PotentPowerPlay22 Posted September 5, 2013 Report Posted September 5, 2013 Who designs this crap? Somebody needs to be fired for incompetence!
LGR4GM Posted September 5, 2013 Report Posted September 5, 2013 Let us all look on the bright side! For the first time in months we as fans on Sabrespace are all united together against this... well I won't call it a jersey but this abomination.
That Aud Smell Posted September 5, 2013 Report Posted September 5, 2013 well, as much as i don't like the new 3rds, i will stop short of using that word. to me, the new 3rds aren't even close to being worthy of the team's true sweater/uniform tradition. but i wouldn't call them a desecration of that tradition -- they just fall far short of measuring up. there needs to be something willful or intentional in order for one thing to be a desecration of something else that is holy/sanctified. the LQ slug approached desecratory (?) status, but even that was just a terribly bungled effort.

The correct logo on this gray-accented monstrosity is good enough for me to label it desecration. I want that logo off of that jersey right now. Put the slug back on it. It's slugworthy at best.

SwampD Posted September 5, 2013 Report Posted September 5, 2013 I still like it. And it matches the pads in your avitar.
darksabre Posted September 5, 2013 Report Posted September 5, 2013 I still like it. I guess I'll just ask. Why do you like it? Put the Goathead on there and it would be pretty sharp. Possibly. But I can't get over how bad the gray numbers look. I understand that juxtaposition is fun, but that isn't being accomplished here.
Claude_Verret Posted September 5, 2013 Report Posted September 5, 2013 It will be interesting to see how these sell. They aren't as bad as the slugs, but the slug was the only uniform for a Stanley Cup contending team so I understand why that was such a big seller despite being awful. At least they mostly fixed the regular uniforms and don't appear to want to mess with them anymore. So much wasted potential with these unis though.
spndnchz Posted September 5, 2013 Report Posted September 5, 2013 I guess I'll just ask. Why do you like it? Not that I'm buying one but it reminds me of a warriors cloak or something. A bit medieval... or something.
Iron Crotch Posted September 5, 2013 Report Posted September 5, 2013 I'd take the Canucks "flying V" over this new Sabres jersey.
Ghost of Dwight Drane Posted September 5, 2013 Report Posted September 5, 2013 This has been the best part of the offseason. No wonder we didn't draft Curtis Lazar. The kid is colorblind and would be confused as all getout. It will be interesting to see how Millsie handles playing in these if he's still around. Great stuff.
thebandit27 Posted September 5, 2013 Report Posted September 5, 2013 NOT good...I mean, really, really not good.

Good eye, gold; bad eye, blue.

vasabresfan Posted September 5, 2013 Report Posted September 5, 2013 I suspect most of us would be willing to accept that yellow version from back in July now! http://www.icethetics.info/blog/2013/7/11/prepare-for-a-gold-sabres-sweater.html What a disappointment. At least they won't wear them too often. It's even more disappointing because they got it right (in my opinion) the last time they did a third. The script was tasteful, the off-white on the numbers were sentimental, and it harkened back to the (Bisons/Pepsi) history of the team. It was classy. This just looks desperate. If they wanted a yellow third, they should have re-made the last one in yellow, maybe with blue stripes at the bottom. In fact, if any computer graphics expert has the ability to make that, I sure would like to see that jersey in yellow. I could be wrong, but I bet it would look pretty cool. This... well... hopefully it will last one year and we never see it or speak of it again. Hard to imagine the Sabres Marketing Department leaning back in the meeting room this morning saying "Nailed It! Congratulations everyone! Now let's wait for those orders to start rolling in..."
darksabre Posted September 5, 2013 Report Posted September 5, 2013 I'd take the Canucks "flying V" over this new Sabres jersey. Those Canucks jerseys are unfairly criticised in my opinion. They're a clever idea and they're simple. Sure they're...different, but in a cool way. They're ugly, but that's what makes them great.
theesir Posted September 5, 2013 Report Posted September 5, 2013 I'm hearing rumors that this jersey is the reason Jarious Byrd wants to be traded. Thanks Sabres!!! :wallbash:
CallawaySabres Posted September 5, 2013 Report Posted September 5, 2013 Not that I'm buying one but it reminds me of a warriors cloak or something. A bit medieval... or something. I would like to go medieval on the person who created this piece of crap.
billsrcursed Posted September 5, 2013 Report Posted September 5, 2013 Who designs this crap? Somebody needs to be fired for incompetence! What scares me is the AMOUNT of people that laid eyes on this thing and said, "Let's do it!". I wasn't AS harsh on the slug as others, but this jersey is just really bad. It's like a puzzle, that's missing pieces, that some 5 year old decided would still work if you jam the remaining pieces together hard enough.

That's why I immediately thought it was some kind of prank by the team (and held out a glimmer of hope that was the case, until I saw the presentation of it on sabres.com). The disparate elements really reeks of Terry's flat management structure. "Hey, we're trying to build up Buffalo, so let's put BUFFALO above the logo," said Cliff Benson. "I wore ascots in college," piped in Terrence Pegula. "I love a man in a cape," demurred Kim Pegula.
