slug sign last year? I don't remember; last home game I could get to was Christmas of '11.
spndnchz Posted September 14, 2013 Report Posted September 14, 2013 Did it still have the slug sign last year? I don't remember; last home game I could get to was Christmas of '11. Pretty sure it was still black and red.
carpandean Posted September 14, 2013 Report Posted September 14, 2013 Even signs are sponsored now?
Stoner Posted September 14, 2013 Report Posted September 14, 2013 Even signs are sponsored now? It really is incredible, isn't it?
spndnchz Posted September 14, 2013 Report Posted September 14, 2013 Even signs are sponsored now? HRR. It's why the cap has gone up so fast. The whole reason for the lockout. The owners couldn't keep their legs moving fast enough for their bodies.
Ghost of Dwight Drane Posted September 14, 2013 Report Posted September 14, 2013 Even signs are sponsored now? I want to sponsor the 1st stall in from the left, in the men's room in front of section 304.
nobody Posted September 14, 2013 Report Posted September 14, 2013 I want to sponsor the 1st stall in from the left, in the men's room in front of section 304. Don't forget that the cup holder has a separate sponsorship deal.

The owners couldn't keep their legs moving fast enough for their bodies. Can you flesh this out for those of us who don't normally care about the business side of things? Are you saying the Sabres are obligated to max out signage revenue with abortions such as "Sabres Store presented by Reebok brought to you by Wegman's"? I know the Sabres have to keep pace with average league growth in revenues to get that welfare check from the NHL. What if they had an owner who didn't care about money and wanted to tone down the avalanche of advertising messages in his arena? Could he leave that revenue on the table? Would he be a league outcast?

Weave Posted September 14, 2013 Report Posted September 14, 2013 I wonder if that isn't a league wide deal with Reebok. That was my thought as well.
TrueBlueGED Posted September 14, 2013 Report Posted September 14, 2013 Even signs are sponsored now? ETA on American jerseys becoming like the Euro leagues? Is within 10 years after the next CBA realistic?
JJFIVEOH Posted September 14, 2013 Report Posted September 14, 2013 I want to sponsor the 1st stall in from the left, in the men's room in front of section 304. You laugh, they used to have sponsors decals in the urinals at the BB&T Center. For a couple of years it really got out of hand here, I think they had enough complaints that they finally toned it down a lot. But, I digress
Hoss Posted September 14, 2013 Author Report Posted September 14, 2013 The head marketing guy is sitting at the table on draft day and deadline day, and speaks on hockey matters on the radio, just so you know. In Terry's East Hockey Resources management structure, there isn't the separation of powers that some here seem to envision. Ted weighs in on Leino, Ted weighs in on the Buffalo script. Maybe Ted just sucks. While I don't really like Ted, he isn't in the marketing department... He might have had some slight say in this matter, but it didn't take up any of his time.
Andrew Amerk Posted September 15, 2013 Report Posted September 15, 2013 The new third jerseys still suck.
Eleven Posted September 15, 2013 Report Posted September 15, 2013 The question to Ted Black should be, "why is this franchise wasting time on yet another third jesery?" Is this third jesrsey "respected around the league?" Does this third jersey "work out with Gary Roberts?" I wish this franchise would spend less time on bells and whistles and focus entirely on the product on the ice. Not again. It's not the same people. They have different people who work on sweaters, who work on construction, who work on concessions, and who work on hockey.

I honestly wonder sometimes if some here have any experience in a hierarchical work structure. Just because somebody is technically above somebody else, doesn't mean they have their hands on absolutely everything.
shrader Posted September 15, 2013 Report Posted September 15, 2013 I honestly wonder sometimes if some here have any experience in a hierarchical work structure. Just because somebody is technically above somebody else, doesn't mean they have their hands on absolutely everything. Every single employee works on every single project. It's like that everywhere

Just because somebody is technically above somebody else, doesn't mean they have their hands on absolutely everything. Ted admits to wandering into Darcy's interview with Ron (for the Amerks job) while looking for snacks for Terry. Ted ended up sitting down and joining in. What does that tell you, if anything? Also, both Ted and Terry have boasted about the flat management structure of the front office. Beyond that, it's hard to believe the team president didn't approve the jersey, given the implications for public relations, marketing, branding and sales.

Stoner Posted September 15, 2013 Report Posted September 15, 2013 That Terry likes his snacks. If they were Doritos, things would start to make a little more sense.
MattPie Posted September 16, 2013 Report Posted September 16, 2013 Sign, sign, everywhere a sign Blockin' out the scenery, breakin' my mind

There's Knights Apparel, Old Time Hockey and Sogo. Interesting you bring up Wegmans. Walk into one and they're mostly the same right? Same layout and such? Check another teams website lately? Same layout, etc. it make a uniformity for the fan and for the team to show "Unified Report of Operations" for HRR purposes.
