Jsixspd Posted April 5, 2013 Report Posted April 5, 2013 Regehr had a great game - +2, and a solid presence on the ice - great debut for Robyn. Pompomstein - not quite so auspicious - lmao!!!!! At least he was only -1, it could have been a lot worse - just ask any Buffalo fan. :) One final note on the trade - on the positive side at least we will NEVER have to hear Rick Jeanneret shout out - "The population in Pominville just went up by 1!!!" when he scores a goal. That falls upon the Wild announcers now.
spndnchz Posted April 5, 2013 Author Report Posted April 5, 2013 According to the Wild beat reporter Michael Russo, the Sabres are picking up $225K of Pominville's salary this season and $900K next. Called it! http://forums.sabrespace.com/topic/21682-trade-activity-between-now-and-the-deadline/page__st__1560#entry469104
26CornerBlitz Posted April 5, 2013 Report Posted April 5, 2013 Called it! http://forums.sabres...560#entry469104 And a good call it was. Kudos.
LastPommerFan Posted April 5, 2013 Report Posted April 5, 2013 Is this an example of the benefit of Terry's money?
Stoner Posted April 5, 2013 Report Posted April 5, 2013 Is this an example of the benefit of Terry's money? Are there others?
LastPommerFan Posted April 5, 2013 Report Posted April 5, 2013 Are there others? I don't think so, but as has been pointed out we will be no where near the cap next year, and we can probably get way sexier trades for Vanek and Miller if we keep half their salary.
wonderbread Posted April 5, 2013 Report Posted April 5, 2013 Are there others? Picking up Kotalik's money to get Regehr.
LastPommerFan Posted April 5, 2013 Report Posted April 5, 2013 Ehrhoff. Picking up Kotalik's money to get Regehr. It's best not to feed them.
MattPie Posted April 5, 2013 Report Posted April 5, 2013 Buffalonian Wings? Too fatty and bitter.
inkman Posted April 5, 2013 Report Posted April 5, 2013 Too fatty and bitter. With a hint of sour grapes

nfreeman Posted April 5, 2013 Report Posted April 5, 2013 OK, so a bit of google, which is by no means conclusive or comprehensive, informs me that the last Swedish forward on the Sabres was Bo Mikael Andersson, who was a #1 pick and pretty much of a washout. I like what I read about Larsson. I'm going to predict that he is going to be the first good Swedish Sabres forward, a good #3/#2 center, a good leader, and a key part of the new core. He can also assemble all of your Ikea furniture and arrange for your "Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" fantasies to be fulfilled. Time to turnen the pagen. Go Sabres.
Derrico Posted April 5, 2013 Report Posted April 5, 2013 Big game between Minni and Columbus on Sunday. A regulation win by Columbus and all of a sudden Minni may start getting worried about missing the playoffs. As it stands right now they're up five points on both 9th place Edmonton and 10th place Columbus. Just sayin.....
Spun Posted April 5, 2013 Report Posted April 5, 2013 It is interesting that Larsson played for Sweden in the 2011 WJC in Buffalo. The USA beat Sweden for the bronze. All these deals come with a grade of incomplete. Sometimes as in recent Sabres free agent deals, the skills and/or the chemistry of the acquisitions are off. Same thing goes with the draft. However, with expanded scouting since Pegula took over, I expect better results from the draft. With all these draft picks, the Sabres may deal picks to move up especially by exchanging second rounders to move up in the first round.
LastPommerFan Posted April 5, 2013 Report Posted April 5, 2013 Has anyone noted Darcy's comments today, about how Jason probably wouldn't have been traded if he didn't publicly announce that Darcy had requested the "List". From what I can piece together. Minne was on the trail for Staff, until the got a whiff of pommer from that comment.

Robviously Posted April 6, 2013 Report Posted April 6, 2013 2011: Sabres lose Roy, go on a run. 2012: Sabres trade Gaustad, go on a run. 2013: Sabres trade Pominville, go on a run? Groundhog Day.

LastPommerFan Posted April 6, 2013 Report Posted April 6, 2013 So what you're saying is 'dump Stafford after 4 games next year and go on the run MUCH earlier?' ;) Why wait? Get 8.
Robviously Posted April 6, 2013 Report Posted April 6, 2013 So what you're saying is 'dump Stafford after 4 games next year and go on the run MUCH earlier?' ;) Wait, are the Sabres allowed to make trades before the deadline???? I'm going to have to hide the sharp objects in my house if Drew Stafford is still on the roster to start next season. It's like a horror movie where they keep churning out horrible sequels year after year forever.

I'm going to have to hide the sharp objects in my house if Drew Stafford is still on the roster to start next season. It's like a horror movie where they keep churning out horrible sequels year after year forever. Staphford STILL managed to be a -1 tonight - though the rest of the team worked hard. No goals or assists - hard to imagine a guy with his salary adding no contribution to a 4 goal game AND ending up hurting the team (-1) Why Regier didn't get this guy out the door this week is amazing. Regier loves to have his ego stroked with the trades - He can't do 3 or 4 "B" level trades for the sake of IMPROVING the team - no, he's got to focus on one A+ trade where everything goes his way, financially, so everyone can tell him how brilliant he is, what a tough negotiator he is, ad nauseum.

You pegged it. I'm sure that's exactly what he's doing. Brilliant deductive work. No idea why no one else caught this.
