tom webster Posted April 22, 2013 Report Posted April 22, 2013 Here's hoping that changes will start soon. Feel free to include front office additions/ substractions. For those of you who may be new, just list your expected off season changes. The poster I deem to be closest to correct wins a couple of prime tickets to a game next year. Only one entry please.

I have been told this was missed over the weekend. Free's thread is similiar but like he said, changes could start soon so here it is again.
Sabres Fan in NS Posted April 23, 2013 Report Posted April 23, 2013 Ryan Miller will be traded either at, or just prior to, the 2013 entry draft.
TrueBlueGED Posted April 23, 2013 Report Posted April 23, 2013 Darcy stays, but goes with a coach other than Rolston. Vanek and Miller are each traded before the season. The return is along the lines of a good prospect, an NHL-ready top-6 prospect or young NHL forward, and a 1st round pick. Salary is retained in each deal. Bottom-6 retooled a bit with a legit checking line center and new energy guys for the 4th line. Stafford traded at the draft for a 2nd and 4th. Leino NOT bought out.
plenzmd1 Posted April 23, 2013 Report Posted April 23, 2013 Darcy is not fired sometime in May, but is moved into a different role where both he and TPEGS save face. But he will no longer have control of player personel decisions. Lavy is hired sometime before the draft. Miller is traded, and everyone is aghast at how little we get for him. Vanek gets a 7 year deal at average cap hit of $6.8 million. Stafford is traded for a 2nd, and the Sabres eat $1M of his salary per year. Leino not bought out. We package some form of picks to get another 1 st rounder .
LGR4GM Posted April 23, 2013 Report Posted April 23, 2013 Darcy is kept We hire a new head coach and RR goes back to Rochester Miller does end up being traded, return of 1st, 2nd next year, and a top prospect Vanek does not resign during the summer Ott is resigned for 4 more years Stafford is dealt at the draft for 2nd and a 4th Leino stays We target 1 higher end UFA and do in fact acquire him. It will be someone who can play RW We draft 7/8th overall and take Sean Monahan we use a 2nd round pick and package that with the Minn. pick to move up into the low teens
X. Benedict Posted April 23, 2013 Report Posted April 23, 2013 Ryan Miller traded. A pick and a prospect coming back. Darcy Regier will be moved to a senior advisory position, and Jason Botterill hired as GM. Rolston, Patrick, Adams all released. Corsi and Teppo will stay. Dave Tippet will be hired as coach in July when Phoenix contract expires. No buyouts. No contracts for Pardy, Hecht. Enroth and Weber sign 2 year deals. Sabres sign Stephen Wiess as UFA. Vanek not traded, not extended by start of season either. Sabres draft Lindholm C and Robert Hagg D in first round....two Swedes.
Grumpy Posted April 23, 2013 Report Posted April 23, 2013 A huge thank you to Rolston and back to AHL with the public line that he did us a favor and fell on a sword for the team.(Which is true.) Fire all the rest of the staff because they were old boy network hires with no previous coaching experience. Corsi is the exception, but bye-bye! Miller leaves after he requests trade in mtg. with GM and owner. He wants to win and move to western conference. Vanek returns, plays out his contract. Tells GM he wants to stay as Drury did. Uses us to increase his contract offer from Rangers on last day before free agency and moves on to Rangers. Fans love Vanek because his agent comes out and says he would have signed for 25 million over 5 years and states the Sabres retracted the offer. Sabres show class, and don't dispute the agent's version of the truth. Gerbe, who really is a wonderful person with a huge heart, is named Rochester captain and sets AHL Rochester scoring records. He receives occasional call ups over next 7 years, but can't stay on the big club as he's just too small. Ott plays his heart out, but doesn't resign before trade deadline. Continues to spend his last season defending the much bigger Ehrhoff. Regier also loses him for nothing. Hecht moves on, because it's time. In January, Sabres' ownership states Regier is a genius despite teams's 5-30-5 record. Scott takes power skating lessons and improves to second poorest skater in NHL. Who's poorer, I don't know. Averages 2 minutes 26 seconds of ice time per game. (Sorry Tom, for using your thread to vent in, but it was fun and full of sarcasm!)
Tom Backyard Posted April 24, 2013 Report Posted April 24, 2013 Sulzer not re-signed Neither is Pardy We find out Foligno has been playing with an injury Miller is traded Regier stays
thesportsbuff Posted April 25, 2013 Report Posted April 25, 2013 Regier stays on as General Manager. Ron Rolston is let go & finds a job elsewhere in NHL/AHL (I don't think they simply 'send him back to Rochester'). The Sabres hire a NHL-level coach. (I don't want to get any more specific than that because I have no idea who, but I don't think it will be a AHL coach getting his first shot, or a Patrick Roy going straight from coaching kids to the NHL.) Thomas Vanek is extended for 3-5 years. Ryan Miller is traded for a Top 10 pick & a young forward/prospect. Leino is NOT bought out. The Sabres sign Nathan Horton in Unrestricted Free Agency. Buffalo parlays Minnesota's first rounder in a package with other assets to move into the Top 10.

If Darcy pulls that off I'll have no problem with him staying on at least another year.
thesportsbuff Posted April 25, 2013 Report Posted April 25, 2013 3 top 10 picks this Spring? If Darcy pulls that off I'll have no problem with him staying on at least another year. Buffalo's own pick isn't assured to be a Top 10 just yet, though. Also those scenarios aren't mutually exclusive -- If Miller is packaged with Minnesota's 1st for a Top 5 pick and prospect, two points for me! But no you're right, it's unlikely we'll wind up with 3 picks in the Top 12 or so, but I'm not going 100% for accuracy --both probably won't happen, but maybe one will.
WildCard Posted April 25, 2013 Report Posted April 25, 2013 (Swigs beer, cracks knuckles) Darcy stays, but Rolston is removed for a new head coach and goes to a new franchise Marlies head coach (Eatkins it's spelled I think) is hired Trade Ryan Miller to the Islanders who, after shedding Tomas and Nabokov, can give him an extension. Miller is not the only player to go to the Islanders in this trade, involves a solid d-man from us (Sekera perhaps?) and picks/prospects and a forward from them. Another team tries to sign Hodgson to an offer sheet, we end up having to shell out 3.5-4m/year We do not trade Tomas Vanek, but he will not resign in the summer We resign Sulzer Pardy let go Resign Weber Resign Jhonas (and his paddle) John Scott's let go Ott's resigned for a mutli-year contract Leino is kept Stafford is dealt for about what we all assume (a 2nd and a later pick) Hecht is let go Flyn is kept Armia goes to Rochester, both him and Grigorenko spend time in the NHL next season (Grigs more so) And we package our Minnesota pick and a 2nd to move up in the first BTW this is a sweet idea; love the challenge and the incentive makes it that much harder/creative. Well done and thanks
dudacek Posted April 25, 2013 Report Posted April 25, 2013 What I foresee as most likely to happen: Gone: Stafford, Gerbe, Pardy, Sulzer, Hecht, Adam Resigned: John Scott, Steve Ott and all the significant RFAs Bought out: no one Kept: Regier, Rolston Kept, but not resigned: Vanek Kids penciled in to contribute: Pysyk, McNabb and two of Armia, Larsson, Flynn and Grigorenko (I pick the middle two) Traded: some of their surplus picks and Ryan Miller - as part of a package to move up in the draft to/or acquire a scoring forward. I see them really pushing for McKinnon as their ideal, a young scoring forward with heart and speed, but I doubt they can find a partner Drafted: (if they keep their pick) Hunter Shinkaruk Signed: a veteran defenceman who can play on the second pair, a useful forward to plug a hole created up front by our other moves, and - since this prediction has been too conventional so far - Luongo
tom webster Posted April 27, 2013 Author Report Posted April 27, 2013 Time for my predictions; Darcy is "promoted", Pat Lafontaine joins the organization and Jim Benning is named GM Vanek and Miller are resigned Bozak and Elias are brought in as free agents Enroth is packaged and moved at draft ........................................................ I again come in last place in my own contest
deluca67 Posted April 27, 2013 Report Posted April 27, 2013 Time for my predictions; Darcy is "promoted", Pat Lafontaine joins the organization and Jim Benning is named GM Vanek and Miller are resigned Bozak and Elias are brought in as free agents Enroth is packaged and moved at draft ........................................................ I again come in last place in my own contest From your post to Pegula's eyes. The Sabres sign David Clarkson making he and Steve Ott the first two members of the New Core. The Sabres decide they can keep only one between Miller and Vanek. They chose to keep Vanek and trade Miller at the draft. The Sabres make numerous offers to Vanek who declines to make a decision before he hits free agency. The Sabres get spooked and trade Vanek at the trade deadline in desperation. The Sabres forget to re-sign Enroth before trading Miller and are "caught off guard" when Enroth decides to play in the KHL for more money in 2013-14. Cody Hodgson gets a new contract that makes the Drew Stafford contract look like a bargain. The Sabres buyout Ville Leino. The Sabres try but are unable to trade Drew Stafford. Tyler Myers retires, he decides to follow his one true passion, interpretive dance.
Two or less Posted April 28, 2013 Report Posted April 28, 2013 -Darcy Regier stays. -Ron Rolston replaced with Craig Ramsay. -Thomas Vanek remains on the team -Ryan Miller traded -Drew Stafford traded -Andrej Sekera traded -John Scott re-signed -Alex Sulzer gone -Adam Pardy re-signed -Grant Clitsome and Brad Richardson free agent signings. -We select Darnell Nurse and Frederik Gauthier in first round
Ghost of Dwight Drane Posted April 28, 2013 Report Posted April 28, 2013 Ted Black uses an ethnic slur on GR and causes quite the mess Cody Hodgson has a private workout program over the summer and tears a hamstring....missing the start of the season. Vanek gives an interview in Europe that makes the fans turn on him. Instead of spending time with the Navy SEALS, the Sabres prospects climb Mt. Kilamanjaro with Ed Kilgore Pat Kaleta gets arrested at Mickey Rats on the beach Rene Robert turns on ownership and asks, "Would you trust me drilling a gas well?" A sinkhole swallows up 29 construction workers at the Webster Block site First Niagara gets shut down by the FDIC and naming rights auction leads to New Era Arena
Weave Posted April 28, 2013 Report Posted April 28, 2013 Miller gets traded on draft day Vanek is re-signed Stafford is still a Sabre on opening day of the 13-14 season 3 rookies will make the opening day roster Rolston starts the season as Sabres head coach John Scott is re-signed Sabres sign UFA RW Nathan Horton
deluca67 Posted April 28, 2013 Report Posted April 28, 2013 Ted Black uses an ethnic slur on GR and causes quite the mess His defense will be it's OK since he is "Black." :w00t:
Ross Rhea Posted April 28, 2013 Report Posted April 28, 2013 Darcy is fired Miller is traded at or before the draft Vanek is made captain and signs a new 5 year contract Rick Jenneratte retires this summer

I again come in last place in my own contest Yes, but you win tickets to 40 home games, 3 pre-season and a bonus Amerks game in Buffalo. But, as a ticket holder, you have to pay for all of that. Sorry!!!!!

Huckleberry Posted May 14, 2013 Report Posted May 14, 2013 at draft Nashville wants a top end forward now, i can see us trading thomas vanek for that #4 pick (monahan or drouin) + hornqvist , and doubt much more will be added to that, if vanek indicates he won't resign. During summer Miller will show increased frustration on a trade taking so long, but by the end of september he'll go to Colorado for erik johnson , jamie mcginn + 2014 2nd round pick.
