PromoTheRobot Posted April 3, 2013 Report Posted April 3, 2013 I am amazed that Dary says hes done with the trading. If someone comes a calliong ya gotta listen. Not after 3pm. PTR
spndnchz Posted April 3, 2013 Author Report Posted April 3, 2013 I am amazed that Dary says hes done with the trading. If someone comes a calliong ya gotta listen. Trade deadline. Everyone's done for now. Edit: PILE ON!
MattPie Posted April 3, 2013 Report Posted April 3, 2013 I am amazed that Dary says hes done with the trading. If someone comes a calliong ya gotta listen. Well, he did say that *after* the deadline has passed. There was speculation that there was still something being worked, and Regier put the kibosh on those rumors.
dudacek Posted April 3, 2013 Report Posted April 3, 2013 Hockey's future take on the two prospects. Larsson does look intriguing. http://www.hockeysfuture.com/articles/86979/minnesota-wilds-mid-season-top-20-stocked-with-prospects-already-contributing-in-nhl/#more-86979
LabattBlue Posted April 3, 2013 Report Posted April 3, 2013 Long but interesting read. I like the poster who suggested that Myers AND Pominville better be going to the Wild if they are giving up a 1st. http://hfboards.hockeysfuture.com/showthread.php?t=1394397
Robviously Posted April 3, 2013 Report Posted April 3, 2013 Yes we did, and that pick became Girgensons. So Darcy gets #1 picks two years in a row. We're you trying to make some kind of point? PTR Only how silly it is that people celebrate every move he makes while the team loses ground every year. But go on praising him. That Stanley Cup is right around the corner.

OverPowerYou Posted April 3, 2013 Report Posted April 3, 2013 Just think, these 1st round picks we are getting are probably going to be players who are traded for first round picks In 5-10 years after we've won 0 Stanley cups
Derrico Posted April 3, 2013 Report Posted April 3, 2013 Hard to believe this guy was on waivers at one point in his career. He scored one of my favorite goals in Sabres history. I'll miss 'and the population goes up by one'. We did well in this trade to build for the future and the trade was necessary but I'll miss him.

Look who's doing the picking.... the SAME doofus that's managed the team to the bottom of the standings.
Peppy22 Posted April 3, 2013 Report Posted April 3, 2013 Good thing I bought a pommers jersey six weeks ago.
Trettioåtta Posted April 3, 2013 Report Posted April 3, 2013 I'm gonna really miss Pommers - one of my all time favourites in the league. The prospects don't intrigue me all that much Larsson sounds like a solid 3rd line centre, and similar to Girgenson. Hackett was described as one of the best goalie prospects before this season, but has regressed to a back up AHL goalie as the season went on, so i guess he is a wild card. I think this trade is pretty fair (quality for quantity). Pominville was undervalued here, but around pundits/other fans he was highly coveted I personally just don't understand the excitement over picks. Look who's doing the picking.... the SAME doofus that's managed the team to the bottom of the standings. Our recent picks have been pretty good (last 4 drafts) I'm also a little disappointed that this move also means we will be losing Miller and Vanek. As both have said if we go into rebuild they will not resign. So at most we have one season with them. The draft should be interesting - i expect both gone by July 1st

Derrico Posted April 3, 2013 Report Posted April 3, 2013 Long but interesting read. I like the poster who suggested that Myers AND Pominville better be going to the Wild if they are giving up a 1st. http://hfboards.hock...d.php?t=1394397 I'm half way through reading this and I'm starting to really like this trade. Nobody, and I mean nobody on their board wanted Larsson traded it seems. Their fans had some very high praise for his effort and defensive abilities. It's always nice to read the other fan board to gauge their reactions. If anyone has time, it's a nice read. Thanks for posting this.
Kelly the Dog Posted April 3, 2013 Report Posted April 3, 2013 Long but interesting read. I like the poster who suggested that Myers AND Pominville better be going to the Wild if they are giving up a 1st. http://hfboards.hock...d.php?t=1394397 That was a great read. They seem to have some pretty knowledgeable fans on that site, especially about a guy who was only a minor leaguer. I loved the fact that 90% absolutely loved Larsson.

I am convinced Darcy's goal was to acquire assets (prospects and picks) that can be leveraged into front line salary culls this summer. If he acquires a Bobby Ryan type in a summer trade to go along with a few other free agent vets, what's to say he can't convince Ryan and Thomas to re-sign?

If a guy's ceiling is a second line center, they basically treat him like he's automatically Ryan Kesler in his prime. Doesn't mean the comments have no merit, just something to keep in mind while perusing.
Claude_Verret Posted April 3, 2013 Report Posted April 3, 2013 Long but interesting read. I like the poster who suggested that Myers AND Pominville better be going to the Wild if they are giving up a 1st. http://hfboards.hock...d.php?t=1394397 The worst part of this trade is that Eklund was right about us having to give up draft picks.

Wasn't that what a lot of people thought last year having two 1sts and two 2nds? I realize it's different because the cap is dropping and amnesty buyouts, but I don't think it's automatic that we leverage these assets into actual players.
rickshaw Posted April 3, 2013 Report Posted April 3, 2013 4 players for Pommers? Can't complain about this deal at all. Not sure on who the two players are but it's gotta clear cap hits and makes us younger. Good job DR

I really don't get why people love Ryan so much. He puts up less points than Pommers and is not as defensively sound. Reading that HF thing, it appears people like him, but a lot also said his upside is a 3rd lin centre (not surprising). They also couldn't care less about losing Hackett. The two picks seemed to hurt more than the players

26CornerBlitz Posted April 3, 2013 Report Posted April 3, 2013 As stated earlier by Chz: @DaveDavisHockey Regier told @duffersabres that the high draft picks were the centerpiece of the Pominville trade, and that the prospects were added later.
nfreeman Posted April 3, 2013 Report Posted April 3, 2013 My bottom line on the trade: - respectable return for Pommer. Not amazing, but good. - The team won't be any better for having made the trade unless they utilize the cap space and/or picks to bring in a high-end player. - I like what I've read about Larsson. - (BTW, when was the last time the Sabres had a good Swedish forward? I can't think of any.) - Hackett doesn't seem like much beyond a maybe -- certainly not a guy that they would unload Miller in reliance on having Hackett step in to be their starter. - Like the Gaustad trade, this one looks nice on paper/pixels, but I've lost all faith in DR's ability to put together a winning team. So it's hard for me to exult about this. - Pommer was a good player, but overpaid and ill-suited to be a captain. Good supporting player -- not a lead dog. Certainly it can't be argued that the team nose-dived under his captaincy. I'll definitely keep an eye on the Wild in the playoffs this year. - Just so we're clear: Darcy must go.
papazoid Posted April 3, 2013 Report Posted April 3, 2013 Good thing I bought a pommers jersey six weeks ago. better to get a jersey of a player who's jersey has been retired.....
