Would he really ask the twins to go into a shell and be blocking shots left and right?

Would he really ask the twins to go into a shell and be blocking shots left and right? I don't think Torts needs to play that way, I think he chose to play that way based on the D in NY. He certainly didn't coach players to block everything during his days in Tampa.

chileanseabass Posted June 11, 2013 Report Posted June 11, 2013 Was Torts that extreme going back to his TBL days with Vinny, St. Louis, and Richards? Not at all. He also wasn't as big of a jerk with the media.

Personally I think Torts is better suited to a small market club or at least one that is out of the media spotlight. Tampa was a perfect fit for him, but he wore thin on his players. He and Lecavalier never saw eye-to-eye, and there were rumblings St. Louis got sick of him as well. He'd probably be a great fit for Dallas. I'm not so sure about Vancouver. Regardless, he's a good coach who can get a lot out of his team, but unfortunately he has a short shelf life because of how he is.

Hence my theory on why it will be a comedy of errors if Lindy ends up in NY. Although I must say....Lindy was at a dinner last night and he looked good. Put on some lbs....tan....relaxed like the Lindy we knew and loved a decade+ ago...... If he gets the right job he could do just fine. In NY I am afraid he will have Del Zotto in the pressbox game 1 and Nash will commit suicide.

I don't think Lindy will have much trouble in New York with the media. He's a heck of a lot funnier than Torts, and candid without being mean-spirited. I really think he'll play well there should he get hired.
