A guy from the outside with head coaching experience? More of exactly what we wanted? right?

Some of us. I took a bit of flak for criticizing Lindy's inexperienced staff.

Some PP/PK numbers

2009-2010

PP was 15th in league at 18% Sabres were 13th

PK was 21st in league at 80% Sabres were #2

2010-2011

PP was 11th in league at 18.5% Sabres were 9th

PK was 30th in league at 76% Sabres were 13th

2011-12

PP was 9th in league at 18.4% Sabres were 16th

PK was 12th in league at 83% Sabres were 19th

Disclaimer: Not sure if he was in charge of PP/PK

Well sure but to be fair, did we ever utilize a five forward PP unit? Cause Joe Baby sure did! :wallbash: So Enroth can expect heavy doses of what Miller got when we are on the PP  :w00t:

Not going to come and say Sacco is the greatest hire in the world, but my expectations weren't very high, and quiet frankly, i think Sacco is a more qualified guy then i would of thought Rolston and Darcy would be able to bring in.

Don't worry....if it wasn't mentioned in the past fortnight, nobody has a clue. If we handed out Brand Names Dollars for every West Side cutlery swing at You, DeLuca, and myself, we could purchase 80% of the catalog.....

You took flak were engaged in debate for insisting that Cup winners had assistant coaches with head coaching experience and that was a necessary requisite for winning the Cup.

I'll cut you, meng.

I believe they were both assistants on one of the US teams. My guess is that it would be hard to work for the same team and not know each other. Somebody has their stories mixed up.

Their tenures did not overlap.

Still, the fact that they didn't know each other prior is not a sign of anything to be worried about. If he picked a crony, we'd be all over his case for continuing the inbreeding around here.

That's a gross misexaggerica-she-own. Seriously. You're way off. But shall we not rehash it? Can we agree Joe Sacco is a nice upgrade from Kevyn Adams?

Just kidding. Sacco brings different tools and more experience than Adams, but in my mind, it's hard to compare assistant coaches. Sacco's likely a better teacher, but maybe Adams was better at motivating or conditioning expertise...? How do you judge that with certainty?

But in any case, Sacco had success developing kids at USNTDP and he was an Adams finalist. That's probably more useful for the Sabres right now than the salty ex-player.

Interesting, today's article mentions that Rolston initially had three candidates in mind, but they turned him down. One was supposed to have been Newell Brown, former powerplay expert for Vancouver (who, upon being let go with Alan Vigntewultfds, criticized roster issues: http://www.vancouversun.com/sports/Canucks+didn+have+right+stuff+power+play+ousted+coach/8427083/story.html).

Would he have been better or worse?

No point in a power play expert without the personnel to run a power play.

Sacco's record over the last 3 seasons: 87-104-21

Rolston said Tuesday in First Niagara Center.

“He’d worked for Colorado that had a lot of young players in a similar situation in terms of building and developing and teaching. He was excited about that here, to be able to come in and really put his stamp on things. That was important. I think it’ll be a great fit.”
