SwampD Posted April 24, 2013 Report Posted April 24, 2013 I did not say the bolded item. Not even close. As for killing the beast in its lair -- I did say that, and I believe it. But I think it should be pretty clear that "the beast" is not the same as "all Muslims." I think I have been pretty consistent in differentiating between militant Islamists -- who are the enemy -- and all Muslims. I also think you ought to read carefully and assimilate what I or anyone else here actually says before you make the kind of accusation you made. Nonsense. teehee.
Sabres Fan in NS Posted April 24, 2013 Report Posted April 24, 2013 The whole enemy combatant issue is pretty interesting, IMHO. We are here squarely faced with the question of whether a US citizen can be categorized as such. I seem to remember something about a US Citizen who went over to fight with the Taliban. He was captured by US forces and was treated as an enemy combatant. Well, I guess that is not exactly the same thing.
Weave Posted April 24, 2013 Report Posted April 24, 2013 If that's the way the search was conducted, I have a problem with a lot of that.
Weave Posted April 24, 2013 Report Posted April 24, 2013 Holy ######. And the citizens were cheering them for that behavior. Pro tip: If you are pointing a weapon at me, you are not rescuing me. And Bloomberg wants to ignore the Constitution to "combat" the menace of terrorism. http://politicker.com/2013/04/bloomberg-says-post-boston-interpretation-of-the-constitution-will-have-to-change/ In the wake of the Boston Marathon bombings, Mayor Michael Bloomberg said Monday the country’s interpretation of the Constitution will “have to change” to allow for greater security to stave off future attacks. “The people who are worried about privacy have a legitimate worry,” Mr. Bloomberg said during a press conference in Midtown. “But we live in a complex world where you’re going to have to have a level of security greater than you did back in the olden days, if you will. And our laws and our interpretation of the Constitution, I think, have to change.” The Mayor's cure is much worse than the disease. I don't know about y'all but I feel much safer since our liberties have been trampled over in the name of security.

darksabre Posted April 24, 2013 Report Posted April 24, 2013 Bloomberg is without a doubt the biggest jabroni in the state right now.

Only the 1st 2 lines were there when I quoted this post above.

Only the 1st 2 lines were there when I quoted this post above. I don't know. It changed the time of my post instead of adding an edited by tag. edit - I know how! I didn't use the edit feature. I added a new post and it combined the two posts and changed the post timestamp instead. Bloomberg is without a doubt the biggest jabroni threat to our personal liberties in the state country right now. Fixed! :P
TrueBlueGED Posted April 24, 2013 Report Posted April 24, 2013 Fixed! :P ALL FEAR THE CITY MAYORS LEAVING OFFICE! :P ;)
Ghost of Dwight Drane Posted April 25, 2013 Report Posted April 25, 2013 So you are saying that 10,000 confirmed police officers, federal officers, and military were needed to search house to house.....for one solitary 19 year old, who was not affiliated with any outside cause.....and used 80 dollars worth of crockpots, fireworks, and scrap metal............and an entire city was locked down for 24 hours......yet it took a member of the public going out for a smoke to actually find the guy? Hummnnnnn........interesting series of events that took place. Yet here in this thread we have quality people......which I would vouch for in intelligence and reasoning......beating the crap out of each other....and the whole time an incident here and an incident there is used to take away huge hunks of what used to make this place an amazing structure to live in. And they get away with it because the people that SHOULD be trusting each other and working together to keep an eye out on those that have uneven distribution of power......are too busy bickering over symantics. This is why I drink.......well, at least 1 of 7 reasons......
LastPommerFan Posted April 25, 2013 Report Posted April 25, 2013 ALL FEAR THE CITY MAYORS LEAVING OFFICE! :P ;) he will then only hold the office of Billionaire. Which, according to the Constitution, falls somewhere between the president and god in the hierarchy. Miller30 Posted April 25, 2013 Report Posted April 25, 2013 http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=2LrbsUVSVl8#! Forth amendment thrown out the window, I'm sure the Patriot Act was used as justification. How things progressed in Boston was as close to marshal law as I ever want to see on US soil ever again. The lockdown or whatever they called it, military like house to house searches and citizens be treated like hostile combatants. Assault weapons being trained on innocent citizens, not only as they were forced out of their homes but also as they were directed down the street. They knew at that point that those citizens weren't who they were looking for. When it was reported that the Army was "assisting" in Boston initially I honestly was worried what was happening. The first thing that entered my mind was why are US combat troops being deployed on US soil for a police action. My 25 yr old son and I had a pretty heated discussion he didn't see anything wrong with it and I did big time. I told him to google the Posse Comitatus Act. I was relieved to find out it was the Mass. National Guard and not the US Army.

Those that sacrifice to much freedom for security deserve neither.........Thomas Jefferson
TrueBlueGED Posted April 25, 2013 Report Posted April 25, 2013 I can only hope he sticks to just the office of billionaire. The cynic in me sees him running for and winning a position of national influence. I'd be really surprised. Schumer and Gillibrand have NY Senate seats on lockdown. Maybe he runs for president and has mild success a la Perot, but no F'n way either major party hitches their wagon to his candidacy, and without that he's not winning. Maybe a House seat? I'm honestly not familiar with which seats may be vulnerable in 2014-16, but even if he runs and wins, he'll be dead by the time he has any real influence in the House.
LastPommerFan Posted April 25, 2013 Report Posted April 25, 2013 Amen Brother!.... we can't react like that again. it was way too easy to shut down an American city. They could do it every week. ... Posted April 25, 2013 Report Posted April 25, 2013 i don't care what the original context was. It fits exactly right now. What happened Friday was nuts. Since WWII we have collectively given up pieces of liberty for security which, little by little, has culminated in what's going on now. Our original liberties are what made this country the rocking power house that it once was, and are also the reason it is turning into a Euro Whimpsicle.
