Claude_Verret Posted April 3, 2013 Report Posted April 3, 2013 I would have liked the trade better if it were ther Sabres 4th in '15 instead. Now that's just fantastic.
chileanseabass Posted April 3, 2013 Report Posted April 3, 2013 if Sabres don't finish with one of the top 4 picks, package both firsts to move up into top 3?
Brawndo Posted April 3, 2013 Report Posted April 3, 2013 Michael Russo @Russostrib 3m First time in #mnwild history it has traded its first
Dannepanne Posted April 3, 2013 Report Posted April 3, 2013 Is Larsson going to the Ahl or is he getting a shot at the big leauge?
shrader Posted April 3, 2013 Report Posted April 3, 2013 if Sabres don't finish with one of the top 4 picks, package both firsts to move up into top 3? And all 3 of the 2014 2nds.
Brawndo Posted April 3, 2013 Report Posted April 3, 2013 Matt Hackett @MattHackett31 3m And can't wait to start this new chapter with the Buffalo Sabres organization !
qwksndmonster Posted April 3, 2013 Report Posted April 3, 2013 Is Larsson going to the Ahl or is he getting a shot at the big leauge? No reason to send him down this season.
SDS Posted April 3, 2013 Report Posted April 3, 2013 Yes. The Bills haven't succeeded with Eric Wood (for example), but if the Bills traded him for a second-string TE, there would be trouble brewing over at Scott's other site. That said, I'm still waiting to hear the total consideration for Pominville on this one. I know the full deal is now complete, but I personally hate the henpecking that goes on with these things. Are there people here who think Darcy turned DOWN better offers? You can only accept what youare offered. Darcy's only decision was to take the best deal offered today vs. waiting for a better deal tomorrow. What you or I or ThirtyEight wants in return is irrelevant. The only thing that matters is the reality of the real offers.
Trettioåtta Posted April 3, 2013 Report Posted April 3, 2013 No reason to send him down this season. To get playing time? My bad - i thought people were talking about Hackett
Eleven Posted April 3, 2013 Report Posted April 3, 2013 No reason to send him down this season. Absolutely right, unless Rochester needs/wants him for a playoff push or something. There's no NHL roster limit anymore, either.
Brawndo Posted April 3, 2013 Report Posted April 3, 2013 Pierre LeBrun @Real_ESPNLeBrun 3m Asked Darcy Regier if he traded Ryan Miller, ``No. We're done,'' he responded via text
Robviously Posted April 3, 2013 Report Posted April 3, 2013 No reason to send him down this season. Yeah, bring him straight to B-Lo. We need guys anyway.
LGR4GM Posted April 3, 2013 Report Posted April 3, 2013 Pierre LeBrun @Real_ESPNLeBrun 3m Asked Darcy Regier if he traded Ryan Miller, ``No. We're done,'' he responded via text yea check the trade deadline thread
thewookie1 Posted April 3, 2013 Report Posted April 3, 2013 Ok, I feel a bit better now. We also got a 1st rounder and a 2nd rounder next year.

Darcy's only decision was to take the best deal offered today vs. waiting for a better deal tomorrow. What you or I or ThirtyEight wants in return is irrelevant. The only thing that matters is the reality of the real offers. Waiting until summer was a possibility and could have brought a more developed player. Moving Pommer was a good idea for the right return, though; I completely agree w/ you on that. Now that it's complete, I'll stand by what I said in the other thread: Not a fleecing and not what I wanted (I wanted the quick turnaround) but this looks like an even deal now.
TrueBlueGED Posted April 3, 2013 Report Posted April 3, 2013 With the picks involved, I'm fine with the deal. It's precisely the type of quantity for quality deal I expected. I still think it signals a long-term rebuild helmed by Regier, but only time will tell on that.
EZBills7 Posted April 3, 2013 Report Posted April 3, 2013 The deal is night and day different with the picks included. Just the two prospects and it would have been a bad deal IMO. With the picks included it is a necessary step in the right direction.
spndnchz Posted April 3, 2013 Author Report Posted April 3, 2013 I wonder who Regier is gonna offer sheet with all these picks.
Trettioåtta Posted April 3, 2013 Report Posted April 3, 2013 Yeah i'm fine with it to - neither side really comes out on top. We now have 3 2014 2nd round picks
cgang Posted April 3, 2013 Report Posted April 3, 2013 Will miss Jason and disliked the deal w/o picks earlier. Feeling, much, much better. Now if only that darn rumor re Stafford and Caps could be confirmed, this would be a pretty good day. I'm with SDS. Can't feel too bent out of shape on a bottom dwelling team (but I can be concerned with Darcy remaining in charge of the rebuilding).
TrueBlueGED Posted April 3, 2013 Report Posted April 3, 2013 I wonder who Regier is gonna offer sheet with all these picks. .....O'Reilly? :P
Iron Crotch Posted April 3, 2013 Report Posted April 3, 2013 I wonder who Regier is gonna offer sheet with all these picks. Oooh... good thinking. We have a ton of picks over the next couple of drafts.
Dave Dryden Posted April 3, 2013 Report Posted April 3, 2013 Waiting until summer was a possibility and could have brought a more developed player. Now that it's complete, I'll stand by what I said in the other thread: Not a fleecing and not what I wanted (I wanted the quick turnaround) but this looks like an even deal now. If picks are becoming the currency of the realm--as Darcy says--then all these picks might be packaged in some form for real live current NHL players this Summer. This is especially true with the cap relief they get from the trade, and cap issues other teams may have this Summer. I don't think we know the approach just yet-- if Darcy even has a clear approach vis long v. short term rebuild. But he has added lots of trade worthy pieces, it seems to me, if he wants to use the pieces as trade bait for a quicker rebuild.
LGR4GM Posted April 3, 2013 Report Posted April 3, 2013 Bill Hoppe @BillHoppeNHL 37s #Sabres confirm the deal out is true. Darcy Regier to speak in 10 minutes. That's the only trade. #Buffalo That's all folks
